Lifeline 26-Piece Ultralight Survival

Lifeline 26-Piece Ultralight Survival Kit

Lifeline 26-Piece Ultralight Survival Kit

This is a small, very light and very portable survival kit. It is definitely a good value for the price, but it's mainly just a good start on well-stocked survival kit. All of the items come out of the container very easily and it is easy to replace them all.

I'll get right down to reviewing each item in this kit:

Waterproof Carry Case - This is the plastic bag that the entire kit comes in. It is composed of thick clear plastic and it should be fairly durable in most situations. It will most likely keep your kit dry during the heaviest of rains but I'm not sure if it would stand up well if completely submerged in water.

Waterproof Matches - These matches come in a small box with a striker pad on each side. The matches are fairly easy to light, even with the waterproof coating. The problem is that the matches aren't completely coated. Only the phosphorous tips are waterproof, so if your matches are soaked and you can get one to light, it's going to go out as soon as the phosphorous burns away. I would say that these matches should just be called water-resistant instead of waterproof, but I will just replace them with better ones.

Aluminum Foil - A fairly large piece of foil which comes tightly folded in the kit. What else can I say? It's just aluminum foil and it can be very useful in some situations.

Emergency Blanket - This is a silver Mylar blanket that is about 4'x 6'. If you don't know about Mylar, it is a great insulator. They use it for spacecraft and Astronaut suits to help protect them from radiation and freezing cold. This is useful to have for emergency situations where staying warm is a priority.

50' Fishing Line, 4 Hooks and 4 Sinkers - All of these come packaged together in a small bag. The back of the box says that there is 50 feet of fishing line, but I'm not going to unravel it to make sure. The sinkers are very basic, and they don't have lips on the backs of them so they will be difficult to remove from a line once they are attached. The hooks seem good but they are small, so you will be lucky to catch a big fish with them.

8' Snare Wire - This is just basic steel wire which can be useful in very many situations. It can also be used to catch small game if you need to. As with the fishing line the box says 8 feet, but it would be a pain to unravel it just to find out exactly how much there is.

Map Compass - A simple compass for use with maps. It seems to work, but I've had several compasses that were better than this one.

Emergency Whistle - A plastic whistle that comes with a nylon braided cord so you can wear it around your neck. I haven't really tested it yet, but it's a just a plastic whistle so I bet it works fine.

10' Emergency Cord - Braided white nylon cord that can be useful in many situations, any type of cord like this is a must in any survival kit.

36" Duct Tape - First off, this isn't Duck brand Duct Tape. This is off-brand tape and is certainly somewhat lacking in quality, but it is still Duct Tape and it is still extremely useful for very many reasons. Duct Tape is great to have in any survival kit.

Survival Guide - Not much of a guide, really. It is a single piece of paper with printed instructions on both sides, but it does offer some sound advice for survival situations. It would be good to have if you have nothing else.

Reusable Zipper-Lock Bag - This is just a plastic bag. A fairly large one, sure, but still just a standard plastic bag.

Surgical Blade - A single stainless steel blade which comes sterilized in an aluminum foul package. Recommended for one-time use only, but you should clean it and keep it with you if you have used it already.

Wound Closure Strips - Sterilized strips for closing certain wounds. Latex free and useful for deep cuts.

Safety Pins - Three Safety Pins. Useful and good to have when you need them, but most people have some anyway.

Also, there is a small piece of paper in the kit with safety information on it. Not useful for anything except possibly starting fires so at least you'll have something to burn in a pinch.

Other reviewers have done a great job in providing detailed reviews of all the contents so I won't bother. The bottom line is this is the best kit you can buy for the price point. If you are a survivalist, prepper or spend a lot of time in the bush you probably have all this stuff in your home, at higher quailty so don't bother. If you're an average person who would like to have some peace of mind and wants something small you can carry with you, this is the kit. It's affordable enough that you can buy several to spread around the family.
You could look around the house and put some things together like foil, safety pins, fishing line, and duck tape but you'd probably have a hard time putting all the contents together to make a kit this small. I tried putting a similar one together here on Amazon, and the bag, whistle, and compass were over $15. I have even checked out the dollar store, but could only find some of the items, you'd still need to go somewhere else to get it all. Amazon delivers right to your door:)
I haven't used everything, but I did take it all out and was able to get it all back in with no issue.
I used a few of the items, they worked ok, but I upgraded when I replaced them-duck tape with gorrilla tape wrapped around a golf pencil, added 550 cord inner string, put in new heavy duty foil, and 50lb fishing line since I already had these at home. For the additions: diaper sized safety pins, 4 water purification tabs and a mini bic lighter. I have travelled internationally with the kit in my carry on bag with no issues.

If someone has been able to buy a kit as good and small as this, for a cheaper price, please share.

Overall, this kit seems pretty comprehensive and is of pretty good quality for the price. The compass is made of a durable plastic and points north consistently. It makes for a good core for an emergency preparedness kit, since it includes necessities like matches,an emergency blanket, a whistle, duct tape/rope (though not very much of it). as well as means for catching food like the fishing supplies and snare wire (though I have not tested them, so I can't speak to their quality. The aluminum foil is a thoughtful--though easily replicated--addition to the kit since you can use it for signaling as well as to help purify water via sunlight (unless the water is contaminated by chemicals, in which case it wouldn't work). Some things to take note:

The case - The plastic is thick and feels durable, but I'm worried about the sides; they could probably be split open with enough force, so I'd be careful not to stuff it with too many things if you plan on adding extra items. Also, the opening isn't the best--you just roll it down and then hold it down with velcro. BE CAREFUL when opening the velcro; after opening the case few times, the plastic split along its seam so I had to use duct tape to seal the hole. I duct taped my second one behind the velcro to ensure this doesn't happen if I ever needed it.

The matches - they come in a paper box that is not waterproof; the tip of each one is covered with a red wax that'll keep it light-able even after being soaked in water, but it only covers the tip. I wanted to test the waterproof matches, so I soaked two in a cup of water for about 30 seconds, dried them off with a towel, and then tried lighting them. Unfortunately, if the uncovered wood part (which is about 90% of the match stick) absorbs water, then your match won't last very long--probably not more than several seconds. But hey, if your tinder is dry that might be all you need. The plus side is that the plastic case the kit comes in will help keep the matches dry in a rain (but probably not if it got submerged). I'd keep at least 2 other means of making a fire in my emergency kit just in case.

I was pleasantly surprised when I got this kit. The bag is much bigger than the one in the pics and the bag appears to be of better quality (see my customer pics) than the kit in the photos. This product appears to be an updated version. Note that I ordered my kit from West Coast Mall (came in two days, even with regular shipping!!). This kit now comes with a sparker, not waterproof matches.

BAG: The bag is of decent quality and has a bit of room for expansion. It is much sturdier quality than a ziplock bag or one of those heavy plastic bags with the zipper. This bag rolls shut with a nylon strap and has a clip, which is awesome - it can be attached to a carabiner or clipped to a bag or belt.

CONTENTS: The label contents show the same contents as the Amazon add. But, it states that it only has one (1) fishing sinker. (see pic) I was pleasantly surprised again when I found that the little fishing kit has 4 hooks and 4 sinkers. Compass points magnetic north and seems to be of durable quality. Whistle comes with additional cord. "Snare" wire is actually piano wire, but it appears to be of decent quality. This kit no longer comes with a box of waterproof matches, which is replaced with a sparker. This should make the kit more airplane-friendly.

