BAC-D 630 Alcohol Free Hand Sanitizer and Wound Care, 1 Gallon Refill, 128 oz. (Pack of 1)

I am sensitive to fragrances, preservatives and dyes so I have to avoid most soap. Alcohol based hand sanitizers dry out my skin and make me sneeze from the added ingredients. I’ve been using benzalkonium chloride foaming hand sanitizer for nearly 1 year at least six or more times daily. My hands are soft and I’m confident that they’re free from harmful germs. I have four 1.7 oz. containers that I refill when they’re empty. However, the price of the refills of the brand I was using more than doubled in price, so I searched for a lower priced alternative. I find it amusing that you can slap a picture of a cute teddy bear on a product, include ‘baby’ and ‘ganic’ in the name and somehow you can charge twice as much. BAC-D 630 has the exact same ingredient (benzalkonium chloride) as Babyganics Alcohol-free Foaming Hand Sanitizer, although it’s a tad stronger (.13% vs. .10%), but a 16 oz. refill bottle costs twice as much as 1 gal. of BAC-D on a ounce per ounce basis ($.24/ounce vs. $.50/ounce). This is a liquid product that will make watery foam when used in the special containers. It is not, nor was it advertised as being a gel hand sanitizer! It works great!

I run a volunteer tutoring program at an elementary school and I wouldn't be without this stuff. Many of our volunteers are elderly and their immune systems have weakened with age. Because hand-washing isn't practical given the time constraints of our program, I give a pump of this to all our volunteers and students.

I first learned about it from our school health tech, when I asked for advice during of a county-wide noro-virus outbreak a few years ago. It has definitely made a difference. We've had some nasty viruses that have gone around campus since then, and so far our volunteers have stayed relatively healthy.

This product is alcohol-free so it doesn't dry your hands, and it doesn't sting if you have a paper cut, etc. Its a liquid, not a gel, so you need to use a foaming dispenser with it. By the way, that means it lasts longer, just like foaming hand soap. The active ingredient is Benzalkonium chloride, which is in Bactine -- that stuff your mom used to put on your scraped knees and other owies. Unlike alcohol-based hand sanitizer, it doesn't have a warning on the label to keep it away from children. If you google the active ingredient, you'll find research about its safety and effectiveness, and the fact that it keeps working for a while. The alcohol-based stuff is only effective while it is a liquid -- it stops working once it evaporates.

A gallon of this lasted 7 months for me, with 85+ people getting a pump of it 4 times a week. If you don't need that much, I strongly encourage you to try one of the smaller containers that have foaming dispensers. I keep one of those at home, plus a smaller container in my purse. I live in a metropolitan area, but haven't been able to find it locally.

I want to make good on settling the situation I had with this product. 5 Stars, the product is fine.

When I received this product a couple days ago, I immediately used it on my hands and lower legs/feet, but then had a very rancid smell left on my hands that would not go away (actually, it still hasn't), and i didn't try to smell my legs/feet.. After first contacting the company, I left a scathing review about what had happened. but I think I've figured out what happened.

When i reopened the bottle, it smelled fine, like nothing, which surprised me. So I started to think.

There was a lotion that i had put on my hands earlier that day. I put some of this product on a paper towel and it smelled fine. Then I added that lotion on a paper towel and spread it around - VOILA! It was the mixture of the two that created that smell.

So I feel horrible about the now deleted review, and will be deleting my question about this problem, as well.

It was NOT the company's fault. They have already tried to reach me but I was unavailable.

The product is fine after all. Great even.

THIS ITEM IS PERFECT! Please take a moment to understand what the product is, prior to attacking the seller/manufacturer. This is not alcohol based product. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!! As a resident of SoCal where we are having a public crisis of Hepatitis A outbreaks and people are DYING, this product is a literal life saver. BAC-D 630 KILLS HEPATITIS A, alcohol based sanitizers DO NOT! This is not supposed to be a gel, IT IS WOUND CLEANER. As a bio scientist, I know the importance of reading labels and asking questions prior to attacking and making false accusations.

