I bought this to dry brush once a week and it works great for that. I dry brush while a bath with 2 cups of epson salt and 1 cup of baking soda is filling. (A few drops of lavender EO is in my baths too) Using the bath and the dry brush is a great way to detox once a week. Make sure you drink a lot of water (full 8-16 oz) afterwards and stay hydrated the next day. This process will flush a lot of toxins right out of you. Baths with these things in then should be done in the evening as you’ll definitely be ready for a good sleep afterwards. Enjoy!
This brush is well made and the bristles are perfect, meaning they aren't as hard as nails nor are they too soft.
I did knock a star off because, like others here, I wish they would have secured a cloth handle to the brush so when you aren't using the long handle (which in my case is 90% of the time), you could just slip your hand between the cloth handle and brush and do your thing.
Minor complaint though and I would still recommend this product, which is very good, especially given the price.
I researched lots of dry brushes and in the end just had to choose. I went with this one because it is vegan and had a handle (which was essential for dry brushing during pregnancy when I was unable to reach my toes otherwise). It's not lost any bristles and has a nice firmness. I was worried about a brush being too stiff but this is perfect and I can adjust the stiffness somewhat by how much pressure I apply. I never experienced redness or irritation using this brush. The handle stays secure easily.
The bristles are VERY rough. I would suggest this more for a male that wants to start dry brushing since men tend to have thicker and rougher skin. I had to use very light pressure when I started using it. I felt like the bristles softened after some use though. I don't want to give it a bad rating because it really is a good product, I was just new to dry brushing and didn't realize how rough the bristles should be before I bought a brush. Also another pro was that the handle stayed on very nicely while in use, the head didn't slip off which was great.
I actually didn't understand that it is intended as a dry brush. I'm using it as a wet brush in the shower and liking it that way. Like most new brushes it's a bit stiffer than I like, but it will ease over time.
It has a handle that needs to be pushed onto the brush head and it took me a couple of times to get it in firmly enough... now everything seems fine.
I like it.

Description
The Yerba Prima Tampico Skin Brush is a wonderful, revitalizing health and beauty aid. Removing the top layer of dead skin and stimulating the circulation of blood feeding the skin are essential for maintaining youthful, glowing and supple skin. Skin Brushing has been used throughout the world for centuries, and is making its way back into popularity. Dry skin brushing is one of the best ways to cleanse the skin without removing the protective mantle of acid and oils. It gently and effectively removes the top layer of dead skin cells with its build-up of dirt and acid, and deeply cleanses the pores.
I have tried so many body brushes - even the most expensive, yet I always come back to the Yerba Prima. It is the only one that gets the job done with intense body brushing. This brush is also so much more expensive at Whole Foods. Here it is such a great price and it totally makes a great gift! I bought one for a dear friend who was complaining about cellulite on her legs. She raved about the difference it made in her skin tone. Plus, it makes your skin super soft.
PROS
==========================
1. Rougher/stiffer than most of the other brushes I tried. I wanted something that wouldn't be mushy when I put soap on it, but would remain bristly when I scrubbed. This one did.
2. Detaches from handle for hand usage.
3. Nice handle with strap.
CONS
==========================
1. Detaches from handle for hand usage. I only wanted to use this for my back so I bought waterproof wood glue and permanently glued the handle to the brush head.
2. Because the handle is so long, it doesn't sit on any of the shelves in the shower. I fixed this by buying at Walmart a waterproof stickon hanger hook. I placed the hook out of the way where it doesn't get hit with water, but close enough to grab it.
ONE LAST THING:
==========================
I looked around all the local merchants and they all carried softer brushes. The more I use this one the more I really love it so I am buying a second one. This one I will put in my sauna. I read that if you "scruf" you skin before you go in the sauna it will accelerate the removal of old dead skin. They do this same process in the high priced salons.
I just love this brush. I was interested in dry brushing but other dry brushes hurt my skin to use and left me avoiding the task altogether. This brush, while firm, is soft enough that my skin can get used to it after a few tries. This handy brush has cleared up any little bumps on my skin and leaves me feeling better overall. Please note that you may get some in-grown hairs or bumps when doing any dry-brushing at first but after a little while, this stops.
i know i am supposed to brush my skin, it just took me a while to get around to it. i bought this brush and now really enjoy using it. its a little strange at first, brushing skin, especially since its not anything i grew up doing or knowing about, but it has really helped me relax and i hope to experience more benefits as i continue using this brush. it helps to have the long handle, the removable head and the strap on the back of the bristle head. its a nice brush and i think its well worth the investment considering the potential and likely results of regular brushing!
The Yerba Prima Tampico Skin Brush is just as described by both the seller and prior reviewers. This was my first time purchasing and using a dry body brush. I had done some prior research and had been given advice as what to look for. This Yerba brush met and exceeded all of my needs; natural bristals, removable back brush stick, right size, shape, and price. I've had zero problems and would highly recommend.