The sparker is basically a lighter sparker - not a firesteel. I doubt it would help a ton in starting a fire unless you had very dry, very fine kindling. You should definitely find a video on starting a fire with a sparker. Dryer lint seems to be the most accessible kindling. I will put some lint in the kit in a little baggie to keep water out. Or replace the sparker with a mini bic lighter, which is almost the same size.

1 star off for being made in China - the fishing kit is of very cheap quality as is the duct tape. It will do in a pinch, however and can be replaced cheaply.

Planning to survive on the absolute bare necessities? This is the kit for you. It contains the kind of stuff that MacGyver could not only survive on for a year, but could also trap the bad guys with. For us mere mortals ... well, I hope I never need to depend on this as my lifeline!

In all seriousness, these are the kind of essentials that survival programs will equip you with to survive for several days in the wilderness. Or that military personnel might carry in case of an emergency. You can either throw it in your home/auto emergency kit or into your backpack - in case of emergency. Or, if your an extreme survivalist, you may want to venture out with nothing but this to test your mettle.

One suggestion: make it a hobby to learn to use each element of the kit. Even if you're not using it to stay alive, try it out in your backyard just to understand the function of each piece. You may also find that you want to upgrade a few of the pieces to higher quality options.

29 Piece Kit Includes: Weatherproof Carry Case, Survival Guide, 10' Emergency Cord, Map Compass, Emergency Whistle, Survival Blanket, 3 Safety Pins, 36" Roll Duct Tape, 18"x12" Sheet Aluminum Foil, 8' Snare Wire, Box Waterproof Matches, 4 Fishing Hooks, 4 Fishing Sinker Weights, 50' 10lb Fishing Line, Surgical Blade, Reusable Zipper-Lock Bag, 5 Wound Closure Strips,

The best survival gear is the kind you never have to use.

It's hard to argue against spending the small amount of money on this, if for nothing else, just to have it. It's the perfect size where you can keep it on you at basically all times when camping (or even just in your car) and have it not be an annoying burden.

I haven't used it, thankfully, but I feel confident enough that if I was put into a situation where I needed it I would probably not die for a few more hours than I would without it.

I don't have a particularly high confidence rating in my general survival skills, but having this definitely helps a bit.

This little kit lives in my tiny Camelback hike pack that I don't leave home on a hike without. I like to be the prepared one while hiking, and luckily I haven't yet had to use any of it, but upon careful inspection I can rest assured that I'll have what I need in case of emergency on a hike.

It's packaging is tiny and I don't even notice it in my pack. You should never hike without at least the 10 essentials, and this is a great start. PS, don't forget water ;)

I got this kit to go hiking with my friends. I got it due to the price and compared it with other kits. I liked this item better the the S.O.L scout that was TWICE the price and did not come with that much high-quality items as the Life Line kit did. The Compass is one of the best I have seen in a survival kit, even better it is ACCURATE!!!! Something that you don't get in other kits, and that it is not a button compass. The only things that I would add to the kit is a way to cook, and water purification tablets.

Got this kit for the following reasons:
1) small, packed tightly in a tough plastic bag
2) good, quality components
3) has a tiny bit of room for extra items
4) decent, affordable price

The #3 point listed above was one of the strongest selling points for me. I added a VERY small S.O.G. knife, a lighter, a micro fishing kit, and a small firesteel to this package. A tight fit, for sure, but perfect for me in my car wrapped side-by-side with a good first aid kit. I am not disappointed at all with this little kit, and I don't think you'll be either.

Being an avid survivalist, I had very low expectations here.. However I was very pleasantly surprised with this kit.
Yes the compass is cheap and the kit isn't going to save you from big disasters. But for the money I challenge you to find a better mini kit than this. It has some really nice items and is small enough to shove into any pocket or void. The compass works like it should and everything seems like it's decent quality.
The shipping was very fast and the price was very cheap. I'm more than happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone that has survival in mind. I keep one of these in my backpack and one in the glovebox of my rig.

Victorinox Tweezers, Small pack of

Victorinox Tweezers, Small pack of 6

Victorinox Tweezers, Small pack of 6

These fit the small Victorinox knives. The metal bits fit the larger size Victorinoxes, but the plastic handle on the tip of the tweezers is shaped differently. These tweezers fit too far down in the large knife and are hard to pull out. The photo shows a new Classic SD (the small knife) and an old (~20 years) Super Tinker next to their respective tweezers. These tweezers are the ones to the left in the photo. Note that they aren't any smaller than the other tweezers, but they go in the smaller knife; hence the name "Victorinox tweezers, small".

Perfect replacements... My wife keeps losing hers, so I can keep these handy instead of always needing to buy her a new knife.
Note: I wouldn't but them if you are looking for a general set of tweezers though... they are replacements and just as crappy as the ones you started with! They may grab a stray hair here and there, but aren't rigid and sharply honed for getting deep splinters.

If you want a really good set of tweezers, get any standard sturdy pair, then fold a piece of fine sandpaper over so the rough part is now on both sides. Pinch that folded piece of sandpaper with your good tweezers and pull the sandpaper through them a couple of times. This will make the faces square to each other. Then, while holding the tweezers in the clamped down position, drag the end across the sandpaper a few times to make the tips align perfectly. This newly honed pair will now rival any other expensive pair you can find.

These are replacement tweezers for Swiss Army knives.

The description is exactly what you get. If you have a Swiss Army knife and you lost the tweezer, this is the item for you.

That being said, I originally got these because I lost the tweezer from one of my OLD Swiss Army knives (probably from 15 years ago). If you are looking for a replacement tweezer of an old swiss army knife this isn't exactly it. It fits, but it is smaller than the original (or at least the versions from around 15 years ago) so it will sink a little bit deeper (the top will not be flush with the knife itself) and because of that it will be a little big harder to pull out. I guess if you couldn't find the older version of the tweezers these will work. NOTE: I have no idea when Swiss Army knives started using these new slightly smaller tweezers, but it definitely goes years back since I have a few newer Swiss Army knives and they use them. I just never thought to check to see if they are interchangeable as they really look the same, but the newer ones are slightly smaller.

I give this 5 starts because it is what the description says. I cannot blame it for not fitting perfectly Swiss Army knives from 15 years ago.

Good item, recommended.

I can't begin to tell you how many uses I've put these precise little tweezers to! Apart from the one in my knife, and a couple of extras: One in the first-aid kit for splinters and the like, one in the workshop for extracting or steadying parts too small for pliers (hemostats also work for some uses but the tweezers have saved my butt a lot of times), another in my jewelry kit for fixing broken strands of beads, one in my car on a keychain reel, to be summoned for fishing things out of a crack or crevice (like a button or paper clip that went AWOL...the list goes on.

You can pay a whole lot more for fancy tweezers with all kinds of bells and whistles, but if you want tweezers that will grab onto something and keep hold while you extract the thing, you cannot do better than these.

Description

Small Tweezer Set of six. Can not ship International. Crafted from the highest quality materials. Built for performance and durability. Made in Switzerland

Be careful: I read the info and reviews carefully, or so I thought, but still managed to order the wrong size. These are for very, very, small knives. An "ordinary" Swiss Army knife would take the larger version.

It was not worth returning, so now I have five extremely small tweezers for whatever I can think of to do with them. The quality is as expected.

