I bought these on a whim, because we were going to the beach, and I NEED reading glasses...At first when I opened them, I was a "little" concerned, because of the VERY thin ear pieces. BUT, after being on the beach for a week, I fell in LOVE! They're lightweight, and the cute BAG that they come in is VERY handy! I even dropped them several times on the sand, and NO SCRATCHES!!!
The only problem is these sunglasses are not polarized. I based my choice on the location and size of the bifocal. I tried a number of other bifocal sunglasses which I couldn't use comfortably to see the dashboard when driving, and that was the main reason I had brought them. Suffering from presbyopia, being able to see the dashboard clearly was my principle concern.
That said, these sunglasses work just like they should, and I can see the dashboard clearly. They would be perfect for me if they'd been polarized.
I truly believe these are the BEST sunglasses I've ever owned, and please believe me when I say I've owned a LOT of sunglasses. These sunglasses are superb for handling 'regular' far vision and (in my case, 2.0) reading magnification. Recently I went on vacation and took my current sunglasses (they're current because I haven't lost or broken them yet) and these bifocal reading glasses. The first time I went to the beach and pool, I tried these on and found out how useful they are. Didn't have to keep swapping between 'reading' glasses and regular 'sunglasses'. I wore them EVERYWHERE. For those with good distance vision but need reading glasses, you KNOW how annoying it is to carry around two pairs of glasses all the while hoping you don't break or lose one of them. Let me tell you, these glasses look good when you wear them. You can easily see where the magnification blocks are when you're looking through them, but they are darn hard to detect by someone who is looking AT you when you're wearing them. These glasses provide excellent glare reduction and the magnified vision is very sharp. I'm a skeptic about a lot of things.But this is truly an awesome product and you won't be sorry you bought them. I'm about to order a couple more.
The glasses arrived promptly as promised and in perfect condition. The glasses are well enough constructed, (particularly for the very low price) and they function just fine as sunglasses and also for reading. The only thing that prevents me from giving it 5 stars is that the magnification portion of the glasses extend too far up the lens which makes routine movements like looking at a computer screen or for that matter like looking ahead while walking cumbersome. But hey, for the price they're a good deal.
I bought a pair of these sunglasses to use mostly whilst driving, but also occasionally for reading by the pool. I have been using them almost daily for the past two months. For the money, they are exceptionally good value. The optics are clear and precise, and the bifocal area is positioned about right for both long distance (eyes up) and close up, instrument panel (eyes down) reading. The lenses wrap around the sides enough that there is no side-glare when the sun is shining through the side car window. The hinges, nose piece and arms are very strong and feel like they will last, though the nose piece fitting is not easily adjustable, and the side arms are a little on the long side. That said, they work well enough for me (I fit a slightly smaller than average man's face size).
This is my second purchase of budget-priced bifocal sunglasses in the last 6 months. To compare, the other pair, from another seller were slightly cheaper but nowhere near as good quality, so I would recommend these Optix 55 for anyone wanting a good pair of good-looking, good quality sunglasses at a budget price. I will buy again if and when I need to ( I tend to lose or sit on mine eventually).
One more thing. They definitely look better than the the picture shows, super-imposed on the old man in the ad!!

Hubby has perfect vision. Until, he turned 50. He occasionally needs reading glasses during the day. We have noticed that he would benefit from "readers" when driving. These are wonderful. They are lightweight and similar to regular sunglasses. He doesn't feel "old" when wearing these. These fit well and are comfortable. Check the lens size before purchasing. I wear glasses and contacts, and I needed to refer to him to make sure I purchased the correct lens.
I purchased these sunglasses readers after cataract surgery since I no longer needed corrective lenses for seeing at a distance, but still needed help with reading and seeing clearly up close (arm's length or less). Bought it for flying and really had a difficult time getting sunglasses for the outside and reading glasses for the inside of the cockpit. This serves perfectly and now I can just use this single set for flying. I had planned a nice relaxing vacation to the beach and knew I wanted to spend quite a bit of time reading, but I didn't want to risk damaging my normal glasses. I ordered these and they were perfect for reading on the beach in the bright sunlight, and inexpensive enough that I did not stress about damaging them! A great product!
I bought this as a low cost extra sunglasses for reading on the back patio and they work fine for that. They do a good job blocking the glare of the sun and the reading window is large enough to easily read. They are very lightweight and probably would not do well for primary glasses in the car or for travel they way I tend to treat them but they are perfect for my use.
