At age 60 I've gone through many pairs of readers. My husband loves buying them at the Dollar Store and those have been torture to wear, not to mention that you look like you're wearing glasses from the Dollar Store! Recently I bought a pair from a site called "readers" bot.tom :) - online that cost 15$. They lasted about 3 weeks and fell apart, not to mention that they were so heavy and uncomfortable on the bridge of my nose that I could hardly stand to wear them. (they slid down...) No thanks. I don't need to spend 15$ on a pair of readers.....

I continue to order these readers not because they fall apart,....but because I lose them or leave them behind somewhere eventually :) I have probably placed 6 or 7 orders for the same glasses. Not one pair has fallen apart.
When I finally reached the point of needing reading glasses, I also knew I needed a strategy for buying them. I had none of the habits that people who have worn glasses for years have regarding keeping track of them at all times, like the extension of one's body they actually are. I expected that I would probably lose, accidentally destroy, and just forget to have them at hand when they are needed. So it seemed like, at least initially, getting multiple pair at a low price was the way to get started.
I bought my first order of these about eight months ago. Since then I've lost one pair and damaged though not completely destroyed another by sitting on it while it was unfolded. The value equation is everything I had hoped for in choosing this product. In addition to being inexpensive, they are reasonably comfortable, and I'm not embarrassed to be seen wearing them.
A friend of mine who has been wearing glasses much longer than me commented on the fact that at first he too went for inexpensive plastic glasses, and then proceeded to show me his $300 German metal specs with glass lenses. His strategy, he says, is to avoid plastic lenses because it's harder to keep them un-smudged and un-scratched, and that aside from those advantages spending up for that quality provides sufficient motivation to keep him from losing or destroying them. I've heard this strategy before applied to writing pens, but I think that only works for people who care enough about owning objects that amount to a form of jewelry, i.e. which serve primarily as status signaling about their wealth. I don't care enough about that sort of thing for it to keep me mindful. I would just be having expensive accidents and episodes of forgetfulness -- like when I lose a cell phone or crack it's screen by dropping it on a tile or concrete floor.
Plastic lenses are, in fact, hard to keep un-smudged, though I can't say from my own experience if glass would be any easier. What I have found that works is to use the sort of micro fiber 'cloth' that is made from recycled plastic and usually sold for durable use on big clean-up jobs rather than the very fine ones promoted for lens cleaning. So far I've had no problems with the lenses being scratched, and at $300 vs $6, I'd rather replace the cheap ones as needed if it comes to that. I think of these as consumables, and buying them in multiples makes sense.

I've been looking for a great pair of readers without much success. I have multiple sets lying all over the house but they either don't fit that well or don't hold up. So I went looking for something better then I found these. They had a huge number of great reviews so I thought I'd try them. I've only had them a couple of days but they are well made, fit great, are light weight and are sized so I can easily look over the top to see everything else. I'm going to buy another 3 pack set and start throwing away the other junkers I have lying around.
just what I wanted for work (auto mechanic) 35 plus years . Nice glasses, but the glass scratches so easily, every pair is scratched. It would be great if they incorporated some scratch resistant coating on the glass. I've had plastic prescription glasses hold up for years, and all of these were scratched in a few months.
I'm fairness to this manufacturer, if you take special care to protect the lenses, they should hold up well.

I obviously just received them, but they appear to be built very well, the lens are nice and clear, and I love the fact they all come in their own cloth (cleaning) bag. I really couldn’t be happier.
