After losing my balance a couple of times in the shower I decided to look for a bar or a shower chair before I did have an accident. I looked at several & read a ton of reviews & then I looked at Dr Maya Shower Stool, which also included a safety bar that you can attach to a wall in the shower too! Read the description & reviews & ordered it. After receiving it I opened the box which had a single sheet of instructions, a zip lock bag if the screws & washers & it took me approx 10 minutes to put it together. After I finished I set it in my shower & couldn't wait to install the suction bar. There is a clamp on both ends that you open, put it against the location you want, close the clamps & thats it. Oh! I almost forgot. There was also a gift in the box ... a new loofa.
This is a definite 5 Star product & I can honestly say I highly recommend it.
Never thought a non-descript piece of plastic and aluminum could bring me this much joy :)
But yeah. Happy happy joy joy! I CAN TAKE A SHOWER AGAIN!!!
Long story short: I tore my Achilles and showers as I've known them for the past four and a half decades no longer exist. I tried standing and holding the wall; no go. Not very stable.
So I find myself researching shower chairs and come upon the Dr. Maya Adjustable Chair and suction handle thing. (More on that later. )
Honestly, I got this one cuz it was small and cheap. But don't let that dissuade you, The main thing I was looking for was:
1. Cheap
2. Compact
3. Sturdy/non slippery
4. Light and easy to clean
Check check check check. The chair meets all those requirements. I can now sit comfortably in the shower and relax without worrying about balancing in one foot while shampooing my hair.
Now, that bonus suction handle: it's fantastic. I'm not sure how durable it is, but it works well for now and makes getting in and out of the shower so much easier. Love it.
I'm really happy with the combo of the seat and suction handle thing.
..set it up for my operation so didn't have to worry.. used it couple times prior to my surgery. Had to re-tighten the screws on seat posts, somehow got loose-not a big deal but checked it when sitting on seat and found 1/2-1 1/2 turns to retighten prob because of my weight on seat? . the handle sticks well to my tile in the shower/bath tub, noticed once it somehow worked loose. Maybe wet suction cups prior to install/or install dry? ...how many lbs can this hold? I'm 165lbs 5'8”
Update: 2/16/18. They sent a replacement and no slipping! Great customer service thank you!
After hip surgery I spent hours searching for something that would fit in the narrow, old tub in my apartment. I tried the bench (so big the legs over the tub cut into my tiny space), another chair with back and arms (which was too wide for the legs to set flat on the tub floor and handles that made it difficult to get in). I love my daily showers but this was making them a problem and not fun at all. Back to Amazon and hours of searching and here at last...a chair that has legs that set flat against the floor, giving me a real sense of security and those slotted handles help when I'm getting up and out of the tub. The chair is lightweight and can be lifted with one hand but when I'm taking my shower it stays steady and secure. I love this chair and have ordered it again for a friend who is also not so secure in the tub. For help getting out of the tub, I also purchased a Drive tub rail...can't believe what a help that is! Beware of the handle that is included with the chair. Test, test, test it before you rely on it. I have one that I use on the marble windowsill that works great, but the one I purchased for the tile wall fell off 2 hours after it was secured. It seems to be a matter of the wall material it is affixed to.
I am non weight bearing in a cast for 8 weeks. When the shower bench I had been using on and off for years collapsed, with me on it, I knew I needed a new one, and fast. After carefully reviewing several models, I chose the Dr. Maya bench and could not be happier. It assembles easily - just pop on the legs - and is very stable and sturdy. The legs adjust to several heights with ease. The grab bar (and the surprise bonus!) are a nice plus.
I had the bench in my bathtub and my leg in its trusty cast cover and was all set to take a shower safely when the tension rod that holds my shower curtain decided to collapse on me so I had to take a bath instead! However, I put the shower chair outside the bathtub and used it to sit on after my bath. I can attest to its sturdiness from that experience.
I highly recommend this product. It is economical and sturdy and is clearly built to last.

Shower with comfort & safety.
This shower bench was just what we needed for a our RV shower / tub. It’s legs are set a couple inches more narrow than most benches so it fit perfectly. Very sturdy. I tossed the flimsy plastic wall handle that was included as our shower wall is porous so it won’t attach. It seemed pretty cheep so I would not have trused it to hold the weight of an adult anyway. Still, loving the bench.
Easy to put together and adjust height in minutes. I'm 5'2" 245 lbs & it held my weight well. After total knee replacement, I actually used this in the bathtub to shave my legs & in the shower to get clean. It fit in both (I have an oval garden tub) & it is very light weight so it was easy to move from shower to tub with one hand immediately after surgery. I bought this because it came with a suction cup handle which I also needed after surgery. The handle was great & really helped but it will pop off or slip down if you pull too hard or put too much weight on it. It helped me to keep my balance but I could not use it to pull myself up.
This is perfect for my shower. It is the perfect size but doesn't take up too much room. Super easy to assemble.
The suction handle was a bonus and works perfect on my fiberglass shower.
I am very pleased and recommend this product from Dr. Maya!
I just had surgery on my foot that left me 8 weeks non-weight bearing on my left foot. This shower chair and grip have both been very handy to have during my recovery process, as hopping about on one foot during my showers was not an option. Lightweight, yet sturdy, it is easily moved one-handed in and out of the shower. The grip attaches very firmly to the shower wall so that I was not afraid to pull or lower my full 150 lbs of weight using the grip. (There may be a weight limit on the grip, so please check before putting substantial weight on it.) The grip is especially handy if one does not have grab bars installed in the shower.
The chair is a good size for the average-sized person and shower. I have a tub/shower combo, but I believe this chair will fit easily into all but the smallest of showers.
I am 61 and in fairly good condition, so this may not be the best option for a more frail or elderly person. They would most likely benefit from a more substantial chair with side rails.
I used your bath bench for the first time this morning. It accommodated me greatly. Legs are positioned on the bench so it can fit in small bathtubs. Delivery time was as projected. I’m 71yo and I found it very easy to assemble. I’m disappointed that it was delivered with a big gash on the box. I’m attaching a picture of the box for your perview. All in all I am very satisfied that I chose Dr. Maya bath & shower chair. Happy customer 😀
