After the first rail arrived I immediately ordered a second one in order to have greater coverage of the bed. The second one has a slight defect which prevents the little button from popping through the hole designed to hold the top grip in place. I notified the seller and I can get it replaced however it will require me to pack-up and ship the defected one back. While this is an understandable request I don't want to bother with it so out comes the duct tape. I'm wishing I purchased this from a local store where exchanging it would be less hassle.
Purchased these for my 92 yr old mother's bed as she recently had a back procedure and getting out of bed was very difficult for her. These are easy to attach and fairly sturdy if installed correctly. She likes the pockets on both sides to store remote controls and small items. So far the rail has held up fine. You install them using fabric straps underneath the mattress. Took about 8 minutes from start to finish to install. Liked it so much we purchased a second one so both sides of the bed now have railings. If using these on a twin bed you will need to adjust where you install them as they will overlap on the bottom. Better for full size or larger beds but workable for twins.
I purchased 2 of these bed rails. One for my sister-in-law to help her get in and out of bed. She had atrophy in her legs from not being mobile for along time. She is improving every day bit the rail has helped her very much.I purchased them other for my Mom. She has a high mattress and was standing I g on a small step stool without anything to hold onto. I was afraid she would fall so I got the rail. She safely gets in and out of bed now and has not lost her tv remote anymore with the great pockets on the rail. Thank you

We purchased this to attach to our bed after I underwent a major back surgery. The hospital beds all had rails that let me push myself up from a reclining position, but our home bed didn't have rails. This bedside rail works like a charm -- we were able to snap it all together in a few minutes, and it comes with a cinch tie (like the kind you use to cinch things onto a pickup truck, but with a nicer silky texture) to keep the stand firmly in place.
I really love that the stand itself is so nicely padded, and it's really easy to grip and pull myself upwards. The slide-on cover is really nice, too; one side has three remote control pockets (perfect for TV, DirecTV, and Playstation 3 remotes in our case) and the other side has a single pocket that holds my eReader nice and snug.
The only downside to this bedside stand is that the bed covers won't hang quite the same as they used to when you make the bed now, but it's a small trade-off for being able to get in and out of bed on my own without help. I'd buy another one of these in a heartbeat -- I'm completely satisfied with it.

ETA: I have edited this from 5 stars to 3 stars because on the third day of use, I noticed that the large side pocket was deeply frayed at the edge and pulling away from the cover. It looks like the stitching job was done poorly, which is very disappointing to me especially since I can't imagine how to get a replacement cover. I don't know if this is an isolated bad batch or a problem with all these units.
ETA2: I wrote the manufacturing company (link to their contact form in the comments of this review) and they were kind enough to send out a new replacement cover right away for free! This one fits perfectly and doesn't have the frayed stitching at the edges, so it definitely seems like the first one I received was an isolated case of a bad batch. I've returned the review to the original 5 stars and I really couldn't be happier with this product and its company.
I like it because it gives my dad pockets to store remotes and it's not too wide. My dad is in a wheelchair so he really needs to pull on it to stand so the base and strap are ok with a thin mattress. The mattress doesn't weigh a lot so it lifts slightly when he pulls on it to stand. My dad had to learn how to pull himself on to the bed so the mattress doesn't lift too much.
It's a sturdy handle and the pockets are very useful.

My husband loves this little bed rail I have placed on his hospital bed. Now he has the bed control safely tugged inside the bag and his box of tissues within reach without it slipping down to the floor! He has not waken me up because of these items falling down during the night ever since I installed the bed rail for him. Thank you Able Life!
I purchased this for my 93 year old mom. She has an adjustable bed. She slid out of the bed onto the floor so I thought a bed assist would help. This one worked perfectly. Even though it is not for an electric bed, it does work. We were careful when putting the strap under and it works great. She loves it and says it assist her so much with positioning and getting in and out if the bed. We do not use the cover in order for her to have a better grip from different positions on the bar. I recommend this highly.
I had to connect this to the slats of my High platform bed. I called the manufacturer’s number for advice, they were helpful. This bedrail is sturdy and has been a good handhold as well as preventing me from falling out of bed.
Got this to assist me getting in and out of my very tall bed after lumbar fusion 4 days ago. Best assistive device I have bought by far.. The pocket is great to hold phone, charger, water, and meds if needed.
I wish I had bought this years ago! It provides a sturdy "hand" for getting in and out of bed, and just an added level of security as we age. The strap easily slips between your mattress and box springs, and then hooks on the other side of the bed to the bed rail. It can't be pushed down or out, and is completely mobile. It probably took no more than 5 minutes to install. No screws, no permanent attachments. It folds and you can take it in your suitcase when going to a hotel or visiting friends. It was the PERFECT things for my family member.