I bought this to treat horse hooves. I was using a product sold for animals which has the same active ingredient and foams up just the same. This product looks and acts the same when applied with a spray bottle. Buying the gallon size was really cost effective and saved me a lot of money. I apply it every day to treat the cracks and holes in my horse's hooves. The farrier (hoof care specialist) really likes the way the horse's feet look with me using this daily. I also get really cracked hands with sores from hand sanitizer with alcohol which we have at work. I use a product with the same active ingredient at home and my hands are great. Update (12/16/2017): I've using this product religiously everyday and my horse is sound again. She has been lame with abscesses and continued to be slightly lame on her best days for years now. She is now sound and we've been working her again. The abscess holes are almost grown out and the cracks look better too. Update (6/2/2019): I am still using this product for all of my horses' hooves instead of any other hoof treatment. I use it in a spray bottle for the horses. The liquid will penetrate down into the cracks We also use the gallon jug to refill germ-x foaming hand sanitizer (exact same active ingredient) bottles that we have in each car. With the right type of dispenser, the liquid will foam up for use on hands.

Description

BAC-D Hand Sanitizer & Wound Care is tough on germs yet gentle on skin. BAC-D kills 99.99% of bacteria and viruses, including Staph, MRSA, E. Coli and Salmonella without drying or irritating skin. BAC-D Hand Sanitizer & Wound Care continues to reduce contamination for an extended period after application. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers offer zero protection against germs, bacteria and viruses once the product has dried. BAC-D Antibacterial Hand Sanitizer & Wound Care provides dual-purpose protection, killing 99.99% of bacteria & viruses on both hands and wounds. BAC-D is a safe and effective anti-microbial for use on cuts, scrapes, burns, lacerations and skin infections as well as a superior hand sanitizer. Active Ingredient: BENZALKONIUM CHLORIDE. Using a proven biocide as an active ingredient, BAC-D products are formulated to kill and inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause skin and other commonly transmitted bacterial infections. Our technology is the difference! BAC-D Sanitizers are infused with a heavy ion concentration which electrochemically changes germ structure and assists the body in retaining the good biocides. This heavy ion concentration also decreases resistivity dramatically, meaning germ strains are less able to resist the change. BAC-D is tough on germs, gentle on skin: alcohol-free, triclosan-free, saline-free, fragrance-free. The 1 Gallon refill is an economic option for both the 1.7oz and 7.1oz containers. When the school send home the letter asking for hand sanitizer this is perfect. Refill the pumps, saves wasted plastic (recycle, reuse, repurpose), kids have to maintain the pump, and it's alcohol and chemical free organic so it won't pollute the water system and destroy the eco system.

I use this in my 4th grade classroom. We mix up the scent with peppermint and orange oil and the kids LOVE it. It is so much better than regular sanitizer and it doesn't eat up the finish on the floors.
Happy janitor- happy students- happy teacher:)

Feel free to donate this item to your child's class. Their teacher will be pleased.

This arrived and it had NO SEAL... I was not happy because it leaked in the bag it was in, and it is never a good idea to use an unsealed product. I contacted the company and inquired about the seal issue.I was told the problem would be fixed and it was, in a very short time. I was reissued a new gallon jug and it was sealed. I was also sent some sample products to try, the small flat hand spray is great, fit into a pocket. I compared the unsealed jug, to the sealed jug and the contents have the same feel and smell. I still tossed the unsealed one, just to be safe.Bac-D is easier on my hands than the alcohol based one that I usually use, so I am a fan! Thanks for a prompt response to my problem with the first jug, I appreciate good customer service!

Exactly what I was looking for. This is watery, as it should be. It is a foaming sanitizer that goes in the foaming pumps NOT A GEL.. All rhe bad reviews are from people who didn't read or understand the product description. Foams up just like it should in the correct dispenser..

My family has been using the non-alcohol hand sanitizer for years. I was so thrilled to discover this big gallon jug to refill the more expensive 7-oz dispenser bottles we usually buy (Germ-X Advance). It kills all the germs I need to worry about (flu, viruses, etc), and it's easier on my hands than alcohol. It's also the same active ingredient as in Bandaid wound wash, but is less expensive and easier to use. I'm not sure the chemicals are great for our neurological system, but for now I prefer to use it since my family can tolerate it better than alcohol.
