I am not using this ice pack for any sort of injury; rather, I’m using it because my apartment is incredibly warm and my air conditioner is noisy and largely ineffective. I freeze it for a while and lay it on my back. Helps me fall asleep much faster. Will update should the ice pack burst, but material seems sturdy!
Update 8/17/18 It’s nearing the end of summer and this ice pack has endured me sleeping on it, countless tosses in and out of the freezer, and a brief stint as a face cooler after getting my wisdom teeth out. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who hates the heat.
I am 10 days out from a THR. I was attracted to this product by the seller/manufacturer descriptions especially the ability to wrap the gel pack around my hip in its slip case. However, figuring out how to wrap the pack around me was higher than my pay grade so maybe that’s a negative but no impact on me giving 5 stars. I use the gel pack by itself since it slips out of its cover to freeze it. Has 3 seams which makes the pack easy to manipulate. I bought the large size as recommended. Stays cold for what seems like a very long time. After trying one I bought another. Read product descriptions. Google the seller and/manufacturer. Figure out what u want the product to do for you.And that does not mean “ice.” Learn how you intend to use this product. I.e. sit on it? Wrap it around what? And on what part of your body. For me my ENEMY is (the) SWELLING. I was told about it, I read about it but no where does anyone tell you how much to expect. Make nice with ice, your BFE. Expect swelling from your hip to the top of ur toes on all sides of your operated leg. Expect pain over the incision site and in your groin. And in your Bun. And remember someone was rooting around in your hip to remove and replace. I sit on my pack, I drape it over my leg once that’s no longer painful. Got the picture?
This is the best cold pack I have ever utilized. It's big enough that I don't have to keep constantly moving it and it's nice and soft even when frozen so it forms to fit your body.
This is a nice, large size. But I was disappointed because you have to wrap it in a towel to use. Others I have purchased have like a felt covering on the outside so you do not need to wrap it to have it on. I need to use an ice pack to sleep at times, and I think it would be uncomfortable to use it being wrapped in a towel. It does not come with any sort of covering.
I have chronic lower back pain and have tried several different types of cold therapy/ice packs. These are THE BEST. I appreciate this gel pack. It’s very cold and filled so thickly while still soft and supple. I use it on my sore hip rather than using pain patches. I don’t even have to refrigerate it for it to get wonderfully cool. My one wish is that it would be available in a longer size as well, 20-24” longer.
After spinal surgery I needed a good, large ice pad to cover my whole lower back and hip area - this pad did it for me. It keeps cold for a long time so I can use it for 15 minutes, set it aside and do another 15 minutes later without having to re-chill it! Driving to purchase an ice pad was out of the question after surgery so ordering from Amazon was quick and easy. I was anxious to have it arrive and when it did - after I put it in the freezer to chill - I had comfortable relief from using it! My husband wraps his thigh with it from a jogging injury.
Good size, keeps its chill for a long time, great width and flexibility for wrapping, laying on, or draping over a shoulder or around your neck. This is a flat pad without velcro type straps for wrapping but it served my purpose. Recommend it!!