These fit the small Tinker, but not perfectly, but they still suffice for what I needed. I had erred in my review that I had first posted when I had stated they fit perfectly. I had two knives for which I had lost the tweezers, so I am happy to have a pack of six, to be prepared for the next few lost/misplaced tweezers. Quality is good. Delivery time was reasonable.

Tweezers. You know how they work. They're not very strong just like every other one that you eve found in a swiss army knife, but they work. One issue, was that they don;t fit correctly in my swiss army knife. They do not sit flush with the top and will go too deep into the pocket. Not a big deal for me as I just turned them around so the top sticks out, but something to be aware of.

Great Tweezers, great price. There is a trick to using Victorinox Tweezers: squeeze from middle and pull slowly. Granted these are not the strongest, but they will pull a small splinter or one hair at a time. I carry a pair in my wallet for emergencies.

I gave everyone on my staff a small Swiss Army Knife for Christmas, the same kind that I have carried for years.

Eventually, the tweezers and toothpick will get lost or become damaged. I had lost my tweezers, so I just picked up these 6 spares and put them in a safe place. Now I use the tweezers fearlessly, knowing that I can replace them "from stock". And those whom I gifted with knives have been informed that I have extra tweezers.

If you get a splinter while away from home, these tweezers can be a lifesaver!

FINIS Agility Paddles

FINIS Agility Paddles (Large)

FINIS Agility Paddles (Large)

I like the design of these paddles ... no elastic required. It's just that the sizing guidance is misleading. Since these paddles are a tray not a glove, sizing by circumference generated the wrong answer in my case. My palm measures 3.5" across. The circumference method led me to get a large paddle. Although it worked as designed, the large felt sloppy on my hand with the majority of extra surface to the left of my palm because of the thumb hole. But I really didn't want something that appreciably larger than my hand. The medium felt better.

The attached pictures show my hand measured and how it looks in each of the paddles. The paddle "trays" are wider at the top than the bottom, i.e. they taper. So unless you want something bigger, I think a person with a 4" palm can use the medium paddles without their hand feeling squeezed. The large should easily accommodate someone with a 5" palm.

I LOVE these paddles. I am a USMS swimmer training anywhere between 10K and 40K meters per week (depending on my race schedule) and these are hands down my favorite paddles. I've used strokemaster paddles for years, but during recent high mileage weeks found that they were starting to put a lot of stress on my shoulders if I used them for drill and pull sets.

These Finis paddles are much closer to the size of my hand and provide just enough additional resistance that I can feel the difference in a pull set, but don't add too much resistance. Compared to my yellow-size strokemaster paddles, the small size in the Finis Agility paddle is only about 1/3 to 1/2 of the resistance. I also like that these are only held on at the thumb. I find them much more comfortable for my hand position over the rubber tubing loop style paddles.

I have found one of the main selling points, that the thumb-only attachment requires you to put continuous positive pressure on the paddle throughout your stroke to prevent it from falling off (thereby encouraging proper stroke technique), to be a bit oversold. Most swimmers who are competent enough to incorporate paddles into their workout already have a pretty good continuous pull. Even if you still have a bit of planar break/S style pull through, I don't think you're going to get any special feedback from this paddle. You'd have to have a pretty wobbly pull to actually lose this paddle mid-stroke.

Keep your strokemaster paddles for drill sets and use this paddle for lower resistance, improved catch feedback pull sets, especially if you're in an upswing in your training regime....just don't expect it to give you any magical technique feedback if you've already got a reasonably good stroke.

I've used the same pair of rectangular, rubber-tubed hand paddles for the past 13 years and chose these as my upgrade due to poor reviews about rubber tubing currently being used in other paddles. They're... good.
Pros:
- nice contour, comfortable thumb opening
- demands good stroke technique
- can be used for all four strokes
- easy to take on/off during interval workouts

Cons:
- grip encourages odd thumb placement, contributes to cramps (this might get better as I get more used to them - only used three times so far)
- they sink, so if you lose them you'll be diving to the bottom of the pool
- they don't stack, so they take up quite a bit of room in your bag and can be awkward to carry (this seems like a small thing, but when I'm gathering cap, goggles, board, paddles, and fins, I'd prefer something that was a little more easy to manage)

Far better than I hoped! Certainly much improved from my long ago swim team days. I got the medium (2 dot) and large (3 dot). I got the smaller ones for my 20 year old daughter but I use the medium's more often than the larges. The mediums are just a touch bigger than my hands and my arm cycle rate better matches when I use the fins. The large paddles are LARGE and move a lot of water! I use them when I really want to stress my arm muscles and be sore the next day.

Do not be put off by the thumb hole and nothing else to hold them on. I hold my thumb into my hand and the paddle stays right where it is supposed to be. On the rare occasion I catch unintended water they pop right back into place easily and without stopping. I have not ever dropped or lost one during a set.

These paddles are great. I love that they are actually agile and simply slide off of my palms and hang off of my hand by the thumbs while I can adjust my goggles. As a swim instructor I am pleased with my students’ reaction to the versatility of this product. Would recommend.
Advantages:
They sink when dropped (zero flotation)
Clean easily
Allows the swimmer to pause a moment to use fingers (for cap or goggle adjusting) and slip right back into place in an instant
No straps means no replacing of the straps
Fun and interesting design

Disadvantages:
Scratch easily (didn’t come with storage bag)
Some discomfort during butterfly strokes

Description

The Agility Paddles are designed to provide swimmers with instant stroke feedback – even after just 1 lap! The strapless design fits the natural contour of the hand and teaches you to apply positive pressure throughout your stroke. If you do not maintain a proper stroke, the paddle will let you know by shifting or falling off. This simple paddle will keep you conscious of your technique, build strength and heighten your feel for the water.

I have used 4 different hand webbing (provided by the pools I have used) before I settled onto this product. This was at an Equinox pool in the small, medium, and large size, and I settled on the medium size and I have average to large hands. The design of the hand paddles allow them to stay on while I'm swimming (freestyle or crawl) without having to use any harnessing. This lack of harnessing allows me to manipulate the waterproof iPod Shuffle or my Galaxy Fit2 Pro or the Finis center snorkel or nose plug without having to unstrap anything. I don't flip turn either, so I let it slide around my right hand thumb, so that I can use my fingers to push off of the wall, as I turn.

These paddles are great for working on stroke technique. I've tried several other types of paddles over the years and the Finis are by far my favorites. Because they don't have straps, they're much quicker and easier to get on and off, making it simple to alternate repeats of swimming with them and swimming without them. This is a very effective way to help gain that "feel for the water". Also, the fact that they don't have straps means you have to pull correctly so they stay on your hands. With other paddles you can "cheat" a little and the straps keep the paddles on your hands.

My advice is to make sure you don't get them too large. I first tried the mediums and they were too big for my hands and were difficult to use effectively. I am a female with small / medium hands and the small paddles fit perfectly.

I didn't even know about hand paddles until I went swimming with my sister in Boulder. She uses them. She let me use hers and I couldn't wait to use them. The problem then becomes: which do you choose? There are so many on the market. I had used my sister's extensively so I was used to hers.

This one appealed to me because of the look of the design and the slot where you insert your thumb (hers were set up in a different way). These are GREAT. When I go to the health club I usually bring my snorkle, mask and flippers when I swim in the pool. I now leave the flippers behind to put more effort into swimming with the hand paddles. I was a bit wary on the size but the size I ordered was just right. VERY highly recommended.

