This is more of a pill grinder than a crusher, but, you end up with a satisfyingly fine powder.
One problem with this unit is the top cap (right under the handle) was really tight when I first bought it and it was a real pain to remove it. After a few tries, it loosened up enough.
Separating the top half from the bottom section which catches the crushed pills was really easy.
Making adjustments of the fineness of the grin was also really easy.
The diameter of the unit fit my hand perfectly so I was able to get a good grip on the body while turning the hand crank. The crank was really easy to turn
Wonderful! I have been searching everywhere for this pill grinder. I have one of those small pill crushers which crushes 1-2 pills at a time, gets all gunked up with residue, and the powder flies up into the user's face. I couldn't work it. I have arthritis in lots of places, but the main two issues with the pill crusher was the arthritis in my hands and shoulders. My husband or son had to crush my pile of pills for me.
I just got this last night and I LOVE it. I was able to grind my pills myself, just dumped them all in and turned the crank. I did find out that my joint health pills were too giant and need to be split, but I was thrilled with the results. The crusher left large chunks, but with this grinder, I got powder, which mixed in perfectly with my sugar free Metamucil (which I take for another condition). I can't swallow pills of any size for a number of reasons. This has just made my life much simpler. THANK YOU!!
We have only had this a few days but it crushes the pills so much better than any pill crusher we've had. Our daughter has a feeding tube and needs the powder to be fine so it doesn't get clogged in her tube. This does the job perfectly! She gets up to 13 pills all at once, three times per day. Her old pill crushers would require that we crush half at a time but this thing does them all with ease!! The compartment for the powder is large and, so far, doesn't have any build up. I don't love the lid to the top compartment where you drop the pills but that is really my only complaint. It is difficult for me to get on and off, although my husband doesn't seem to have a problem with it so it might just be the tendonitis in my hand. It is still easier to get that lid off and on than it was to spin the old crushers trying to pulverize the pills. Definitely recommend this to anyone with tendonitis/arthritis that finds it hard to crush pills!
My mother, who has dementia, started refusing to take her pills. I used a plastic "screw in" pill crusher that I bought at a local pharmacy, but it really hurt my hands and did not crush the pills "well". The Pill Mill is very easy on your hands, and grinds the pills to a fine powder. It's just great! I suspect the stainless steel will last forever (at least long enough for us). It's easy to clean and you can adjust it for courseness. But I'm not sure why anyone needing to crush pills would not want a fine powder for the final product! I would highly recommend, especially for people who have hand problems.
If you need to crush pills for yourself or a patient, you should have this. The mortar and pestle or the pill crushers which must be twisted can wear out your arm and elbow. This is a whole different approach and is very ergonomic and effective. It is well-worth the investment.
One suggestion: the design requires that the handle must be removed in order to remove the lid to insert the pills. I found this to be tiresome. But my mother-in-law's caregiver discovered that it works fine without the lid. This had not occurred to me. It saves a few seconds with each set of pills. So I'm passing along the tip to you.
Another thing - read the instructions. Apparently the manufacturer tells you what to do if a pill gets stuck in the mill. (Reverse the direction of the crank..) I also learned this from mom's caregiver. (I'm not good at reading directions.)

I think this is a great tool from pulverizing pills. It turns them into power that easy to mix with water or other foods. I bought it for my pet who refuses to swallow pills or eat them in other foods. I just grind the pills up, mix with water, and use the plastic part of a hypodermic needle the vet gave us to shoot the liquid into his mouth which he swallows easily.
I wouldn't want to mix pill types without washing the insides of the grinder first. Also, taking the lid off the unit to put the pills in is really difficult on mine. It is a pressure fit lid and, at times, doesn't want to come off. I wish they had made this a screw-on lid. If they did that, I would rate them a 5 star.
Update: I upgraded my rating to 5 stars because I have been using this pill crusher for almost two months and it works perfectly every time. I love it. It is so nice to buy something that works as advertised. Also, the lid comes off and goes on quite easily now.
Bought for my mother who has a feeding tube. Very easy to grind different size pills together. We just break the larger ones into 2 pieces or use a pill cutter to cut in 2 pieces, but still so much easier on the hands and wrist than the pill crusher we were using without a handle. Takes the hard coating off pills easily. I found the instructions to be adequate. Just received in Dec '17 so haven't cleaned yet. All the powder from the pills falls right out of the container. Sometimes have to turn the grinder part upside down to get any residue out of it. Overall we are very pleased with it.

I have dogs that need allergy medication and it’s much easier to grind it down to a powder than giving them the pills. You can regulate how fine you want the grind to be with a screw and It’s easy to disassemble and clean afterwards, you can open it up and wash it with water.

Not much to dislike, it’s a simple product and it seems well made.
I found this to be a well designed little unit. It comes apart and fits together easily and doesn't take much strength to grind even the big pills we have to administer to our cat - we'll throw about 20 of her big pills in there and grind away and it still works, though it takes more elbow grease. It's easy to clean and fits easily into the hand. The lever is long enough to turn the gears even with large pills. When taking off the top to access the crushed pills, the chamber is deep enough so that the pill dust doesn't come flying out - the key is to twist and move upward, not just yank on it.
I would give this a 5 star review save that I feel the lever could be a more stoutly made - the metal has some 'give' with grinding a lot of big pills. Also a traditionally formed 'smooth' knob would fit into the hand more easily and allow better action - the little knob on there now feels flimsy and is hard to keep hold of.
Beyond these suggestions for the lever, I would recommend this unit.
