Seal Tight Original Cast and Bandage Protector, Best Watertight Protection, Adult Short Leg

Let’s be serious. If you’re in the market for one of these, you’re not exactly having the best day/week/year. Either you’re ordering on an emergency basis due to an unexpected injury, or you planned to sign up for your temporary gimp situation. In any event, the only thing worse than being in a position where you’re forced to wear one of these would be wearing one of these that didn’t work. To further manage your expectations, there is no easy way to enjoy a shower or bath when you’re sporting this along with your newfound disability. So just be prepared for bathing to become an evil necessity. Beyond that, this cast protector has delivered as expected. You might notice a little condensation forming in the bag but bandages have remained fully dry in both shower and bath. I recommend pulling above the knee versus below if it all possible to avoid any potential gaps. Good luck, and this too shall pass. :)

So I broke down and bought this because last time I had a cast I sucked it up and used plastic trash bags and I am glad I did. I am 5 ft tall and bag was able to fit over my cast which was under knee and did not leak at all in shower. I have used with the cast and had no leaks. the hole is pretty tight (probably so it won't leak, duh) and so it was a little challenging getting it on (my size 5 wmns foot) and actually very easy to take off.

The bag itself is pretty thick and I durable. I have not yet tried to get it on my boot post surgery but i will try for review purposes and maybe see if my bare foot can get in and submerge. (thats future because I'm only week post surgery) I would like to think I if you had help with rubber you can get it over sutures and be fine.

The product is a good price and works. If you are sore or tender it probably won't work for you because it is tight and will probably hurt going on.

I used this product to keep my fiberglass cast dry after Achilles surgery. I had a cast that came up to just below my knee and this size worked well even for long legs - cast came up 23 inches from the bottom. A trick to putting it on is to put a kitchen sized trash bag over your cast first, and then the Seal Tight protector slides right up the case with no binding or damage to the seal. Just tuck all of the trach bag below the seal and inside the protector. To remove, reverse the procedure by pulling the top of the trash bag back up thru the top seal and it slides right off. I used the Seal Tight protector for over 6 1/2 weeks with no problems, leaks, or issues getting it on or off. Glad someone told me the trash bag trick to get it on and off.

This product worked quite well for me. Unlike the reviews I read. It is rather tight the first couple of times to make the elastic cover fit and slide into your cast. I used it with a bulky plaster cast and its width and length fit quite good. I'd put it over the knee and no water ever went through, it's tight and leaves a red mark/circle, but nothing too dramatic. Its bearable people. Lastly, I used around 1-2 weeks after surgery and had to be slow and careful when sliding it on, since any jerked movement upset my leg easily. Other than that. Great product. I used it for 2 months and worked awesomely. No need to had purchased a replacement

This product is a true "game-changer" in terms of its ability to perform EXACTLY as advertised in keeping a foot bandage/cast dry and, more importantly, allowing you to easily shower without adding more than about 30-60 seconds to your normal routine. I am so impressed with it that I will take a bit of time to write a more thorough review.

When I found out that I needed to have some foot surgery that would require me to keep the bandage dry for three weeks after surgery, I asked the office staff at my doctor's office if they could recommend a product to help me do this without a lot of effort. They were less than useless, only offering the typical "garbage bag and duct tape" solution. I assumed that there must be a better way, so I did a quick Google search on something like "keep foot bandage dry when showering." I got plenty of results, one of which took me to Amazon (of course!) and this product.

I read through the reviews, and since so many were positive, I ordered the Seal-Tight protector. For the life of me I can't understand how anyone could have any problem whatsoever with this product. It works PERFECTLY, and easily. Just follow the simple directions, the most important of which is to pull the protector all the way up your leg, and then pull it back down your leg an inch or so to cause the sealing flap to flip the other way and lay against your leg in a downward direction, to more easily shed water. Don't think too hard about this -- as soon as you try it once it will be obvious what to do. The seal is made of a high-quality rubber, kind of like what you would find on an underwater diving mask. It easily stretches over your leg/bandage/cast, yet seals TIGHTLY around your leg at the calf.

