There were a number of mixed reviews with this and some other similar specialized heating pads and I was skeptical but bought as a deal of the day item and it works great. A number of women have mentioned that it didn't seem to fit well and didn't like it because of that. I have a 17 1/2 inch neck and it fits well. There is a soft metal bar that runs horizontally in the neck part that can be bent to make fit snug, much like the nose pincher on a paper dust mask.This gets quite warm/hot so sometimes I will put it on 4 for a few minutes and then drop it down to 2 or 1 and it feels very good and it has helped provide some relief for a chronic neck condition I have. Other times I have just started it on 2 and left it there and that works well and doesn't take long to feel the warmth.
The construction is top rate and the outer edges are filled with weights which work well in allowing the pad to contour around your neck and shoulders. The cover is very plush and soft and it fits so well and is comfortable despite it weighing several pounds when you pick it up, but once on you don't notice it at all.
This is more of a suggestion than a complaint as the controller only has forward movement which means you have to cycle though all four positions before it comes back around rather than having up and down switches like most heating pads. Going from 4 to 3 requires cycling off, 1, 2, and then 3. Not a big deal, just wondering why they didn't use the same type of controller as they have on their standard heating pads. It has a 5 year warranty that probably would cost more than it was worth to ship back if the thing is short lived, though this is a common issue with most warranties. Hoping it works as well as my Sunbeam flat heating pad that I have had for years.
My husband has residual neck and rotator cuff problems from a 100 lb dog collision and he regularly uses ice and heat for therapy. This Sunbeam Renue heating pad fit his shoulders and neck perfectly and he wears a men's large size jacket.
The neck area provides more heat than the rest of the pad, but the entire pad is heated. It is rather heavy for a heating pad, weighing in at about 2 lbs., which is why it can contour itself to your body so well. The entire perimeter of the pad is weighted, filled with a bead like substance. The cover is extremely soft material and would feel very comfortable on bare skin. There is a magnetic closure in the front which helps to close the neck and keep the pad in place. There is also a wire in the base of the neck, which allows you to mold the fit custom for your neck. The collar can be turned down if it makes you more comfortable. The 9 foot cord is detachable so the pad can be washed safely. Instructions state to wash the pad on gentle cold settings and dry on low heat or line dry. The four heat settings are a nice option and I can attest that the high setting is pretty hot.
This pad is more expensive than a normal heating pad, which for most applications should suffice, however if you have neck and/or shoulder pain, this is an excellent option. I have always found Sunbeam heating pads to last a long time.
I suffer tension headachs often. I've used rice/bean filled neck wraps that you heat in a microwave and tried wrapping flat heating pads around my neck. The rice wraps are easy to over heat and they don't cover much while flat heatinfb pads don't contour enough. This neck & shoulder heating pad truly contours from the base of your skull to cover your shoulders, easing every muscle assosiated with tension headachs. No more heavy rice wraps that I have to keep putting in a microwave and burn my skin! And the cover of this contoured neck wrap is so plush!! I let my family try it & had to order more for them! It's totally worth it if you have any type of muscle/shoulder/headache problems!
I bought this heating pad because of serious neck problems. I really like it! It has no odor, it is weighted, and has little magnets to close it (not completely useful). I keep it on the highest heat and it is not too hot. The cord is long which is helpful. Worth the money. Strongly advise this one over other brands or lesser model.
I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I do! The fabric is so soft and the heat hits me where I need it most, my neck and shoulders! To be honest the first time I used it I almost fell asleep because it felt so good. My husband has arthritis in his knee and he wrapped the collar around it and enjoyed the heat. It's not supposed to be used for other body parts but it worked. Glad I purchased this!

I have arthritis in my neck. It goes snap, crackle, and pop all the time. When a cold front comes through, it is painful as well as noisy. This heating pad fits well and stays in place. The magnets close the front and keep the heat in. I start on level 4 to get it warmed up, then move to level 2 for a long, warm, soak. It relieves pain and improves range of movement.
I bought this as a replacement for an OLD version that just wore out from very heavy use. I'm older, have severe arthritis, and spend A LOT of time sitting in front of my desk top computer. I have neck pain, shoulder pain and headaches. I would be lost without this heating pad.
I read the reviews on this Sunbeam Renue Contouring Neck and Shoulder Pad. This review is based on me using this roughly 6 + hours daily.
1. This model is much larger and heavier than my old one. Yes, it took some getting used to, but the extra weight keeps the heat snugly against your neck and shoulders as you type, watch TV and chat on the phone.
2. There are 4 heat settings. I use the 3rd setting. The 4th setting is a little too hot for me. I wear a t shirt or light blouse at home. My guess is the people who stated this did not get hot enough may have been using it over a heavy shirt (?). Regardless, I can't tolerate the 4th setting for more than a few minutes. I often fall asleep in my recliner with this on the 3rd setting.
3. The cord is on the wrong side - yes, it is awkward and takes getting used to. I would prefer the cord on my right like my old one but oh well. You get used to having the cord draped in front of you. The most important thing for me is the heat and the area it covers.
4. You can pull the sides in to adjust how it fits against your neck. I use the magnet closure in front to keep it in place.
Recap - I have used Sunbeam products for years and will not even try other brands (no, I have not been paid to say this - I have been using Sunbeam pads since BEFORE people wrote reviews). The ONLY thing I would like to change on this model is to move the cord to the right side.
This product is perfect for neck and shoulder pain. The heated neck piece comes up to the back of your head just as advertised. Using this has significantly decreased my neck pain, and increased mobility. Also, you will not be disappointed with the range of heat levels because this thing gets HOT on settings 3-4, I almost never use 4.
Very nice neck pad. Delivers heat to the right places. The highest level gets very hot which is right down my alley. The neck area is pretty sturdy so it hugs the neck area. Also, a lot of reviews complain of a smell. It is faint almost not even noticeable unless you stuff your nose in it. The pad I got is great!

I was surprised to find this much better quality than I expected. It’s easy to put on, and love the magnetic clip. It is made with very soft material, sits on shoulders securely without being heavy and has the most wonderful warmth especially in the neck area. I am so glad I decided to go with the extended neck area model. It gets warm very quick. I usually like the setting around 3, but it is great to have 4 levels for different needs. Get the extended neck model. It makes all the difference! You won’t be sorry! The grey color is very nice - glad I chose that color.
