I thought my glass top stove was ruined but thanks to this combo I saved it! I'm Cajun and I overflowed 2 pots of beginning boiling gumbo roux on it. That is straight GREASE. It bunt on and dried immediately. I cursed and panicked, as the entire stove was gunked over. I wiped the excess, used a bit of Dawn and there was a good bit of caked on gunk remaining. I used the scrubber, then Cerama Bryte product. Finally, the scraper completely removed what seemed impossible to get off! Stove looks like new! I also used the the scraper to remove excess caulk from granite. ;) Pic is after the cleanup of stovetop.
I have a lot of cooked on grime on top of my stove due to 2 pre-teens learning to cook and regularly boiling over random pots or splashing things on the stove. The rings around the burners had gotten build up from the over-spills so I thought I would try this. While it works fairly well, it's not sturdy enough for the really caked on grime as the razor constantly wants to slide back in. The way to open it is also the same way to close it, so pushing a certain way just shoves the razor back into it's case.
This product worked very well. My stove top was in an embarrassing state, full of grease and hard, burnt stuff. After ~ 30 min of work, it looked fantastic, like I had never mistreated it. Only thing was... the instructions said to use it on completely cooled surfaces. That did not work so well for me. I turned on the stove for a little bit. Let it cool such that it's still very slightly warm before trying again. And that made things really easy.
I bought this as a replacement for the one I had to throw away. I used the last one about every month to clean my glasstop stove until it had gotten rusty and had to be thrown out for fear of tetanus. The blade cleans great and the handle helps to ensure a nice grip without straining your fingertips. The only flaw in the design and reason it isn't four stars is that the design, while improving safety by sliding the sheath forward, also conveniently traps water and debris causing the blade to rust. I'd still buy another one as they are not very expensive and work great.
I just received this glass cooktop scraper and like the design. It has a sliding panel that extends beyond the blade for safety and to protect it. It is attached and easily slides back and forth to protect or expose the blade for use. So far, I've had no burned-on residue on my new cooktop requiring use of a scraper, but it's only a matter of time. (Sugary or tomato spatters must be scraped off while the cooktop is still hot or the glass may pit, according to cooktop manuals.) This scraper comes with clear directions for using it on a glass cooktop, and also includes one scrubber pad for use with cooktop cleaner for routine cleaning. I suppose any similar razor blade scraper would work, but this is a nifty design and not expensive. The only possible negative I see so far is that I don't see a way to replace the razor blade, but it should last a long time so I'm OK with that.

I forget the kitchen towel on the stove top and I again forget the stove was on. I really don't know how that happened (I am blaming my 4-months- old baby) lol. So the house didn't catch fire, we all safe but the towel melted and became a part of our glass/ceramic stove top. It smelled awful and looked awful. I seriously thought we need a new stove. I have had occasion to use this product just once. I was very careful with the "scraper" because it has a razor blade on board, so scraping my new cooktop was scary. However the pad was very useful removing slightly burned on food liquids. I used it in conjunction with the Cerama Bryte liquid polish for cooktop surfaces. It did a terrific job restoring my surface to it's original shine.
My wife burned sugar on to the stove, which became a crystallized and impossible to clean mess. This little scraper took it all off in under a minute. It does not scratch the glass top. Our stove looks like new again.
At first I was nervous about putting a blade against my ceramic counter top but this thing works as advertised. With the scraper I was able to remove build-up that had accumulated over months. The pad I found less useful after initial use but it is a bonus including it in the package.
We finally got a smooth surface glass cooktop to replace a very dated, very baked-on, grungy cooktop. We love it, but had a panic attack the first time stuff got all over. I will admit I was VERY hesitant to use a scraper on the gorgeous smooth glass.... but it works! I still don't like to be the scraper for fear of damage, so this is one chore I let my husband handle exclusively... and oddly he didn't mind - probably because it's quick and I give him all the credit!