I put a rubber bath mat in my shower to give me a soft surface to stand on (and, perhaps, be less slippery), so as to protect the Seal-Tight from possibly being punctured (it is guaranteed to last as long as a typical cast). I will admit that I also took one other precaution the first time that I used the Seal-Tight. Since my leg is hairy, I was concerned that it might not seal as tightly as it would without hair. Consequently, I wrapped the top of my calf with an Ace bandage before I put on the Seal-Tight, just in case some water leaked through, so that any water would be absorbed into the Ace bandage and not get down to my foot bandage. After my first shower I found out that this precaution was a complete waste of time -- my leg, despite the hair, was bone dry, so I never did the Ace bandage wrap again, and I NEVER had a drop of water inside the Seal-Tight in three weeks of showing.

Finally, a slightly humorous anecdote. I like to take a long, hot shower, but this had to change while using the Seal-Tight. This is not because of any concern about leaks, but instead because my leg began to sweat due to being inside a sealed plastic bag inside a hot environment! So, I limited myself to a shorter shower until the bandage was removed and I could shower without the Seal-Tight!!!

Seriously, this is an excellent product that allows you to maintain a normal personal hygiene regimen, with very little effort or additional time (30 seconds to put it on, and another 30 seconds to dry it off and remove it). I would give it 10 stars if that was possible.

Sometimes being clean is what you need to feel human again! This gives you security in knowing that you can take a complete shower or bath without getting your cast or bandages wet. The rubber seal is ingenious! I wear a size 10 pant and have slender legs. I can pull this up above my knee and my leg stays perfectly dry. It might be tight though if you have larger legs. You'd have to keep it at your calf I imagine.

The only thing the rubber that seals it around the leg was way to tight. After struggling to get it over a surgical incision on a foot for a week, I finally decided to trim it with scissors to fit. That worked much better. Also I put a plastic grocery bag over the foot and then it slid on much easier. Directions for this would have been nice.

Greatest invention in the world for taking a shower with a cast on. Stop fumbling w/ grocery store/garbage bags to save a few bucks. Just buy this thing and take a problem-free shower.

It goes on easily -- glides right on up the cast once you get the hang of the super tight, inner seal. It's not too tight on the average size leg, but might be if you are heavier set or have large legs. It DOES need to fit snugly so no water gets in so pull it right over the cast and onto your leg.

Someone in your extended family will undoubtedly need this item, and it's small enough to store in the flat box -- loan it out.

I cannot see how this would ever leak unless you took scissors to it or punctured it in some way. Hang to dry before storing and it won't crack or become brittle while waiting for someone else to need it.

Other than one early mistake where I pushed it down my leg during the shower, managed to get the plastic to come up through the rubber gasket, and created an opening through which water was able to enter, it's been great. A bit tricky to put on my injured foot without pain because the rubber stretches tightly but that's the key to keeping a good seal, so worth the tradeoff.

Well...saved my hygiene reputation. I write this on March 9 after not having a shower since December 16. I had surgery on 12/17 followed by four days in the hospital and FIFTY days on complete bedrest. My wound won't heal. I had the occasional "spit and polish," but no full body wash. I had been washing my hair in the sink. I have a soft cast, knee to toes--covered by an Ace bandage. Nothing worked to keep this thing dry (plastic wrap, garbage bags, etc.) Out of desperation I tordered this "protector" and didn't have a lot of hope.

This protector PROTECTS!! I'm 72 and wobbly but I was able to pull it on and off by myself. The seal is TIGHT just under the knee, so it's not a walk (haha) in the park. My cast/bandage are dry-dry-dry. I'm writing this enthusiastically after my first use (my hair is still wet!). I felt safe standing in the shower (but remained cautious). This seal-tight cast protector is a wonderful gift! If my opinion changes, I'll report it.

I see my surgeon every Tuesday and plan to take the packaging and protector with me. Why didn't HE suggest/prescribe something like this?
