The spare cold pack means I can really ice my foot as often as I need to, and the Velcro definitely holds the pack in place, even when I am on my scooter. It could stay cold longer, but I know technically you're only supposed to ice 20 minutes at a time.
The doctor recommended that my husband ice his foot several hours a day for his plantar fasciitis. We had a big bulky ice/heating pad that didn't quite cover the areas of his arch. This one was easy to use and shape to make sure to stayed on and covered the needed area. The pad to cover the pack is thick enough and can be easily washed. I highly recommend these especially since now I am using these for an ankle injury.
This compact wrap comes with two gel packs for freezing or warming that simply slide in a pocket on the strap. I bought it to relieve foot pain from neuropathy and some edema and it helps. Also good for ankle, and I would imagine hands and wrist as well. Price was right too!
I think this product is great. It is durable and you can make it fit well wherever your pain is! Definitely a good buy.

COLD APPLICATION
Cold therapy is recommended for the first 48 hours following the injury.
Store the gel pack in the freezer for at least 2 hours.
HOT APPLICATION
Hot therapy should not be used until 48 hours after the injury.
(1) Hot Water Method: boil water in pot, remove from heat and immerse gel pack for approx 8-10 min; remove, wipe it off, check temperature & use.
(2) Microwave Method: flatten gel pack, heat at full power for 30 seconds, knead and check temperature & if more heat is needed, heat more for 10 seconds at a time. If gel pack is frozen, we recommend to bring it to room temperature first.