Nice gadget. They bring your (swim) workout a couple of notches up. Swimming with these paddles, is like you work out in the pool and in the weight room at the same time! Trust me on this, you are going to feel the effects the day after, even with not a rigorous work-out the first times you use them. I really feel the burn on my shoulders and elbows. So take it easy and build your work-out both in duration and intensity gradually, is a good advice I can offer you for these paddles. They worth the investment.

These paddles have improved my stoke. They reinforces good hand placement in the water and I can actually feel the catch/pull to help develop a catch/pull on my weaker side. I've swam for years but my technique has never been very good I should have bought these years ago. I've never swam on swim team or had any lessons beyond the basics and I believe these paddles are helping me become a better swimmer.

AW ACTIVEWRAP Hand & Wrist Ice Pack Wrap With Reusable Hot & Cold Packs, One Size,

AW ACTIVEWRAP Hand & Wrist Ice Pack Wrap With Reusable Hot & Cold Packs, One Size, Black

AW ACTIVEWRAP Hand & Wrist Ice Pack Wrap With Reusable Hot & Cold Packs, One Size, Black

The wrap works well. After using it a couple days, my wrist is actually feeling better. The only trouble I had, and it's really not a big deal, was that the ice packs slide out of their fabric pouches and take a little work to get back in. It's happened a few times as I try to pull the Velcro pouch off the wrist wrap to put it back in the freezer. Like I said, not a big deal, but when your wrist is messed up, it is a bit of work to get the ice pack back into its sleeve.

Overall, it's good, but for some reason I hate having something between my thumb and fingers... it makes my thumb feel disjointed. So I leave the thumb strap off and now I've been just setting my wrist on the ice packs (with a paper towel in between) because I can't quite seem to get the ice on the right spot when the wrap is fully on my wrist.

I have self diagnosed De Quervaines Syndrome. "Thumb-Wrist Tenditis". I'm a lifter, father of 3 babies/toddlers, and I have to use my wrist/hand at work a lot as well. These are three possible causes and I do all three things regularly. I finally decided I needed to intervene because it wasn't getting better. I'm 5 days into a 2 weeks break to start. I decided to stop lifting, limit my mobility with a thumb stabilizer brace, ice my wrist 3-4 times a day, and run ibuprofen and Tylenol around the clock.
So, onto the brace.
Fit- I wear Large in most everything. This fits me fine. It will work for hands-forearms bigger, and smaller than mine. It has a good range for size.
Quality- This seems to be very high quality material. It's a squishy neoprene. The ice packs feel like they'll last a while, and then you can buy replascements when need be. I'm hoping I never have to replace them.
I like that I can position the ice packs where I need them through use of hook & loop Velcro. Also, if I have an area to concentrate on I suppose I would only need one ice pack and that would allow me to leave the second ice pack (it comes with 2) in the freezer to remain cold incase I need it too.
-Results- It stays cold for a bout 15-20 minutes which is all the more you should ice yourself anyways. It does the job. I gain more mobility in my wrist afterwards which shows me that the swelling inside has decreased. I've gained a good bit of mobility in the past 5 days and have faith that this is necessary to recover from this. I highly recommend spending the $28 on this product because it can be used on either hand-wrist-forearm and I feel it's helping my wrist tendinitis everytime I use it.

This isn't some Batman Go-Go Gadget Spiderman slinky thing. Nuh-uh. This will bring your wrist back from wrist hell. Over-exertion while lifting weights must've pulled a muscle (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). I waited half a year for my wrist to recover. It wasn't recovering. That wasn't good. I like my wrists. Wrists are useful. I wanted my wrist back. After I self-diagnosed tendinitis (not to worry, I'm not prone to bouts of hypochondria) I looked at a few things that could save my wrist. One was duct-taping an ice-filled plastic bag to my hand. That's soooo ghetto (like TOTALLY). The other was this Batman Go-Go Gadgdet Spiderman slinky thing. I opted for "The Glove". A few weeks later my wrist was completely healed! (AMAZING!) No. I'm serious. It was only 3 weeks of freezing my hand into a Popsicle for a few hours a day. And now I have this ultra-cool looking Batman Go-Go Gadget Spiderman slinky thing decorating a shelf in my medicine cabinet.

After looking online and reading the reviews, I chose this hot/cold pad for my wrist. I have tendonitis for 11 weeks now. I woke up one morning while taking Levaquin thinking that I must have slept on my wrist wrong. After 3 weeks, I returned to the doctor and found that I got tendonitis ... probably from taking the antibiotic, Levaquin. I have taken it before without any problems until this time. I didn't know tendonitis was a side effect before taking the product and I never asked. (Someone else I knew who took the antibiotic, Cipro. That person's Achilles tendon went out ... he'll probably be on crutches for the year.) When I went to the doctor, he wanted me to soak my wrist in warm water, as hot as comfortable for me. I tried the bucket of hot water, and I even tried the hot wax for hands. The latter didn't reach my wrist and the wax took over an hour to heat up. Both methods were cumbersome, messy, and restrictive. I needed something that can retain heat over my wrist and still allow me to walk around doing chores or typing on the computer. The first night that I used it after work, the next day my wrist actually felt some relief.

There are 2 gel-like packs with Velcro pouches. You could also Velcro both enclosed gel packs, one on top and one on the bottom to the inside of this wrist wrap. Using both top and bottom gel packs tend to feel like a weight. I just use one of the packs for the top of my wrist where my pain occurs. I microwave the gel pack in warm water for 1 minute 20 seconds, wipe the water off the gel-pack, put the gel back into the Velcro sleeves, then Velcro the enclosed gel pouch to the wrap (1 1/2 minutes was too hot; I had to put a handkerchief between the gel-pack and my hand. The unit does stay warm for 15-20 minutes. Using this while typing is a bit more difficult because your fingers are somewhat squeeze together in order to secure the wrap. Nevertheless, it's doable. I have not yet used the gel as a cold pack.

PROs: less restrictive in activities because you are not corded to a plug, shapes to your hand, stays securely, convenient by microwave heating the gel pack under water in a container, and it can be taken to the office for use, stays warm for roughly 15-20 minutes, can be flipped around for either left or right hand.

CONs: doesn't stay hot longer, a little harder to type while wearing this.

RECOMMENDATIONS: for tendonitis in the wrist, you may consider using the Futuro brand thumb stabilizer. This prevents your thumb from folding toward your palm which causes sharp pain to the upper wrist tendon. The Futuro thumb stabilizer also braces the wrist to not let you flex your wrist too much ... but still allow some movements. Tbe Futuro thumb stabilizer: FUTURO(TM) Deluxe Thumb Stabilizer 45843EN, Small/Medium

I took photos of what you get in an order and uploaded the pictures.

I Love this product and I use it very night.
I had three wrist surgeries and I not planning on getting any more surgeries.
So, I thought why don't I give this a try. My frozen bag of peas wasn't cutting it.
With this product I am able to maneuver around if I need to.
This product just makes you feel like you're getting a cool soothing massage for your wrist it's heavenly.
It is heavy in all the right places. It makes you have dedicated me time to just sit and rest.
It is comfortable.
I love the fit.
It's wonderful, I can't wait to get home every night to put this on.
Thank you.
It feels great.

I have two of these: one of the new model (~mid 2013) and one of the prior model (~2011 or 2012). They are both great, and I use them often. I recommend them to anyone who needs to ice their wrists often, such as for carpal-tunnel syndrome or other wrist injury treatment.

