FlexiKold Gel Ice Pack (Half Size: 7.5

Great product gets nice and cool

I order 2 half sizes for both my knees and what i do is i use a knee brace, i also bought on amazon, to strap it down.

The knee brace is:

"Knee Brace Support For Arthritis, ACL, Running, Basketball, Meniscus Tear, Sports, Athletic. Open Patella Protector Wrap, Neoprene, Non-Bulky, Relieves Pain,, Best Braces by Winzone"

Check the pics!

I'm at an age where things start wearing down: joints, cartilage, etc. I used to be really active (dancing professionally, equestrian sports, etc.), and it has definitely taken its toll 40 years later. I've developed osteoarthritis and the most recent victim is my left hip. I'm trying to delay hip replacement surgery as long as possible, so I'm using exercise as well as cold therapy, and that's where this FlexiKold Gel pack comes in. I'm working with a physical therapist, and this was one of the brands she recommended.

I have the "standard" size (10.5" x 14.5"), and it's the perfect size for my needs. It freezes quickly, is flexible, and stays cold longer than any of the other cold packs I've tried. It definitely helps with the inflammation and pain that comes from this condition.

I just ordered a second one in the same size so that I'll have one in the freezer ready to go at all times. For the price, I couldn't ask for a better solution. And I may invest in the half-size one for my shoulder (same condition, similar issues ... ). Very satisfied with this purcahse.

SO MUCH better than the ACE piece of junk! Why? Because this FlexiKold pack has a nylon outer jacket and the edge seams are sewn, not glued or thermally fastened like the ACE large cold compress. I played ice hockey goal for 40+ years and finally had to quit due to all manner of L4/L5/S1 low back, rotator cuff and knee problems. I live on ice packs and NSAID's after golf and the gym. The ACE packs last about 6 months before they pop a seam and the slimy cold pack guts coming slithering out, really greasy yet sticky goo. I've done that 4-5 times now in the past 2-3 years and it was a pain having the ACE packs leak so often and I got weary of stuffing them in a ZipLoc bag to prevent the goo from getting on my hands and clothes.

I noticed that my PT guy uses FlexiKold packs daily at his practice and he told me they last years with 4-5 a day of continuous use in his office. Saw the FlexiKold products on Amazon and I'm sold. If I run into problems down the road, I'll report back but to my eye, the quality of the FlexiKold gel pack is far superior to the ACE products.

There is a photo of my ACE cold pack on top of the new FlexiKold pack. You can see that the edges of the ACE bandage are either glued or thermally sealed and when you put pressure on the pack like using it on your low back, the seam eventually splits open. The FlexiKold pack is in a ripstop nylon pack and the edges are sewn with a cloth edge all the way around. The FlexiKold is a bit more money upfront but if I'm not buying a new one every 6 months, it's actually a lot cheaper.

I bought this while waiting to have neck surgery for pinched nerve. I love almost everything about it. It seems sturdy and well made. It is super cold, and molds nicely to fit where needed. I was hoping it would sit securely around my neck and shoulders without sliding, but it doesn't. I have a heating pad that I don't have to hold because it's a bit longer and has magnets on the two ends that secure it in place when sitting up. A feature like that would make this product even better. However, I tip I found helpful is to put it in a king sized pillow case. Then secure the ends of the pillow case together with a hair clip or rubber band. I liked the feel of this one so much that I also ordered the largest size as well.

I got this for my husband who has had 5 shoulder surgeries for torn rotator cuff and is about to have another. For several years, he has used a baggie full off ice that he puts on a towel and ices his shoulder with every night. He was seriously amazed the 1st time he used this. It is freezing cold and it stays that way for a long time. At 1st, he just put it over his shirt but then he had to put a towel under it also because it is so cold. I got him the large one so he can wrap it around his shoulder and it works perfect for this. It seems to be extremely durable. I couldn't see it ever leaking like his bags of ice would and even just out of the freezer, is flexible also unlike the bag of ice. I paid $16 for this on a lightning deal. My husband says he would have paid double that and wishes I would have found this years ago.

