Hi. I'm a middle-aged sciatica sufferer who recently took the plunge and had spinal fusion surgery -- my L4 to S1 vertebrae are now linked by a scaffold of titanium bars and bolts, and bone splints, in the hope that they will eventually fuse together and provide the support my back needs to reduce sagging. Sagging aggravates pressure on the nerves where they exit the spine and leads to sciatica and other maladies.
After years of trying different kinds of physiotherapy and massage, and following a daily routine of exercises, my sciatica just would not go away. I finally got a referral to an orthopedic surgeon who ordered an MRI of my lower back. And there it was, front and center, my right-side sciatic nerve root was being pressed against my spinal canal by an arthritic bone spur. I could have exercised the rest of my life and never had any influence on it. The time had come for somebody to go in there and clean up my entire lumbar spine of disintegrated disc fragments and other detritus that have for years been irritating the nerves going from the spine to my legs and other lower regions.
Before my surgery, I had bought this orthopedic pillow to minimize my sciatica pain when sitting, and it was effective from Day One. After my surgery, this little pillow became even more essential.
My lumbar region needs stability to heal, and for the fusion process to be successful. Along with the foam mini-pillow that I use between my knees when I sleep, this pillow is able to target areas further up my back if required. But its primary advantage is providing support to my lumbar region, and unlike the foam pillow, this air pillow can be used in the real world without causing a fuss.

Wherever you sit or lie for extended periods, this pillow enables you to vary its air pressure by forcing air into the pillow or venting it. You pump the bulb and push the button until you have arrived at the air pressure that gives just the right amount of support.
This pillow succeeds first because, first and foremost, it has the look and feel of a quality product. The pillow's cover fabric is a rich, burgundy color and does not attract attention. The feel of the fabric is luxurious, much like velvet. Even the mechanical portion, the little pump capable of raising your entire body as you lie on this pillow in bed, is unobtrusive in design but does its job in real-world usage.
My number-one use for this pillow is my Aeron office chair, where I spend countless hours writing documentation about technical consumer products. Next would be for watching movies from my BarcaLounger. And finally, this pillow supports my back on my Saatva bed. Even the firmest of this brand's beds wasn't providing the support my sciatica required, but an extra-firm 3" foam topper and this orthopedic pillow brought the firmness I required when dealing with sciatica. And post-surgery, this little pillow is a must-have.
This pillow can't take away all your back pain, but it is capable of providing the precise amount of support, in just the right area, to make a substantial difference in your sitting or sleeping comfort. The price is a bargain considering the quality of the materials and the functionality of the pump. I highly recommend this product to fellow sciatica and disc fusion sufferers.
This is a great pillow. I have used it vertically along my spine, and horizontally behind my shoulder blades, mid and lower back. It looks nice and the pump works well! I recently had open heart surgery and the beds and chairs made my back and neck hurt. The adjustability of this pillow has been incredibly helpful in getting restful sleep and helping with better posture. I highly recommend it. A great gift for someone on bed rest or in the hospital.
Works great. I really like the fact I can adjust the pressure without having to reposition it.
Can’t speak to howling it holds pressure. I will update this review as I find out.
There is one personal unexpected negative. I’m still trying to convince my dog that the bulb is not a new squeaky toy.
This is one of the few inflatble cushions that doesn’t deflate over time. I recently took it on a lengthy train ride, and it maintain it’s size with no problems.

Note: Since this product is inflatable, the air pression outside is less than the air pression inside of the built-in air bag. It will slowly deflate with pressure like a balloon, and it is impossible to keep full filled in a long time. Therefore, if the airbag is not full after a few hours' compression during use, it's normal and it just needs to be inflated again.
Please understand that this is a physical problem, not a quality issue of the product.

I bought this for lumbar support and found it works great for many purposes.
Waited too long to arrive but worth waiting I should say. One benefit of having air Inflatable Pillow is its manual facility to inflate. It allows me to alleviate my back pain while lying down. The outer design looks very simple that incorporates a manual air inflating pump and inner design includes an internal bag/tube to hold air enclosed inside a carefully designed zipper.
Great for travel because it rolls up very tight. Perfect for anyone who has had a hip replacement and needs that extra support.