The only drawback is that the new pouches aren't as securely shut as the old pouches, which means you can drop the ice pack inside the pouch if you put them freezer wrong or shake them around too much. But once the pouches are attached to the wrap and the wrap is on your wrist, you won't have any problems.

One word of warning: the gel pouches get REALLY REALLY COLD. In the first thirty seconds or so, I often have to take the braces off because they are so insanely cold; it hurts to keep them on. But, after a minute or so, they reach a reasonable temperature and hold it for a good 25 minutes. I don't set my freezer to its lowest setting or anything, but these still get really cold. I have tried putting a thin paper towel in-between the pouches and my skin, but that tends to block too much of the cold.

Overall, I strongly recommend these to anyone who needs to ice their wrist often.

MY Wife recently had carpal tunnel surgery on her wrist, we look high an low to find an ice pack that would fit your wrist,
plenty of them fit your back, knees, an legs, but none were confortable for your hands.
Found this on amazon, comes with two heatable an freezable inserts, an gets cold in an hour.
which is a big plus if you have an injury an need ice 24/7.
we are very pleased with the item, an delivery, an personal company contact via email
to make sure we were satisfied with their product, they are a small family owned business
an actually make it her in the USA.
Buy it you won't be disappointed.

I had a wrist issue that needed to be iced often. Typically this meant attempting to balance ice pack on wrist or wrap it in place somehow, which most of the time rendered both hands useless during the icing. This wrap was not only easy to put on but the ice packs that came with felt cold like actual ice and stayed cold for a long time. It is also easy to adjust the ice bag sleeves and loop around thumb to ensure proper fit. Great product.

Great product, great service! Purchased this for my daughter who is a professional musician and suffers from the amount of playing she does each day. This gives her the physical support she needs, temperature therapy required, and allows her to maintain her schedule without trying to hold an ice pack in place or having to worry about heating pad cords. Would definitely recommend this product and seller!

Quality is better than expected. I just toss the whole thing into the freezer rather than removing the gel inserts. I wish it were longer because my tendinitis goes up my forearm, not just in my wrist. If you have trouble wrapping it around your wrist one-handed, as I did, try closing it up and slipping your hand through the end... it's plenty stretchy enough. Wish it were cheaper, but glad I bought it. More practical than the bag of frozen peas I was using before :-)

KT Tape KT Performance+ Blister Prevention Tape, Designed for Athletes, Breathable, Durable, Conforming, Precut 3.5 Inch Strips

KT Tape KT Performance+ Blister Prevention Tape, Designed for Athletes, Breathable, Durable, Conforming, Precut 3.5 Inch Strips

I will have to update this review later as I use the tape more, but my first impression is "so-so". It's supposed to protect your skin by providing a different surface for your shoe to rub against so you don't get a blister. I already have a blister. I attempted to use this over the top of KT's blister pads so I could get back into my soccer cleats and keep on running / playing. Result was not great. The blister pads don't hold up to physical activity. The height of the blister pads is the same as the width of these blister tape sections. Thus the tape really only held at either end. Laterally it was good. Vertically it had no chance of holding the blister pad in place and doing its job as a new contact surface. In the end it wound up rolled up inside my sock doing nothing. It and the blister pad came off.

Once the blister heals up I'll try these strips alone to see if it prevents further development of blisters. If so, my rating will go up. For now I question the strength of the adhesive and how well it holds up to the force you see in the heel of a soccer cleat as you stop, start, turn, cut, and kick.

Edit: I have now used the strips by themselves and it's better. I was playing soccer last night, using the same boots which caused the blister the first time around. The KT strip performed well. When applied to dry, clean skin it adheres and seems to stay in place. I'm a bit older and out of shape so I can't say I'm running, stopping, cutting, and kicking as hard as I would have 20 years ago, but the tape was still in place after 2 hours of running around. I could feel the heel cup on the new cleats rubbing, but only the top edge of the tape started to roll up (maybe a few millimeters). There was no new blister at the end of the day. I'll keep using the strips until I feel the cleats are broken in well enough.

Learning from my previous trip, I took this one for my recently concluded backpacking trip in Patagonia. It successfully prevented any blisters in the area where I applied it. As I sweat a lot, it was quite reassuring to see it still being attached.

If it wouldn't have been for this tape, I am sure I would have got blisters like the last time. Can't recommend this high enough. 5/5.

I swear by this stuff! I walked 60 miles in 3 days as part of the Komen 3 day and did not get a single blister - thanks to this stuff! I wrap my heels in the longer version and it works like a charm. Easy on, easy off. I would re-apply each day as it doesn't do so well after a shower. Love it!

I love the KT brand tape. It is so much better than other brands I have tried. I live in Asia and therefore do a lot of walking. There are times when my wife and I use lots of bandaids. I haven’t used this blister prevention tape yet, but it will be in my backpack for those times when it is needed.

These are thin oversized regular bandaids but so much better. They stick well and really work. The roll came in a nice plastic container to store them nicely.

Description

KT PERFORMANCE+ BLISTER PREVENTION TAPE from KT TAPE is the ultimate in athlete blister prevention care. These premium synthetic non-woven fabric strips are designed to help prevent athlete-related abrasion injuries, such as blisters, chaffing, and hot spots, during the rigors of athletic training and competition. Blister Prevention Tape has strong adhesive to help it stay in place and conform easily to the skin to allow full mobility while staying active.

Barrier tape has been proven to reduce the occurrence of blisters.

Completely stopped my hotspots that form every time I run. Didn’t slide around, bunch up, or fall off from getting wet like bandaids. BTW bandaids did not prevent hotspots or blisters on my feet.

Even my daughter liked these and she’s 5. I used them on her for camp when a new pair of shoes were giving her blisters. They were intended for my med kit for my running drop bags but dual purpose is better!

I used these for my wedding since I figured the new shoes would be digging into my ankles. They held up well and were perfect for the long night of dancing. I can see how constant rubbing/sweating could un-stick them from your skin, but they'd need some serious glue in order to hold in those cases.

Love these, no matter how I tie or prep, long runs give my blisters. These wonderful things helped me so much. Blister free on a half marathon down hill. Will definitely continue to use.

I get blisters very easily on my feet and heels. I recently took a trip to Europe where were walked at least 6 miles every day. Once I started getting a blister, I put these on and I was good to go for the rest of the trip. You may be able to wear these for multiple days but with the walking we did and showering, they came off. Would recommend to anyone even if they didn’t ask my opinion.

Tear-Aid Fabric Repair Kit, Gold Box Type A (2

Tear-Aid Fabric Repair Kit, Gold Box Type A (2 Pack)

Tear-Aid Fabric Repair Kit, Gold Box Type A (2 Pack)

If you own big kites with bladders. THIS IS A MUST HAVE for bladder repair. This is an exceptional value compared to small kite patch kits that give you a tiny piece. Make sure if doing bladder repairs to get this one type A only! Very pleased with the outcome of my fixes that happen once in a blue moon. Its a major session saver when you have a flat kite in the middle of nowhere.

This stuff saved my new boat cover from going into the dump, after my wife accidentally, [she said], hit my boat backing out of the driveway, and tore the heck out of my almost brand new cover. I was able to patch the rips, small holes and tears with this tape and it does not come off!!! Through snow, rain, lots of wind and hail, these patches stayed on and still work well!! Great stuff!!!
Thanks again, Bill T.

