Furniture Life Squatting Toilet Stool, Folding Bamboo Wood Squat Stools, Ultra Portable & Eco Friendly, Free Travel Bag Included, Bathroom Foot Stool (One Pair)

I looked at just about every squat-thing's listing and review on Amazon before getting this one, and I think I made the right choice. I was already sold on the squatting idea from backpacking experience, and at home I'd recently rigged up trial platforms (8" stacks of folded old torn-up bluejeans), and realized that height adjustment would be beneficial, and Width adjustment just as much. So which product to order? Here was my decision process:

1) I definitely was Not going to have a plastic SquattyPotty device that looked like it had been smuggled out of a convalescent home. I don't care that they've sold 100 billion of them to satisfied customers, the name alone would be reason enough to avoid. Just thinking it gives me a shudder and makes me consider for the first time looking into the cost of future long-term care insurance...

2) SquattyP--'s wooden offerings looked like at least a step in the right direction, but I anticipated taking a wrong step in the dark and stubbing a toe or 2 into it during a late-night pee (I'm a dude) if I forget it's placed there. And if the thing's not always parked semi-blocking the throne, where to store it? Seemed like a real accident waiting to happen.

3) Other brands' bamboo constructions that were a little wider and more open in front looked more accommodating/less hazardous, but then... why not look for a separated 2-piece design, which could be even better?

4) Separate pieces, one for each foot, would allow width adjustment, and a solution to the storage problem, and height adjustment as well. 2-pc would be the better way to go, then.

5) Most of the 2-pc products looked about the same, using magnets to secure their height adjusting mechanisms underneath the foot platforms, and if you read enough of the reviews you're told that the magnets sometimes fall off, etc. A cutesy "high-tech"-looking feature that would probably just make life with it difficult.

6) Here we are at the winner. A design that uses a more straightforward method of securing height adjustment, a metal rod the width of the platform that simply slots in to the height-slot of your choice and stays there, foolproof.
Further, what you can't see in the listing's pictures is that there's another hidden metal rod that runs through the wood at the other end, serving as an internal hinge -much sturdier than the oft-failing screwed-on pieces of hinge hardware that others use (one variant's seller noted they improved their mdl's problematic hinges -which looked ok but still seemed like a potential breakage point compared to this one's).

So I believe my hour+ of online comparison paid off. These are very stable, easy to set-up/take-down, and stay put well (orient them so the horizontal design slots on top of the platforms are toward your heels, then they won't slide on the floor). The design looks good -simple and clean, and they're well-made and sturdy. The bamboo planks are smooth, no sharp edges, etc.
They come individually packed in nice unbleached cotton pouches which I'll one day I'm sure I'll find an actual use for. And each platform is shrink-wrapped in plastic, dust-free.
Also included is a little hex key to adjust the tightness of the hinge -a nice touch. For example, if you want to leave them unfolded in ready to use position, you can tighten down the hinge so they do not fold up when moving.

Better still, mine also showed up clean design-wise, thankfully!, no logos or dumb names engraved anywhere. I really hoped I wouldn't have to read "PoopSquatter", or "Your B.M.Butler", or "The ASSistant", on them every day...

This bamboo toilet stool was more than even we expected. The price was great and the quality was excellent.
The legs and pedals are connected by a metal core.Safer and stronger, hard to collapse.Even A single one can bear my weight(I am 125lbs).
I highly recommend this for its adjustable.Three different heights to accommodate different sized toilet and also for user height differences.
All in all,This toilet stool is competitively priced and a great value.

I find this approach much better than the units which are a single long piece. They are individually adjustable so you can have one foot higher than the other. Since they're separate pieces, you can keep both feet firmly on the floor while you sit down and then put your feet on the supports easily. When not in use, they easily slide back beside the toilet and out of the way. For portability, I think they'll be great and have only 1 think I'd want changed. You need a hex key to tighten/loosen the nut which holds them at a certain position. Hex keys have a way of getting lost if they can't be attached to the product. it would be great if they could have a cutout somewhere on one of the units where the hex key could be stored.

These are pretty good. Before I bought them I was worried about them being too nice and wooden to be in a bathroom and possibly falling over when using. They are pretty nice, but stay stable! I don't like unfolding and setting them up much, which brings them down to a four. But I knew that when I bought them. I previously noted that just using one worked fine. I would like to qualify that with the statement that two worked a lot better.

These are good looking. They discreetly tuck to the sides of the toilet. They work well. You can adjust the height. Good design. I bought them at $39.99. Just went to buy another set and they are up to $52. I'll have to think twice about getting a second pair at that price. The $39.99 was already pretty steep for what it is.
