I bought these glides to replace some that were worn out. The old ones were worn so badly that the head of the screw in one side literally had the Phillips "X" worn totally off where there were no slots to use to unscrew the old screw. Needless to say, that one was a little harder to remove, but it can be done.
To install/remove these (or your old ones) you simply unscrew a Philips head screw from the old one. Once the screw is removed, tension will be let off of the old glider and they will slide out. To install the new one, just push it into the end of the walker leg, then tighten the Philips head screw (it is already attached to the new glider). You will want to tighten the acrew until the glider stops twisting and turning and is tight and secure. Thats it.
The new gliders fit perfectly and they do not feel flimsy, at all. They feel heavyweight and well built. It remains to be seen if we will use the little bootie/sock, but i thought that was a nice addition to the product.
We would recommend this peoduct to anyone who may be in the market for gliders for a walker.
I seldom write reviews because when I buy something I expect it is going to work. In this instance I write it because this item works way better than I expected. These glides are a necessity on a walker that is going to be used to stabilize a person after knee surgery/replacement. If you walk behind the walker in a normal fashion, rather than picking it up and putting it down, you will soon wear out the protective caps on the rear legs. If you use it outside on the road as we do then you will wear them out within a few days.
Buy these before that happens. They are extremely easy to install with just a Phillips screwdriver. The pad that contacts the road surface is about 5/16 in. or so thick and appears to be a very dense polyethylene material. It certainly doesn't wear much and makes the walker much easier to push. The little 'socks' are a good idea inside, if you have hardwood or tile floors as we do. I doubt if they would work on carpet.
All in all a well thought out product that works well!!
This product worked exactly as we had hoped!!! It made our sisters walker almost silent on our wood floor and so much easier for her to use. Then when she took it out onto our mosaicked quartz walkway the cracks between stones were no longer a walker-leg catcher! This made walking so much safer! Thank you so much. I purchased these for my mom as she has hardwood floors and with the booties that come with them they are perfect. They are not as bulky as having tennis balls on the feet of the walker. Love the idea that we can wash the little booties as well as take them off when she wants to use the walker outside. Her healthcare professionals that come in to assist have been amazed by these nifty ski's. They were easy to insert and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for an alternative to unsightly tennis balls.
Very satisfied with the Walker Ski Glides. They fit nicely into the 1 inch inside diameter legs of the walker I was updating without any problems. The lady who uses this walker says it moves much easier now with the ski glides. The only negative I see is that the skis can rotate in the tube even though the adjustment screws are pretty tight. It's not a show stopper, but I may install a sheet metal screw in the outer tube that intersects the ski glide to act as an anti-rotate device. That said, these ski glides are pretty nice and a good value too.

Bought several for backup. Husband has two walkers. One for indoor. One for outdoor. The indoor ski glides we keep the little “bootie” covers on for our hardwood floors. The outdoor walker - no booties. The booties get chewed up outdoors. You need to take them off the walker outdoors. If you don’t have the booties on for indoor - the glides will scratch your hardwoods. They’re not any different if you try to use the tennis ball - outdoors the tennis ball gets chewed up and vice versa. However, the booties are easier to deal with.
My ski-glides keep getting lost as cab drivers, etc. stow my walker. These so far, excellent. Also excellent communication from

Heavy duty glides that securely fit into my mother-in-law's "runner" (we call her walker a "runner" because she tells us, "I don't use a walker." I would have given five stars if the trailing edge was about an inch longer. Nice bonus: these glides come with "footies" - covers for the slides.
The glides or "skis" as I prefer to call them make using a walker possible. I suppose one could get by inside with lifting moving forward, putting the walker down and repeat. The glides allow for continuous walking. I walk outside for about an hour twice daily and the glides make it doable. If you have a walker, you need glides. It's a night and day difference with them!
My wife has been wearing out slides because we often are are on asphalt of other rough surfaces. These slides seem to be holding up very well so far and it looks like they are more durable than the originals or the replacements used previously.