Is working great so far. I put them on some vinyl seats on a boat at the start of the season. So far they have not started to peal and have been water proof. I took one start off because they are really difficult to apply without having creases. Even if you are able to smooth the creases out they come back.

Works much much better than Gorilla tape when sticking to fabric. For my application it would've been better if it didn't stretch but still is working at holding up the glass window on the soft top of a miata where the stitching was coming apart. Gorilla tape barely sticks to fabric but this stuff is super sticky.

Just what we needed for our 13’ wide umbrella. It had a small hole from a tree branch falling on it. Used the tear aid and not one problem. The umbrella was $750 and I wasn’t about to have it get any more damaged or throw it away.

Worked as advertised. I patched a small tear in the bottom corner of my pop-up camper fabric. It is in a stressful spot. Spent two days camping and it held.

Easy to install and it seems to be holding up well.

Used it to repair a tear in the roof canvas of a net gazebo and has held up through several rain and wind storms.

This stuff really works!

Pressure Positive Co. The Palmassager

Pressure Positive Co. The Palmassager (Blue)

Pressure Positive Co. The Palmassager (Blue)

Awesome! My boyfriend loves getting massages and I don't really mind giving them. The only issue is that my small hands get very tired. With this thing, I can give longer massages since its doing most of the work for me. Its great! I just apply some pressure and massage oil and its gravy! I took off one star though because its kind of small even for my small hands that when pushing down my hand still touches the skin and gets oil all over it. I hate having oily hands so that sucks, but that sounds like a ME problem and not the product itself. LOL!

I've been looking for a decent massage tool, and this was certainly an affordable option. It arrived looking exactly like the picture.

The plastic is very sturdy, durable and smooth. The flat hand-held portion makes it easy to push down and use weight when massaging. The only issue is that the plastic gets stuck on your skin, so I only use it over a shirt or a sheet.

My wife and I love to give each other massages but our hands are starting to get sore a lot cause we're getting old.. this helps a lot. Works best with a shirt, and doesn't feel as good as a real massage, but it is SO much easier on your hands.. you can do a whole hour with this thing and your hands feel ok. it's got little finger grooves on the top of the legs so if you want to just use one leg to dig into a sore muscle, you have a good grip. Seems well made and made in the USA!! Way to go PPC

Only problem is having someone to rub your back with them! However, it is easy to rub someone's back with these, and less personal, then to give an actual backrub and they feel wonderful! Who would have thought these little plastic things could feel so great! I was with my daughter at Origins and we were at the check out stand. I saw their version of these called jackknobbers and asked the gal what they were for. She showed me and I was ready to buy on the spot. However, I shopped around and found these to be the cheapest price for these. I highly reccommend them!

Fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. Helps to save your hand while giving a massage.

I love that you can apply pressure in 3 different areas. It allows you to massage another person for a longer time without your hands tiring. If I could change one thing I would add a textured pad for the palm of your hand so when you apply pressure, the massager doesn't slip out from underneath. Overall this is a great product and I'm glad I purchased it.

This thing doesn't look like much; don't get me wrong, it looks exactly as pictured. It just looks like cheap plastic. But apparently it is phenomenal for massages. I'm weird apparently, I don't like massages. But my wife loves them, and this thing does the trick. Its comfortable for me to hold and give her a back massage for a while, and she doesn't tire of it. Before my hands would get sore.

This little thing is great. No more aching hands from rubbing too hard. Just use this and bam, problem solved!

I got this for my wife during her pregnancy. It came quickly and with minimal packaging. It's a great product to relieve some pressure points, especially on her back. It's about the size of my palm and I have small hands, but it's very easy to use. The product glides gently on skin and is allows for a romantic evening. I'd easily purchase another.

Sunscreen Lotion 100 Packets SPF30+ and PABA-Free

Sunscreen Lotion 100 Packets SPF30+ and PABA-Free

The best part of these is definitely the size of the packets. They are small enough to stuff in backpacks or purses, and you don't have to worry about a bottle or spray can opening and making a giant mess all over everything. I went though airport security with them in a travel kit and didn't have an issue, but your mileage may vary I suppose.

This is my second purchase of these from Safetec, and I still honestly can't believe how much a packet was able to cover. I had no problem doing my arms, hands, legs, neck, top of my back and face with a single packet when I was walking to an aquarium downtown a few days ago. To be fair, I wasn't in a bathing suit, I had a shirt and shorts on, but one packet covered everything, plus under some of my clothes. It would probably take around 1.5 to 2 packets if you were going to the beach and covering 100% of yourself. 1 packet was more than enough for non-beach use.

Best value per ounce I could find on Amazon at the time. I bought these to include in welcome gift bags for our destination wedding. Given the small size, they are about the size of ketchup packets, I purchased a couple packages of 100 so I can put 4 in each bag. It won't be enough for the week but we thought it might be nice if someone runs low towards the end of the trip. I received 100 in the package. There is not an expiration date on the individual packet or on the bag they came in.

Took this on my trip to Belize and it was great. The packets are small, like ketchup packets. Two were good for my whole body, but my husband needed like five. It does feel greasy on, just fyi, but the convenience of them and not having to bring a bottle everywhere we went was awesome. Would order again.

I bought the box of 25 for myself to take on vacation for touch-up applications during the day and my son, who's an avid cyclist, saw them and said they would be perfect to take on a ride. As you can imagine, space is super limited on a bicycle, so these ketchup-sized packets are perfect to take along and reapply sunscreen a few hours into a ride. Got him the package of 100. It ought to last him the rest of the season!

LOVE THESE LITTLE SUNSCREEN PACKETS! I have a business and we sell a lot of sunscreen, as we are in a Harbor and have a lot of people around the are in the spring, summer and fall seasons. We carry large bottles for the most part, and the feed back has been the masses would like to have smaller options. VIOLA! I found my little packets of sunscreen and they are literally flying off the shelves when the sun is shining! they are

Description

Safety's SPF30+ Sunscreen Lotion is PABA-Free and comes in a bag of 100 sealed packets for your convenience. Apply liberally before sun exposure and as needed.

I really like these small packets because they are so portable. I can keep one in a first aid kit, pocket, or backpack and have just enough sunscreen with me when I need it. Sure beats lugging around a bigger container or not having sunscreen and ending up with a sunburn. It doesn't have much of a fragrance to it which is good. Getting 100 packets was probably way more than I needed but I always have one with me when I need it. The packets are actually enough for two people if you are just applying to face, neck and arms. If you're heading to the pool and need more full body coverage, the packets are probably not the way to go.

I purchased this as a donation for our local county hospital. They are having a free skin cancer screening and these will be given to anyone who would like to have one. Nice packaging and a great product for anyone seeking protection from the harmful rays of the sun. Thanks

I used these in a "swag bag' along with some other stuff for a charity golf tournament. It was a VERY hot day and I had many comments about how happy folks were to have these in their bags!

It arrived quickly and just as described. We are using it for a health fair teaching about how harmful sunburns can be. We thought this would be perfect to give out along with info to children and their parents

We had a lot of PALE mid-westerners come to my daughter's wedding in Scottsdale, AZ. These were great hotel bag stuffers.

Tear-Aid Vinyl Underwater Repair Kit, Orange Box Type B (2

Tear-Aid Vinyl Underwater Repair Kit, Orange Box Type B (2 Pack)

Tear-Aid Vinyl Underwater Repair Kit, Orange Box Type B (2 Pack)

Our 3-person towable had a 1/4 inch leak on a seam. I had tried to fix it using other products but these came off. Another towable we have got punctured as well. I fixed it with this which worked great. I thought I would try it on the original towable which the kids like better. It worked great. It's holding much better than the other products I tried. We got a few more outings on it before the fall came.