Description

FlexiKold cold packs are not only more flexible than competitors, but they stay colder for a longer period of time too. Why? It's the Gel. Unlike the bentonite ingredient used in competing cold packs, FlexiKold is powered by a proprietary gel interior that remains pliable when frozen. And because the gel stays colder for a longer period of time, less gel is needed. And that allows us to construct a thinner, more user-friendly product. The result is, a colder, thinner, and more flexible cold pack that provides superior contact with the treated area and easily conforms to any part of your body. Constructed of extra-thick flexible nylon material, FlexiKold offers a professionally double sealed gel pack, that prevents leaking, with a smooth high-quality feel.

I love this cold pack. I also have a few packs with the gel peas as well as a larger clay cold pack (not as large as this FlexiKold). There are some situations where the small packs work best, but for my back, hip and leg (I have sciatica), this FlexiKold is the best. It's a lot colder than the clay pack and is larger in size. It's a lot more comfortable too. There are any rough plastic edges like the clay pack. I only wish I could figure out how to lay on my side, place the FlexiKold on my hip, and keep the contents up around my buttocks where I need the cold. That's just an learning curve for me, not an reflection on FlexiKold. I highly recommend this cold pack for anybody who has to use a cold pack frequently. It's well worth the cost!

I ordered these two FlexiKold larger sized Therapy Gel Packs when I recently had a total hip replacement procedure. These are made of quality materials and stay cold literally for hours! The after surgery instructions were to use ice packs on operative area very often. This larger size wraps around my entire thigh, (I am of tiny bone structure), but it does need to be secured in place with a blanket or sheet. Remember to ALWAYS have a thick towel or sweat pants between these ice packs and your skin as they are SUPER cold. NEVER apply ice directly on the skin to prevent ice burn. I purchased two of this larger size because I also had lower leg swelling once I arrived home and began walking more. I had my husband apply one wrap around my thigh area and one on my lower leg when I laid in bed. Again this pack will need to be secured with a blanket or towel. Post hip replacement limits you from bending forward more than a 45 degree angle, thus I needed help to apply these gel packs on my legs.
I would purchase these gel packs again.

Best coldpak I've bought in a long while. Always had those blue ones that the seam leak goop like crazy. This baby is made so well it would take a nail to put a hole in it. Stays cold longer and the outer coating is thick. It's a big one, which I wanted and works great for backs and is bendable for necks. You will not be sorry if you buy this. Wish I had discovered this baby yrs ago.

I had a horrific headache yesterday and used this for the first time. I really like the nylon cover, as it doesn't seem to accumulate iced condensation and bends easier than the vinyl coated packs. The gel inside doesn't seem as thick as that in the Chattanooga brand ice packs, but is plenty thick enough for comfort and weight. The best thing is the pack stayed cold well over one hour. I had to cover it with a shirt I initially before placing it directly on my upper back, neck and head. It truly helped ease my pain. Only time will tell, but the seams are reinforced and the cover seems much higher quality compared to the vinyl covered packs. I was also going to buy the Coldest brand for comparison, but thought this would be sufficient for our needs in addition to what we already have. I can't see anything being better than this ice pack. May get more in in other shapes, if I can find them!

UPDATE MAR. 24, 2018: Using this right now on my face, because of an extracted molar from yesterday. Couldn’t be happier with this brand and construction of materials! The best, for sure——

Had knee replacement two weeks ago and these are a life saver. They suggest you use ach and water frozen in a zip lock bag. Will work but leaks and was driving my wife nuts trying keep me with ice bags. I looked on internet and found theses. Comes in set of 2. They hold cold well and freeze fast. Helps the Wife and I love them for pain. Don't think I could have done as well without these packs.

Like them so much I ordered a second set for a relative who will have knee replacement in the near future. I gift I am sure he also will love.
