I'm giving this a 5 star review for now, though I have not had to actually use mine yet. (And I hope I never need to). The build quality seems good. It's sturdy, it functions well. I've practiced applying it to myself and others, and therefore the windlass has been tightened many times. Though, through all of the use, I see no signs of wear, no popped stitches or ripped webbing.
I would recommend this to anybody for civilian use where the likelihood of needing it would be slim. I carry it to the shooting range just in case, and I would trust it to do its job if I needed it.
Great product! We purchased these out of our own pockets years ago in the war. They are far superior to Military issue. In our eyes then we felt our lives were worth more than the lowest bidder. If your a smaller guy like me you can get by with a regular CAT tourniquet but for larger guys these are a must. Always buy the best you can afford when your Life depends on it!
The first thing you'll want to do is watch a video on YouTube or elsewhere that shows you how to store, deploy, and use the SOFTT. Once you do that, you'll see the absolute genius behind the design. In, literally, a matter of seconds, you can have the tourniquet on and blood loss minimized. It's MUCH easier than trying to use a belt or other found objects.
They claim this is a single-use device, and I get why, but I would have no problem using one for training, and keeping that same SOFTT around for actual emergency use. It's a rock solid piece of kit, and everyone should have one in (or on) their day bag and easily accessible.
Yes this is not an original SOF T it’s a cheaper alternative however the construction is good enough to hold together for use. The clamping system & windlass are both metal & I had no problems when I applied it to myself to test it out. I have no reservations carrying this in my Wildland Fire line pack.
An addition to my first aid kit in my car. Looks like it's up to the job. Was able to get it as tight as needed. Carry nit in my kit with some Quick Clot and bandages

The SOF Tactical Tourniquet is constructed of quality, high strength materials. The windlass is manufactured from a solid piece of aircraft aluminum and maintains its strength in the most extreme temperatures and conditions.100% Effective. Proven to be 100% effective during US Army Institute of Surgical Research testing.Simple application. The SOFTT is applied the same to an arm or leg. Unlike other tourniquets that require you to learn two methods of application and implement the proper method when under stress, the SOFTT is applied the same way to an arm or leg. By accounting for the factors of human performance in combat we have minimized the risk of failure. Applying a tourniquet should not be a multiple choice exam, it should be simple and straight forward. The SOFTT provides the necessary effectiveness with an unmatched level of simplicity to increase the overall effectiveness of the device.Durability. The SOFTT is constructed of quality, high strength materials. The tourniquet handle is machined from a solid piece of aircraft aluminum and maintains its strength in extreme temperatures. The tri-rings are molded Acetyl, a high impact plastic that will also maintain its strength in extreme operating conditions.Reliable. The SOF Tactical Tourniquet is designed to reduce the chance of accidental release or mechanical failure. Unlike other materials including Velcro, the fastening system will perform when soiled, muddy, frozen, or wet.Safety set screw prevents accidental release of pressure during tactical patient movement. The screw is not required to gain hemorrhage control, but it is recommended if the patient will be moved in a tactical environment.Dual locking rings offer a back up locking system.
I took a very close look at my unit that i just got, I found it strong and no marks on any of it's surfaces so its new. It looks like a Sof-TQ It's as good as my Military brand C.A.T. So Im betting its the real deal. I hope I wont ever have to use it, But Its better to have 1 and not need it, Than to need 1 and not have it.
I was hoping to find a way to every day carry this concealed but it is pretty bulky. I have no doubt it will work as designed but have relegated it to a minimalist vehicle trauma kit.
IMHO this should be a part of any first aid kit. I have a kit in each vehicle and in my range bag. Many uses in the cavilian world: severe car injury, poisonous bite, improvised sling, etc.
I would go with the newer SOFTT-W model that has the wider strap. Better constriction.
Requires a couple times of practicing, but super easy to apply one handed.
I’ve never needed to apply a tourniquet in the field but I’ve trained with a bunch of different types. This is my favorite.
Very serviceable; arrived on time, in good condition; functions as described. Packs up very small, very light, convenient for most pockets and pouches. Extremely fast to deploy; with a little practice, can be readily deployed one-handed by the wounded party. Strongly recommend practicing with it several times.
