The wife ordered these for my son after he had his tubes put in his ears...(if you are reading this because your child has recently had tubed put in their ears as well......CONGRATS!!! Your child is healthy again!!!) Our son said that he loves the way they conform the the inside of his ears without them being too intrusive. He also said that they are fun colors and enjoys being able to tune out mommy and daddy and just slip into his own world.....JUST KIDDING, OUR KID CANT TALK YET! (but I'm sure he was thinking all those things) I will say these are great at keeping out the water, when the kid DOESN'T PULL THEM OUT,(sorry, got frustrated)......dear sweet Jesus, he is going to be the death of me......

PROS
-Easily moldable to childs ears
-They stay in tight and keep water out
-they are the color of AMERICA and FREEDOM

CONS
-MY KID

THE END

There are many reviews on here that state that this product has stuck to the reviewers ears or have gotten stuck INSIDE of their ear canal. This would not have happened if they would have read the instructions of how to use them. It's easy to assume that you push these in you ear to act like a 'plug'. And truthfully, if they weren't made to look like a plug, it might alleviate some of the confusion.
But if you take the extra step to read the instructions (especially if you bought them for your child), you'd not use these incorrectly.
I actually threw away the package, but the instructions are right on the pkg for all to read. The instructions listed on Amazon are very similar if not exact:
Flatten plugs with fingers & shape to cover outer ear until snugly fit. DO NOT tear plugs at any time. Use entire plug for each ear. DO NOT FORCE INTO EAR CANAL.
If you follow these instructions, you will not have the issues that others are complaining about.
These earplugs work perfectly and are able to be reused multiple times as long as there's no weird residue around your ear that would affect how well they adhere.

I love this stuff! I don't swim, but use them every night for sleeping in noisy NYC.
I've been using the standard soft foam earplugs for a couple of years. They work, but I never liked the way they poked inside my ear canal. Too deep, and they were painful (especially since I sleep on my side, and the pressure presses them in more), too shallow and they don't work so well. Also, my ear canal is always itchy when I take them out...many times I had to take them out to scratch and put them back. I worried about pushing earwax into my ear with them, and sometimes there'd be a pop sound when I removed them that made me worry about my eardrums. All for the sake of a good nights sleep.

Putty Buddies are amazing! They stay outside my ear canal, and I think they actually block the sound more. There's no pressure when I'm sleeping on my side. It's almost like thy aren't there. These have none of the problems of the foam ones. I can't imagine any earplug could work better.
They are a bit weird the first time you take them out (my bf said it looked gross), with the stickiness, but after 1-2 uses, I got the hang of them.
Also, it takes a couple of tries to get the amount right. The first time, I just split one in half...way too big. I'd say I use a little less than 2/3 of one for both ears. Everybody's ears are different, though.
I am 100% satisfied. So happy to be rid of those foam ear spikes forever.

I'm an adult (38) with eustachian tube dysfunction and I get a new set of pressure tubes every several years when they work themselves out. Sometimes going under water is no problem at all, but other times water just goes straight into my middle ear. Gave these a whirl just this past week (Feb 2018) on a couple of snorkeling trips. No problems! I wore them in the shower first a couple of times to test it out. You have to very, very slowly press the gobs into your ears, of course not jamming them in too far or hard. You can also wear a headband to keep pressure against your ears to keep them in place. I was in the water for a couple of hours total across several jumps into the sea (Caribbean salt water) and no issues. Definitely worth the very small investment.

My 3 year old son started swim lessons for the first time and hated laying on his back in the pool. A friend suggested trying ear plugs because some kids don't like the way water feels in their ears. I ordered these after looking everywhere and reading the reviews. So far these have worked awesome! They are very easy to use. You simply squish around the ear plug in your fingers until it is soft and easily pliable and then you roll it into a ball and basically smoosh it into the ear. As you smoosh it it will end up covering the inner part of the ear making it a water proof seal. To get them out you simply pull up on the ear slightly and pull out. It comes out in one piece and you can store them in the container it comes with. We have used the same ones for about 8 swim sessions now and they still work perfect. My son has no problem laying on his back and swimming now. I would recommend these to anyone looking for ear plugs for the water.

