After some initial concerns I am very happy with my Timer Caps! I honestly believe these easily increase medication compliance for many people and that increased compliance can improve outcomes and even save lives!

In full disclosure, I am a pharmacy technician in no way affiliated with this product or its manufacturer. I don't believe my employer has considerd carrying this product, yet!

I purchased the set with two small bottles and two large bottles to test with family members struggling with medication compliance. We've had the most success with family members who only take one or two medications either daily or twice daily. Family members prescribed more than two medications tend to prefer pill organizers, monthly and varied schedule medications are better handled by other means.

My biggest concern with Timer Caps the was the "disposable" nature of this product. At $5 to $10 per bottle/cap pair and a likely 1 year battery life I was not excited to replace these so frequently. Luckily I've found the batteries are quite replaceable, see below for instructions. The designers made a great choice to create these as disposable. This design reduces complexity and fragility of the product, avoids issues with users replacing with an incompatible battery, and should increase repeat purchases.

I'm still concerned with the (small) potential for the switch to be fouled by dust from certain pills. Also I would love if an even smaller size were available for travel or daily carry.

I love this product and believe in its value. While not appropriate for every situation, I truly believe the Timer Caps can improve outcomes and even save lives! I hope that my battery replacement instructions improve sales and use by those who may have otherwise been turned away by the "disposable" design.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT:

You will need a LR41 button cell battery, a small Phillips screwdriver (I used a PH000), a small flat screwdriver or similar pry tool, and possibly a razor blade (box cutter or Exacto) or sharp knife.

First, note the orientation of the adhesive plastic label on top of the cap. Mark the cap and the label so it is not installed upside down later. Begin at the edge of the label and gently remove it. You may need the razor or sharp knife to lift an edge as this label fits snugly within a rim moulded into the cap.

With the cap removed from the bottle and upside-down, begin by gently prying the loose clear disc away from the retainer tabs moulded in the white cap. The disc should come out easily and have a small spring attached. Set these aside. You should now be able to identify the four small tabs retaining the timer within the cap. Carefully press these in and toward the top of the cap one-by-one. Do not try to force each tab out on the first press, just go around to each tab a few times until the timer is released.

With the timer now free from the cap, note the orientation of the metal switch (bent tab above the center of the timer) and battery (printed side towards switch.) remove two small Phillips screws retaining the metal switch and the battery. The battery may fall out or may need to be pried out with a tool.

Now you can place the new battery in the correct orientation and refasten the switch with the two screws. Align the timer to its position in the cap and press gently to reseat it. Align the label on the cap and press it back on, paying attention to seat it well within the rim so debris does not get under the label. Carefully press the clear plastic disc back in place, be sure the spring reaches the switch and does not bind. Finally you should close the Timer Cap back onto the bottle and wait few minutes to assure it is working properly.

I have some early-onset dementia, and taking daily medication has become tricky, to say the least. This nifty bottle cap counts the minutes and hours since you last opened the bottle. It's simple and effective, with no need to program it. For as-needed medications, there is a serious risk of overdose with memory loss, and this is absolutely perfect for keeping track of when I last took something. With my day-of-the-week pill sorter, I have to be sure what day it is today, and be certain that I knew what day it was yesterday, in order to know if I might have skipped a day or doubled up. My doctor suggested an app that sends me reminders on my phone and creates a checklist, but that requires me to A. know where my phone is and B. remember to use the checklist when I'm taking meds, all of which sounds easy enough, but it's NOT. I needed a simple solution, and these timer caps are PERFECT.

I bought these for my mother who is getting up there in age. She told me that it has been the best gift she has ever received!!
She has been immobilized due to a drunk driver smashing into her car, and had numerous back surgeries to try to repair her back. Because of this, she has been in constant pain since then, for over 20 years. She now lives in an independent senior community, where there is a staff of people that will come to do house keeping. Well recently, she has been coming up short on her pain meds. We don't have any proof of people taking them, but it's common speculation that workers will sneak some from residents. Needless to say, these caps will keep track of time has passed so she will always know if they have been tampered with. We haven't had a problem since.
Thank you for inventing this! We greatly appreciate this!

I have used these caps and bottles for years to manage my pain medications! My husband originally bought me an older style of cap from our local drugstore but it didn’t have a replaceable battery. But they lasted a long time so I bought bottles and caps from the company website that were the same. They lasted a long time but I was thrilled when they came out with caps with replaceable batteries! So, I bought some of those. I recently bought these bottles because I needed some for my other medications. I do have one minor complaint about the ones I got this time and that is the childproof ring fits so tightly that it’s difficult to turn and opens almost every time with little to no effort! I don’t really need the childproof cap but I do like having it on since I have small nieces and nephews. I bought extra batteries for the one I already had because the display was too dim to read. I recently contacted the company about getting new labels because the one on that bottle was so worn you couldn’t read it. I was first told that they included new labels with new batteries. But when I said I had just purchased new batteries from Amazon they said they would send me new labels! I will continue to be a customer of TimerCap LLC!

I've scoured the net and all thats out there are alarms and reminders but nothing that will show you evidence of tampering like this. They come with child safety rings but I don't use them since it's just me. I was losing track, after a surgery, of when I was taking dangerous medications so these have literally been life saving! I can also make sure that nobody is stealing from me when I'm not alone. One of the batteries died early and the company sent me new caps and even new batteries so I could change them myself. As long as you are careful not to damage them in the process they are reusable! I love that there were extra labels too. Now if they could make a mini for day travel that would be most excellent!!!

I really love these! This not only fits on my normal-sized prescriptions, but unlike other timer caps, YOU CAN PUT IT ON NORMAL VITAMIN/SUPPLEMENT BOTTLES TOO!!! Heck yeah!!!!!!!! :D

If you sometimes are not sure you have taken you medication, that will be totally resolved with these little devices. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them! easy to use, easy to read, and have helped me take my meds when due and not miss or double take them. Great devices!

These work great. When the cap is off timer is off and when cap is on the timer starts from zero. Very easy to use - no programming. I like using the medium size bottles that come with the 4 pack. I don't need to worry if the cap fits other bottles; I just transfer the med to the new bottle and label it if needed. Great customer service. Murray John Ellis

I use one of these for pills that I take once a day. Sometimes I can't remember if I've taken them yet or not, so I just check to see if the lid says it's been about 24 hours, or if it was only 10 minutes ago that I last opened it.

I plan on using another bottle for Advil next time I end up in enough pain that I'm going to be taking a lot. Then I can be sure I'm not overdosing without having to remember when I last took a pill, just by looking at the cap.

I never have to wonder if or when. This was very helpful when I was on an antibiotic after I dropped some shears on my foot, and I was really not wanting to get it infected. I wish the pharmacy had these available and that these were standard!!
