My shoes were terrible! To the point of being able to smell them while wearing them. I used this for 30 mins. I've worn those leather dress shoes about 5 times in the last 2 weeks and not once have they smelled. I haven't had to use the light since the first application. My feet also seem to be a lot drier and rarely sweat now that I used this product. It's $110 and you'll never have to worry about smelly shoes again. I wish, really wish I would have found out this product existed a decade ago. I feel bad I even waited the 3 weeks to buy it, contemplating if it was worth it. It's worth every penny.
The auto shutoff is great, you don't have to babysit it. The cheaper one on here does not have the auto shutoff.
Some of the tricks I used to do to my shoes were to leave them outside in the sun during the hot summer. This worked really well granted I didn't forget about them once night or rain came.
Another trick was to wrap the shoes in a plastic bag and stick them in the freezer overnight.
Both tricks will kill the bacteria but the smell would always come back after 3-4 days at work. This light has already given me 5 days of wear without a trace of smell. Easy, quick, 30 mins and you're good to go.
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my athletic 26-year-old son, who has dyshydrosis (sweaty hands and feet), and whose shoes often are discarded due to smell way before they actually wear out. He's been using a combination of baking soda and other deodorizing powders for years in an effort to deodorize his athletic shoes and prolong their life. After a 2-hour run and informal baseball game with the usual resulting soak of sweat in his shoes, he used this shoe sanitizer. He came back into the room after sanitizing the shoes and asked, "Mom, will you trust me on this, seriously?" and held out his athletic shoe. We were amazed: there was no trace of smell at all!! Granted, this sanitizer has not been used for a long period of time. I'll try to remember to follow up with additional information as this was expensive. But for now, I think if this device prolongs the life of several pairs of mens shoes, the price is well worth it! My daughter, who also has sweaty hands and feet, wants one now!
I visited an inexpensive nail salon and ended up with a nail fungus. I knew better than to visit one of those but, alas, I was being cheap...and ended up paying for it. As part of my war on my nail fungus I purchased this for my shoes. I used it each time I took my shoes off at the end of the day. I started having to wear compression socks, which aren't cotton, and be on my feet for 12 hours. My feet started smelling very badly, and Odor Eaters wasn't even touching it. I assume it's doing it's thing- sterilizing. Occasionally I have to tighten the bulb (even though the bulb feels tight) after a couple of uses to stop it from giving me an error (blinking light) and then it works- so that's a minor issue. Works on most shoes because of the straps included (simple Velcro straps- which did pull apart at the seams but it was a quick fix with needle and thread). I even used it on flip flops!
I also bought extra bulbs just in case (even though the bulbs are supposed to last about 2 years). Easy to travel with but I would pack in hand luggage because the item does seem fragile and the plastic framing could crack (or bulb shatters) pack in original box if space permits. Packaged well and ships quickly.

I love being able to sanitize my shoes, so when my daughter moved out and took our SteriShoes (which we've had for many years) with her, I just had to buy another pair. It reduces odor in my already stinky shoes, but doesn't completely eliminate the odor and it only lasts one or two wearing before I have to repeat the process. It does work better than sprays and I am hoping that it will keep the smell out of my new shoes.
I was losing a battle with feet problems. they were spreading to other parts of the feet. This product stopped the problem immediately. I did all of my shoes. my work shoes I did daily. Now I try to do once a week. I cant believe how fast it helped
The sanitizer works exactly as marketed; which is to say, wonderfully. The stink from my work boots, worn up to 17 hours at a time, is gone. I initially sanitized the boots a few times when I first got the product. Since then I've been using it sparingly, every two weeks(80+ hours). Even after two weeks, there isn't really any major funk prior to sanitizing.
No nastiness from powders or sprays, and can be used on all your shoes.
4 stars given because build quality could be better. I handle it carefully and see it lasting a long time under normal use, but I don't know how it would hold up to an accident. This doesn't change the fact that it does the job.
