Over all a pretty good price for what it is. While I am relatively happy with these...
I don't care for the clear material they are made from. It doesn't release the heat as well as other non-rubber hot water bottles I have used and it's not as conformable to get your cold feet "into."
The cover is really nice but is already pilling, i.e. fuzz balls forming after only a couple of weeks. I hope it doesn't wear out quickly.
It looks like the bottle itself will last a while.
I'd like to give this 10 stars. Absolutely love it. I've used the rubber hot water bottles and also electric heating pads, but I love the material that this one's made of. I used it every night for 6 months to warm up my bed during the winter. It's stored now, but will be in daily use when the weather turns cold again.
I typically put about a half cup of cold water in, then get water almost to boiling in my tea kettle and add that to fill it up. I didn't want to overheat the plastic, which is why I start with a little cold water in the bottom. I tuck it between the sheets before getting into bed, and if I keep it under the covers, it's still warm the next morning.
First time user hot water bottle. Have an electric blanket but wanted something specifically that wont heat upper body. Filled bottle up with hot water from kettle on the stove...waited for kettle to whistle, gave it 5 minutes to rest then filled bottle, precisely at 10 pm. Well, I just ordered another one because the handsome cockerspaniel who sleeps on the bed snuggled right next to it. He could feel the radiating warmth through the comforter, cool spring night 48 degrees out, 62 indoors and he did not move for the rest of the night! Anyway, left bottle in bed next day and at 10.45 pm following evening, 24 hrs later, I retrieved the bottle from under the covers and to my utter surprise it was warm! You coud feel the warmth through the comforter when i pressed down.
Quite unexpected. I hope it holds up well. No leakage which I was and still worried about. Fill it 3/4 and leave room for expansion, bottle is transparent so you can see. It had a rubbery ordour at first but thats gone. The cute sweater on bottle of course from rubbing against sheets will get a worn look but its expected. Overall a good product.
Why didn't I buy one of these years ago? This is an ordinary, centuries old, heating device that I love! My feet get cold and wearing socks just doesn't heat them quickly enough. I heat water until just before boiling, or let the water sit in the kettle for 10 minutes to cool a bit if I miss the boiling point, then place the filled bottle in the sheets while getting ready for bed. Jump in bed and the sheets are toasty warm.
I've also used the bottle to place on the floor, under my feet, when sitting at a desk or table while working at my computer. If the dog or cat would assume this position, or sit atop my feet, the hot water bottle would be unnecessary. But, alas, I don't get that cooperation. Do be careful not to step on the filled hot water bottle (or cat or dog) when you get up, though.
I like the water bottle itself. Nice improvement from what I remembered from my childhood. For a recent leg injury, my doctor recommended a hot water bottle over than the microwavable products available now. She thinks the "heat" is more consistent from a rubber bottle than the microwavable products.
I must say, I only tried this once. I was trying to manage the pain I was experiencing from a leg injury; apparently, I was over walking. It did provide relief. I tried muscle relaxing creams, ice and the hot water bottle. The muscle relaxing cream helped, but not enough. Ice - nothing. With heat, there was relief. I found myself pivoting in the shower and turning up the heat to get relief. The water bottle was effective too.
My only negative comment would be the cover. I did not think it was well made. Strings unraveling right away. Plus, the knit cover seemed to insulate too much from the heat from the bottle. Yes, you don't want to burn yourself. You also want to feel the heat. Maybe I didn't heat the water up enough, but they cautioned you to not heat the water to boiling. So, maybe I missed judged the cover, since I may not have heated the water enough.
Over all, I think this was a good purchase.

Right now my toes are toasty warm and my tiny 4-lb dog is under the down blanket with his toes on the hot water bottle's knitted cover, too. What comfort and joy.
The gray "sweater" cover is of lovely quality, much softer than I expected. The bottle itself is great. No smell of plastic. It fills easily and holds boiling hot water with ease.
As others have suggested: fill the bottle with the cover already on. Be sure to have a small towel/rag handy to wipe away any water from the lip of the bottle, before you screw in the top. I like to squeeze any air out of the bottle, before screwing in top----don't fill too full, let the bottle be a bit flat for best snuggling-with-toes action.
If you use boiling hot water, this unit will stay nicely, wonderfully warm for hours.
Highly recommend this item.
I ordered this hot water bottle to take on a tour of Ireland to soothe my anticipated "over walked" legs. I almost decided NOT to take it due to its weight, which seemed a little high. However, I ended up packing it and and sure glad I did. I used the in-room coffee pot to heat the water (hot tap water is not hot enough). I could have taken my rice filled "heat pack" with me instead. However, the pack needs to be heated in a micro wave and I didn't want to take the chance on the hotels (we were in 4 hotels) having in-room microwaves. All 4 hotels had coffee pots, but NONE had microwaves in the rooms! The hot water bottle worked just fine. My only suggestions are to make the mouth wider (so filling it with very hot water is easier and less ouchy) and make the water bottle covers easier to put on (and only one is needed). Not wanting to misplace the screw top, I used a luggage tag tie to loosely attach the screw top to the bottle itself.
This water bottle is the bomb! Fill just less than 2/3 of the way with hot water the top up with boiling water and screw on cap and I have heat for hours! (Too much boiling water and it will burn!) At night it warms the foot of my bed to begin, then it's up near my body for the rest of the night. I've been sleeping deeper and longer with this aid! During the day it's on my lap, or under a blanket for my cats to snuggle up to. Far cheaper than an electric blanket and lasts longer!
The covers arrived in perfect condition, no signs of mold or stains as others have mentioned. The knitted cover is easier to get on, even when the bottle is full, and the thinner blue cover is cute, but can only be applied or removed when the bottle is empty.
The bottle is easy to fill and there have been no issues with leaking.
This item makes me feel like I could be warm and cozy even if I were a thin, pale novelist, bundling myself into my Nan's 100 year old bed in my drafty cliffside cottage with naught but a thin wool blanket for warmth. Even my pup snuggles with it!
Two notes: one, I would not advise trying to fill this on, say, a tiny sink where the bottle is squished so that the water is flung about instead of being funneled into the bottle the way mother nature intended. Two, and this may be obvious to most customers, but do dress the bottle in its natty sweater BEFORE filling it. Because physics.
This one takes 'the product of the year' award from me personally. I have not so great circulation, and get cold feet and tummy ache a lot with cold. This one is so easy to fill up with hot water, and it stays warm for hours. I have feet warmer, electrical heat pad, and seriously considered getting a home sauna to get the chill out, but this little guy makes me feel so warm and cozy, I feel like I don't need anything else. However, if you have feeble hands, I would reconsider getting this, since you have to work with hot water. The danger of burning yourself exists. But once filled, it never leaks, I sleep with it several nights :) and having two sleeves is really nice to be able to replace.
