I am on my second one after 15 years. I got in a hurry one day and wondered if microwaving it would be faster than boiling. Nope. Microwaving it will destroy it. Works every hot time if you follow the directions and boil it. So you have to boil it. No prob. I turn the timer on and let it go. Then I use it hot after boiling (with a towel) and when it cools I push the magic button and it is hot again. I love this so much more than any other of the beans in a bag or corn something in a sock.
The Heat Wave neck wrap does what it says it will do- it provides good heat and is good for situations when you need instant heat and don't want to be tied down with a cord. The problem is that EVERY TIME you use it you need to "recharge" it by boiling it. It is large enough that it needs a large pot to fit into and it is not flexible at that point so you can't just force it into just any pot. You have to wrap it in a towel, or put a towel into the pan. Its not a huge deal, but after one use and "recharge" mine has sat in my bathroom closet waiting for the next time that I really need to have the freedom of cordless heat. I'm "saving it" for an occasion that is worth the after care. If what you need is cordless heat (about 30 minutes of really good heat) then this product does what it says. Just be prepared to recharge every time.
I had to boil this down 3 times before it went soft again. Initially, the 1st & 2nd time I just placed it in boiling water for 30 minutes; but the 3rd time I actually stuck it in the boiling water & continued to boil it longer. It stays warm about 45 min & feels great! For me, I think this will be the most useful size & shape since it fits the neck & can be placed across the lower back as well.
It heats up nicely. It would have been helpful if instructions were included rather than the hard to read vague info printed on the item. My husband had to mess with it for a while to figure it out.
I realize these work by a relatively simple chemical reaction, but it still seems like magic. If you need to apply heat quickly, these can't be beat.

They are great...and can last a long time...after boiling it to restart I wrap it in a towel and use it for at least 30 mins before I even need to activate it....
This works just as it should. I took it scuba diving for my son to put in his wetsuit. We cracked it and it headed up right away. It stayed warm for the four hours we went diving plus some. We took it home and re-heated it to start all over. It worked great and kept my son warm in the cold water.
work and as advertised. might want to wrap in thin wash cloth as they do get pretty warm......
These heat packs work very well and more importantly are reusable. We use them primarily for cold weather camping although they are great for sore muscles as well.
Great quality, stays warm a long time and feels very sturdy
