Good quality components and a complete set of survival gear. You can keep it nearby with the stock kit, or easily add to it, remove things, or swap out upgrades. I traded the sparker for a Bic Mini (which functions the same as the sparker when it runs out of fuel). I also put in a better button compass and upgraded the cordage. Some mini tweezers fit right in the fishing kit with other pointy metal parts.
It’s not what you’d want for a camping trip, but you’d be much better off if you got stuck outside or lost your campsite and your main gear.
The knife is a bit of a gimmick… you want a better knife. But a tiny tough blade is better than no blade at all.
The pouch is great. Durable, and easier to hide in your clothes than a rigid altoids tin (or similar). It’s smooth and disappears in a pocket. …maybe not the front pocket of your jeans, but the back pocket, a jacket pocket, or cargo pocket.
Excellent expanded version of the basic PSP. By adding the tiny flashlight and knife, the pack is now much more of a true self-contained option that you can throw into the glove compartment or spare-tire area of your car, and pull out for use in an emergency with 'one of everything' inside. The basic kit assumed that you had a (much better) light and knife on-hand, which was great unless you didn't. While knife and light are truly minimalist, they're far better than having nothing in those categories when you really need them.
Of course you hope never to need it, but top quality contents. Strong/ergonomic knife, useful selection otherwise. Clear instructions. Nice case. Pocket compact. Supplement with an emergency blanket, food, and common sense. Nicer kit vs most i've seen. Wish priced a bit lower, but you'd had trouble assembling your own of same quality. Use a tweezer to deal with tiny flashlight batteries
This is a fantastic kit for the money. It includes all the things I added on to the original.
Great item; need one for every glove box; add a Heatsheet and some water and you have a chance when disaster happens.

Give yourself a fighting chance for survival with the Survive Outdoors Longer Pocket Survival Pak Plus when wilderness travel takes an unexpected turn. Containing a collection of survival tools, this pocket survival kit keeps you going when abandoned, stranded, or lost in the outdoors. Okay, I will confess to being a little paranoid. Whenever I travel anywhere by plane, my luggage is as well-appointed as a first aid stall despite my husband's certainty that I could buy the bulk of those things if I need them wherever we go, possibly without even leaving our destination hotel. With this in mind, it should surprise nobody that I am even more paranoid when removed from civilization.
While this kit doesn't bring the bandaids and antibiotic ointments, it does provide a baseline of tools you need to survive in a crisis - but you should know that it is a baseline. This small package includes 6 water purification tablets and water pouch, a compass, a fire starter kit, a knife, a flashlight, a signal mirror, a fishing kit, a whistle, duct tape, wire, cord, thread, a sewing needle, a small magnifier, and some instructions for using it all. It's all good quality, but trades comprehensiveness for compactness. For most on brief outings that aren't TOO remote, that's probably a good trade, although you need a decent first aid kit even then. If I were heading deeper into the wilds, I'd want to add a few more essentials, like Emergency Food Rations,Emergency Foil Mylar Thermal Blankets, a Clotting Sponge to quickly stop bleeding. Any good kit needs to be tailored to your destination, obviously, but should help you meet the essentials of survival and safety anywhere with additional elements to address your unique components (e.g. environment, flora, fauna, known medical factors).
The case to carry these is thick and durable, but if it were a little less compact would be easier to repack after use or to customize even the smallest bit.
Note that the composition of these kids is subject to change, which makes it important to read the description carefully. I have seen in many products occasions where user reviews refer to items that were included in earlier packagings or complain about the lack of an item that is later included. What tends to remain stable in quality packs like this one is the durability of materials and the care of component selection.
I’m so glad I got this kit. I wanted something to put in the car for emergencies and also take with us when we go camping. This pocket survival kit (it really is an easy size to carry) will keep you going when abandoned, stranded, or lost in the outdoors. It contains a surprisingly large collection of survival tools for such a small size, such as CRKT RSK-MK5 knife, a LED micro-light, water purification tablets, a 1-liter collapsible water bag, signaling tools, a compass, duct tape, and fire-starting tools. IT even comes with its own zip seal carrying pouch. The kit has hundreds of tips specific to the kit. The survival instructions are waterproof and show you how to use each tool. I feel very prepared now if something unexpected happens.
This is an extremely nice survival kit for it's size. Pretty much all the basics are covered and are done with high quality material, not the usual mixed bag (nice knife, crap fire starter, etc.). I really liked each of the items included. With the exception of the fishing hook (I just don't see myself sitting down to fish in most situations I'm likely to need this stuff in), everything in it is necessary. Best of all, I was able to unpack it all from the resealable, water-proof bag, and then get it all back in without overtly stuffing, stretching or tearing the bag. There's no real extra room, but there's enough room for the material provided, which is very nice.
My family has 72 hour kits, but we were wanting a smaller item like this to throw in to them or in our glove compartment for emergencies. I was surprised to see that it costs so much for such a small package. I do however like the contents and that it includes waterproof instructions for use. This is very helpful for a person like me that has watched survival shows on tv, but only camped for short periods of time about once a summer. I feel like this package includes so many helpful items that I never would have thought about including.
As someone who is just getting into Survival Preparation/Disaster Readiness I am very pleased with all that is contained in this kit! With my family's outdoor/scouting training this kit could prove invaluable in a survival situation. It comes with a lot of the staples like basic first-aid string and safety whistle, but I feel this kit shines in the few unique extras it includes.
I am happy with the small but sharp survival knife that comes with this kit, and am hopefully I will never have to use the water purifying tablets this kit includes.