Plugs should be applied by an adult, never a child. Flatten plugs with fingers & shape to cover outer ear until snugly fit. DO NOT tear plugs at any time. Use entire plug for each ear. DO NOT FORCE INTO EAR CANAL. Remove plugs by pressing up under the backside of the ear and pulling down on the ear lobe. Alternating these techniques several times will release the plug over the ear canal for easy removal. Plugs may be used for up to 2 weeks with proper handling. Discard & do not use if plugs become dirty, lose their tackiness, or begin to crack/crumble. Apply, use, and remove with adult supervision. Ear plugs are for use ONLY in water. If the user is out of the water for more than 5 minutes, please remove ear plugs, store and reapply (or use new pair) when re-entering the water.

My son has had tubes since he was 9 months old. He is now 6 and we have struggled for years to keep water out of his ears. As a swim coach, I have wanted him to learn to swim for so long, but one leak of the plug and he would have an ear infection within hours. The ENT tried to help and suggested other ear plugs including $85 custom molded/fitted ear plugs that still weren't successful. On a whim, I bought this ear plugs. FINALLY my son can swim without getting water in his ear. You can reuse them but I suggest not more than 3 or 4 times if your goal is to keep the ear completely dry. I find that the product isn't quite as tacky over time and that is what keeps the seal so great. Make sure the ear is dry when you get it in place! Do not stick the putty down the canal. Good luck! I hope you have as much success as I have!

My son has had ear issues for years, and gets ear infections too often. I hate the pain he is in, and I don't like loading my kids up with antibiotics, so I started taking some preventative measures to avoid them. I started looking at ear plugs, and when I found these, I was excited to see they were reusable. Because it came with three pairs, we leave one set at my parents' pool, one set in our bathroom for showers, and I keep one in my purse for when we are out.
We did purchase the Ear Band-it to go along with these, and he did use it for a while, however I found that using both together means he can't hear anything. Because of this, we've restricted wearing the plugs and Band-it at places like the beach where he could quickly get too far away and not hear us calling him if we needed, however I am less worried about the salt water causing him problems. Also, in the pool, my son normally wears a face mask because he loves to see underwater clearly, and we found that the band of the mask folds his ear enough that we don't have to worry about the plugs falling out.
They are easy enough for a 6 year old to put in by himself, and he says they are comfortable and don't bother his ears, so he doesn't put up a fight to wear them. Of course, it's a small price to pay to avoid an ear infection.

AWESOME EAR PLUGS!! My 3 year old had recurrent ear infections and also surgery for ear tubes. I had purchased what I thought were putty like ear plugs, but they would never stay in!! These are great. For my 3 year old I take 1 ear plug break it in half, roll into a cone shape and firmly press into ear. I cannot recommend these enough! I myself am a healthcare professional; these are the real deal. If you are searching for ear plugs for kids-these are the best!!

My 3 yr old son was diagnosed with a perforated eardrum a couple days before we left for a beach vacation. As in, we had rented a place on a beach and there's nothing to do apart from the beach. So the dr telling him he had to stay out of the water was nearly a death sentence to us all.
Thank goodness we found this product! Our vacation and our sanity has been rescued. He is still not allowed to have his head in - just to be safe - but at least we feel comfortable that if the occasional splash hits his head, it's not going in his ear canal.
Do read the instructions- people leaving negative reviews about it getting stuck in ear canal obviously did NOT. This product goes on outside of the ear and NOT in the ear canal.

My eardrum ruptured during a really bad cold and I could not get my ear wet. These were just what I needed to be able to take a shower while my eardrum healed. They are easy to use, reusable, and definitely water proof! Also, Amazon was the only place where I could find these so don't bother driving out to the store to look for these while sick -- just pay for next-day shipping from Amazon (it's worth it!).
