I really needed one of these. I've been using a regular shaped hot water bottle on my neck and shoulders and it just doesn't sit right or cover the area that aches. I also have one of those neck pillows you can stick in the microwave to warm, but they don't stay hot for very long, so they're a waste of time.
This U-shaped hot water bottle does exactly what it's supposed to do. Just fill it about two thirds of the way with hot (not boiling!) water—I heat my water to 175°F or 185°F and that is definitely hot enough. Then carefully squeeze out excess air before closing the bottle. You will probably want to have a layer of fabric between the bottle and your skin until it has cooled down, then you can place it directly on the skin. The bottle doesn't have any smell, which is good.
I love this hot water bottle. It keeps the water hot for a long time and the shape of it is handy for neck, shoulder and even lower back pain. Only gave it 4 stars because it's a bit tricky to fill without burning yourself. [Use a funnel!]
Like this product and works well for sitting and staying warm at the computer.
Wish it came with a cover; ended up using an old arm sleeve and works great.

I suffer from arthritis in my neck and often at the onset of pain my collar bone tend to become very sore -causing me discomfort, especially during the winter months. . I found that the warmth of the hot water bottle give me a lot of comfort, especially if applied at onset of the pain. when filled it does add weight to it and I could see this may be uncomfortable for some. Hot boiling water is not recommended. I nice terry cloth cover for it would be nice. I do heat my water until just as it starts to boil. It is nice and hot, the heat may last for about an hour before you begin to feel it cooling down. it holds a generous amount of water and the opening is about a half dollar coin or slightly larger. PVC rubber is thick, construction appears to be very sturdy and of quality. I a very please with the purchase and am thing of purchasing a second to take on travel. Does not have a strong odor. I hesitated before making this purchase...as I found no review and the arrival date was far out. I am glad I made the purchase and shipping took 20 days. It was well worth the wait.

It does exactly what I wanted, lay around the neck and it stays hot for a good long time! It's also good for laying on the eyes and cheeks for sinus pain.