This stuff is a lifesaver for above ground pools. I've used it now on two different pools over the past 5 years and even after taking the pools down each winter, this stuff sticks and holds a seal. Just follow the instructions and don't foul the patch. And try to keep the backing as dry as possible before you apply it. The backing quickly falls apart and can be a pain when trying to separate the patch from the backing. Keep a paper towel handing to dry your hands before you try and pull it apart.

I bought this specifically to use underwater to repair small whole in pool. This product is AMAZING! worked better than I hoped, especially after I initially started to apply incorrectly (and then realized my mistake and back tracked). The fact that it is a tape and didn't have to apply an adhesive separately was a huge plus.

Great. I get to keep BOTH the old waterbed mattress and the needle-clawed cat. And you can apply the product when the surface is wet or dry.

Worked like a charm for a giant 12" L-shaped tear. We needed two kits. Amazing product! Should've tried this first.

Hinged Knee Brace: Shock Doctor Maximum Support Compression Knee Brace - For ACL/PCL Injuries, Patella

Hinged Knee Brace: Shock Doctor Maximum Support Compression Knee Brace - For ACL/PCL Injuries, Patella Support, Sprains, Hypertension and More for Men and Women - (1 Knee Brace, Large)

Hinged Knee Brace: Shock Doctor Maximum Support Compression Knee Brace - For ACL/PCL Injuries, Patella Support, Sprains, Hypertension and More for Men and Women - (1 Knee Brace, Large)

I had dislocated my knee 2 days before I received this brace. I was in such pain I couldn't move. I was literally screaming in pain. My wife was ready to call the EMS. After about an hour, I finally got it to pop back into place. The first thing I did was get on Amazon and find this brace. Do not want to go through that pain again. I had my rotator cuff torn in 2 places in a motorcycle accident and the pain didn't compare to dislocating a knee. Please do as it suggests and actually measure your knee 2" below the kneecap. It has a sizing chart and it suggest getting 1 size larger. Personally, I didn't see the logic in this, but my wife convinced me to follow instructions and buy the XXL. I am so glad I did, it fits very snugly but not so much that it cuts off circulation. It keep the lateral movement of my knee almost to nothing. I do find I have to take it off at night when I sleep just to let it breathe. I would recommend this to anyone with any kind of knee problems. It gives it the support it needs and keeps you from being in agonizing pain. If I could give this a 10 star rating, I would.
If you found my review in any way helpful, please take a moment and hit the button to the right.
Thank You.

I totally blew my knee out during Krav Maga class by landing off-balance on my left leg. I never had a knee injury before so it was a new experience. I couldn't even put any weight on it without it feeling like my leg was going to separate at the knee. We went to the local Walgreens and got a basic pair of crutches and the best knee brace they had on the shelf, which is the Mueller Hinged Wraparound Knee Brace, Black, Lg. I wore that one for about 5 days before it started to feel like it wasn't giving me much support, no matter how much I tightened it. I was getting into my car and moved my leg just right (or just wrong) and tweaked my knee again, even with the brace on.

Knowing that my knee is worth the expense to keep from re-injuring it, I ordered this Shock Doctor knee brace and was thankful that Amazon has Sale Day delivery in my area.

++++ HOW TO ORDER THE RIGHT SIZE ++++
Be sure to order the right size! ** Ignore the note about it running small! You want to err on the side of it being small because it does stretch and break in! **

In case you need it, here are the sizes:
S = 12.25" - 13.25"
M = 13" - 14"
L = 13.75" - 14.75"
XL = 14.5" - 15.5"
XXL = 15.25" - 16.25"

My upper calf is 15" in diameter 2" below the kneecap as instructed to measure, so I ordered a Large. Yes, it was a tad small, but it worked out for me.

++++ HOW TO PUT IT ON ++++
To install it, slide it over your leg like you would anything else. It will feel VERY tight in the calf area. Grab the sides of the top opening where the little grippers are and pull it on until it is in place, then wrap the straps around accordingly. YOU WANT IT TO BE TIGHT IN THE CALF THE FIRST TIME YOU WEAR IT!

It will seem like it is way too small the first day. Also, the straps that wrap around the back of your knee feel like they are digging in the back of your leg. Adjust them once in a while or put a think piece of cloth on the back of your knee for a while. After a while, they break in as well.

Day 1 - will feel very tight.
Day 2 - will still feel very snug, but more comfortable.
Day 3 - you can wear this all day and not even think about it.

It definitely needs time to break in and stretch to fit your leg, but once it does, it is awesome.

++++ THE SUPPORT IS GREAT! ++++
So let's talk about the most important part...THE SUPPORT...

The first time I put it on and tightened the straps down, I felt like I could do jumping jacks on a sprained knee. Of course, I knew better...but it feels VERY solid and VERY secure. It drastically helped me get back to walking around and building strength in my knee again. I suppose the only downside, other than the break-in period, is the confidence it gives you that if you are not careful, you can start acting "normal", overdo it and hurt your leg again. Remember, it is just a support and not something built by Tony Stark. Also, you cannot bend your leg fully as the straps in the back get in the way, but if you are wearing this, you probably shouldn't be bending your leg that far anyway.

Of course, everyone's injuries and body structure is different so your results may vary, but this was without a doubt the best I could buy for my injury and to avoid injuring it again.

Very impressed with the increased stability. I injured my knee playing indoor soccer (a couple times) and did not get it checked out by a doctor. Since the first injury my knee has been "wobbly" side-to-side, and I was fearful of putting full weight on it when slowing or pivoting. After wearing this brace twice in-game, I feel much more confident in making cuts and placing weight at various angles that I could not achieve without the added support. I would certainly not recommend others use this brace as an alternative to seeing a medical professional as I have, but it does do a great job of giving back confidence for someone who is working on rebuilding strength in an injured knee.

There are so many positive things about this brace that make it great. The fabric is very strong and is stitched well. The X straps hold everything in place better than any other brace I've used in the past (outside of the $1500 one insurance paid for after a full ACL reconstruction), and it does not slide down my leg after time like most braces tend to do. I very much like that the hinges lock at 180 degrees to prevent hyper-extension. And finally, the Velcro on the straps are legit and does not let go until giving a firm pull.

The one word of caution I would offer, as many others have also commented, is to buy the size larger than you think you need. This beast is meant to hug your knee tight, and can be a bit of an effort to get it on and off. That said, the tiny struggle for putting on and taking off is absolutely worth the added support and confidence while wearing it. Pro tip: I use the ends of hinges to pull up and push down to help move it into place. To again echo others, this brace is not meant to be worn for several hours at a time. It's not uncomfortable, but I definitely don't forget that I'm wearing it, and it is a relief once it's off again.

There aren't any negatives about the brace that would make me think twice about buying another one of these if necessary or recommending to someone else in my situation. Bang for the buck, this brace is the real deal.

My wife tore her ACL completely playing soccer and sprained her MCL as well. The clinic that diagnosed this tried to sell her a $375 DonJoy knee brace that sold for $180 or something on Amazon. I told her not to buy it and that we'd find something that was cheaper but didn't sacrifice on quality or comfort. Before you know it I'm 20 tabs deep in knee braces, ACL tear stories, etc. and I have 30 choices with 30 different people telling me different things. I narrowed it down between this one (Shock Doctor), the Mueller Hg80, and some McDavid braces. The expensive one at the clinic had been long and gone up the thigh a good ways and down the calf a good ways - the stability this lent was key to my wife. In the end I chose the Shock Doctor because I looked like it was really stability-focused and myself and more importantly my wife have been very pleased with the purchase.

