Best bug repellent hands down! My sons pediatrian is who recommended this product I tried it all. I just thought he was like me a mosquito and find me a mile away. I purchased it right before hurricane Harvey. When I was outside doing clean up I had about 10 mosquitos on me....put this product on...I couldn't believe it. This really does work and last several hours. Try it you will not be disappointed!
This is the best big spray ever! It last the whole day. While it does have a scent, it's not over-powering like sprays are and it doesn't leave your skin sticky feeling. I've previously only used the spray, which also worked well, but I hate the way it feels on your hands and skin, and if you spray your clothes and touch them it's all over your hands again. With this lotion, I do wash my hands after application, but after that, it's not greasy or sticky on your hands. We shoot archery in the woods, and in very wet areas here in the muggy Northeast. We are usually in the woods for more than 4 hours. This lotion keeps the bugs away from landing on you and keeps most from flying near you. I really appreciate the tick protection and we have not found a tick on us since using these products. We have high tick population and high rate of lyme disease in our area. I do not go into the woods or fields without this companies products on me. We treat our clothing with the permethrin and use the picardin on our skin and around clothing openings. If it's a quick walk, I use the spray, for longer times, I reach for this lotion.
We have used this for several years after testing many products. My wife has horrible reactions to simple mosquito bites; swelling and itchy welts. She has the same reaction as I would have to a bee sting or something worse. She also, of course, hates how deet repellents smell, this one was the least offensive smelling. Since DEET is the only thing that actually works, this was the best solution. It is time released, so it lasts for a very long time. The time release properties also are supposed to reduce the amount that your body absorbs. Although I can't tell you with any scientific certainty that my family and I have absorbed less DEET, I can attest to this product lasting longer than others we have used and it would follow that since we don't need to re-apply as often, we are exposing ourselves to less DEET. We tried the Marathon product from 3M as well, it seems to work pretty well too, but is much stinkier. So, my wife will actually use this compared to the Marathon which she can't stand the smell of.
Bought this product to use on the kiddos during our recent deep woods camping trip. The lotion is a little watery and it's hard to gauge how much you need but worked great for getting the product on the little ones. I found that the lotion worked better than the 40% spray I brought for the adults, so I ended up using this as well. The wife didn't like getting it on her hands so she used the spray more often. I just wiped the extra on my clothes, or rinsed my hands. I'll be buying this for our family from now on.
Very little scent and I think it works very well to keep bugs from biting. However, the lotion is a weird consistency. I'm not sure if I got an old bottle or perhaps it reacted to the heat in shipping, but it separated into a very thick clear gel (like petroleum jelly) and a very thin white liquid. Once I opened it up and stirred it with a q-tip, it got a little better but still separates easily and makes me worry that the bottle will leak if I pack it for travel. But at home, works very well with mosquitos and is not unpleasant to apply, like a lot of sprays.

I went to the Dominican Republic with my family and friends for two weeks and, as you may know, a mosquito disease called Chikungunya is affecting a lot of islands badly; I was very concerned and purchased 5 different repellents with the hope to avoid mosquito bites, especially for my daughter; the first few hours I used a natural insect repellent and my daughter got a bite! and then changed the repellent to this Sawyer Controlled Deet Lotion and: WORKED!!! as the deet is encapsulated, it did not harm me or my family...it leaves your skin glowing; please, apply a lot of this in your feet, neck, arms, under the ears, etc; My daughter never received a bite in the entire trip! I can't thank Sawyer enough for this wonderful repellent!!!! now I can travel with the peace of mind that my family will be protected! my other sister also purchased this and they did not get any bites too; I highly reccommend this product and this will be my number one item to bring in my next trips!
I am a mosquito magnet and I live in south Florida, on a canal. I can’t go outside for 2 minutes without getting sucked dry! This lotion is the only product that leaves me with ZERO bites after a full day working in the yard by the water. It was amazing. the first day I tried it and I got no bites and there were many mosquitoes out that day. My daughter used spray and she got bit as she worked outside with me. This is now a must for me to pack for travel instead of spray cans and to use in the yard all summer. This can also be layered with their sunroof lotion according to the website.
Many summers I have continually looked for help from bites! I came across this and decided to try since we wanted a non-smelling lotion, sprays are just so heavy.
I am happy to report that I have used this numerous times without a bite! I do sweat this off but I compare that to just like sunscreen. Reapply as needed. It is light and there is no odor. Will keep buying this for our summers to come.
I am one of those people who really attract mosquitoes and other flying and crawling pests. If there is one in the area and a crowd of people, I get the bite. Unfortunately, aside from the common dangers, I am becoming more and more sensitive to those bites and a complete protection became a must.

One application lasted until shower, but I also reapplied after wading and getting really wet when kayaking, just to be on the safe side.