The brace has some size but I wouldn't call it especially bulky, I'll try and get some pictures up. It goes a good way up the thigh and a good way down the calf and has metal hinges running the full length on each side of the knee. My wife has athletic (read: large) calves and thighs from playing sports all her life - so sizing and good, strong straps were a big concern. We measured her knee 2 inches below mid-knee like the pic shows and I think it was 14.6 inches, right in-between Large and X-Large. Follow the advice in the chart, if you're near the top range and within the bottom range of the larger size, just go with the larger size. The X-Large ended up being a solid choice and has worked well for 3 weeks now even as her swelling has gone down and her knee has gone closer to the large size.

For your sake, ignore the names "X-Large", "Large", etc. and just stick to the measurements. My wife is not a big person, but the X-Large sizing was right, so we went with it. It might feel weird ordering an XL for a tiny girl, but just listen to the measurements, not the labels.

Materials are very sturdy and durable. The straps haven't loosened or come undone a single time. The rest of it has a solid feel. The metal doesn't squeak. Overall the materials work well to really stabilize the knee and help give the feeling of some extra stability to a potentially wobbly knee.

Comfort is great. Like most braces you want to take it off occasionally but if you have to wear it all day, it's very doable. No sore spots from rubbing, etc.

Overall a very good brace that is very good quality for a solid price. If you're like me and reviewing a million reviews on a million different products, I can say this one has performed well and if you get the size right, I don't think it'll let you down.

The product works great, the biggest issue all of the reiews have is that it's missing a sizing chart. So here is the chart taken directly from the box:

Measure 2 inches below your knee cap
S = 12.25" - 13.25"
M = 13" - 14"
L = 13.75" - 14.75"
XL = 14.5" - 15.5"
XXL = 15.25" - 16.25"

The reason you measure the top of your calf is because that's the narrowest part of the brace and you want to make sure the brace will fit over and comfortably of your calf.

1 Ultra Knee Brace (875) from Shock Doctor

Okay so I've been living with this knee pain for about 4 years I can't trust it to not go out and fall I got this knee brace today I've had it on for about an hour my knee pain is half of what it was before wearing this brace I have more support wearing this brace than the one I actually got from the doctor it's comfortable my leg is not hot it's not sweating underneath and it doesn't make me overly hot so far I love this knee brace I will be using it on vacation when I go hiking on Mount Saint Helens in my opinion this has to be the best knee brace I've ever had for me

After 1 year of heavy use, this knee brace was still going strong. I just bought another because I figured the first was breaking down and protecting my knee is worth more than $50. I had good luck with the quality - all seams still intact and strong hinges are a little bit looser but
still fine.

I play indoor court sport (handball) several hours per week. Lot of cutting and twisting. I couldn't play without a brace. I've tried several others and this one is the best for my use. Other shock doctor also pretty good.

Mine is a size M - used the size chart and it fits well. Was tight at first and little uncomfortable but once I broke it in has been good. Better it is tight at the beginning or will be too loose later. I find I need to adjust the velcro straps sometimes during games just to make it tighter, but never had problems with it coming loose. I'm surprised to read some reviews where people are having problems with quality or fit. Unlucky I guess. Hoping my second one goes the distance again.

Adding another note: I dive for the ball with some frequency and sliding across the floor can damage the brace. There is mesh fabric that covers the hinge and the sharp (rubber) edge on the hinge cut through the fabric there. I've patched it a couple times. Not a fault with the brace per se just I'm using harder than was intended by design. Still a great brace for the money and my knee is doing well despite few hours per week of hard use. Better to spend a few $ replacing braces than a few thousand $ trying to repair knees.

I like it BUT...
ORDER LARGER THAN YOU NEED. If you order too small the aluminum hinge (which causes a "lump" inside the brace) will dig into your MCL and possibly make it worse. If you order too large you can place an elastic support underneath the brace to add cushion and fill any empty space.

Worn on one leg with shorts is also not possible without the strap scratching (seriously) the bare leg. Plan on taping either the other leg or the brace to protect your bare skin.

The chart says I'm an L. But it takes an XXL to fit. The XL is too small, even though the chart says an L should fit. I measured VERY CAREFULLY and used the largest measurement I could get. A Large should fit me easily according to the chart, but it takes TWO sizes larger to keep the hinge from digging into my knee!!! If the hinge supports were flush with the inside this wouldn't be a problem. One star off for that and the bad chart.

IMO the sizing chart is responsible for many returns. Personally I would order TWO sizes too large and use an elastic support underneath IF NECESSARY. You still may not need it.

Also don't expect miracles. You won't be playing sports with a sprained ligament just because you put this on if you can't without it. It's also a little bulky so some sports may present a problem.

All that said, not a bad product.

After one knee experiencing a full MCL tear, I was not able to ski without a lot of pain and discomfort. After the other knee suffered something like a grade 1 MCL sprain, I knew I had to find something. At a hockey players forum or website, I found various recommended knee braces., This was the top rated brace. And I tell you, its amazing. After years of not skiing, I got back on the slopes and withing half a day, I was back on the double black diamonds.

Very important to notes:
- pay close attention to the sizing guides. They are extremely tight to begin with. Buy the size smaller. They will break in and form to your knee after several uses.
- Wear some kind of under armor between your skin and the brace, otherwise it may be impossible to take them off until they've been broken in.
- do NOT use the pull tabs to put them on or take them off. The pull tabs will tear!
- do not overtighten the velcro straps. At full bent knee, they will also tear.
- to put them on, I use the bottom of the hinge to push them up over the knee and into place.
- to take them off, I use the top of the hinge to push them down.

I recommend these for any sport where there is lateral or forward knee support needed, like hockey, skiing, rollerblading. I'm not sure how they would do in basketball or tennis, where you have top do some fast running. They are VERY tight fitting at first, and I cant imagine running in them, however, they might loosen up enough to do that. I have come to terms with just getting different braces for different activities, based on the type of strain put on my knees.

These, in my opinion, are as good as braces that are sold for hundreds of dollars. I will be using them for skiing as well as dirt biking.

I really love this knee brace!!! I highly recommend this product and I read a variety of reviews from others who've purchased it so that's been a great help. Definitely purchase a size larger than what it says in the size chart as it does run a bit small. I bought the medium because I do have built calves but have lost a lot of muscle on the rest of my leg because of my injury. After I ruptured my ACL and tore both of my meniscus' I was wearing a full leg brace. My physio recommended I buy a hinged knee brace until I can have surgery because the full leg brace started to aggravate my knee. The shock doctor knee brace is great in supporting my leg because I can't straighten my knee and bend it past 70 degrees. So a lot of the time my knee is slightly bent. The first day is uncomfortable as it is still tight and the hinges dig into your skin a bit but it will loosen overtime and become more comfortable. I'm not used to sleeping with it yet (side sleeper) because of the hinges putting pressure on my leg .

Regardless of still being in pain from my meniscus tears this product really takes a load off my knee even though I can only apply minimal weight bearing to my injured knee. It's promising and takes a short period to adjust to it. I've been using it for almost 3 days.
