I'm the caregiver and son of a very ornery senior mother with numerous health & physical issues. I purchased this item for her bed and thought it perfect. Small enough so it didn't get in the way, but the size of the base creates a very stable handrail. The quality is good, assembly easy, and with the two long straps, easily secured to the mattress.
Unfortunately my ornery elder mother swears it lifts up the mattress (which it doesn't ) and insists that she no longer could get up on the bed, so I returned it.

This is exactly what I was looking for. My therapist recommended some type of bar to assist me getting off the bed. I did not want one that restrained me, but helped me. Sometimes I use it to help me turn over in bed. I have an electric bed with a very thick mattress, but this works with my bed. The only part that projects above the mattress is the top handle section.
It is very sturdily made, and although I thought it was a little pricey, it does what I need for my circumstances. I'm sure I could have gotten a cheaper model, but don't think any other would have been suitable.
The was an excellent purchase. The rail was put on an adjustable base twin size bed. Using the straps provided it was tightly attached to the part of the base that is raised and lowered at the head. The measurements makes it a perfect fit. The pocket is very handy for the adjustable base remote, a phone and a tv remote. The person using this rail is a 95 year old female who broke her hip. She uses the rail to help her get in and out of bed. Her physical and occupational therapist said the rail was the best thing for her.
My Mother recently had a fall and now has some trouble doing daily activities. This and other items I have purchased are really helping, and recommended by the Physical Therapist. The product is sturdy and does not create an uncomfortable situation where the form goes under the mattress.

Remembering that hospital beds I'd seen in the past had side rails to keep a patient from falling out, I wondered if there was some sort of after-market rail system that I could install to keep him safer.
The Medokare product did the trick. It was easy to assemble and install, and now serves the purpose perfectly. I looped the nylon tie-down straps (under the top mattress) around each opposing side, thus further stabilizing the rails. Be sure to cinch-down the rails as tightly as you can (using these nylon straps), to make the rails more stable and less wobbly. There are no sharp edges.
Dad hasn't had a repeat incident since i bought these (more than a year since installation). This product is just what we needed.

Works great. Nice and sturdy. Using it for my father who is 92 and at times, a little unsteady when getting up from bed. He likes it to push off of as he gets up.

I purchased this for my mom and she loves it! It helps with getting in and out of bed and she also likes to keep a small pillow against it to give her some proprioceptive sense of the mattress edge when she is turned away on her side. It seems stable enough that we did not use the straps. It is placed under a Tempur-pedic mattress that is heavy.
Bought this for my father, and he loves it! I've seen it installed on the bed, and it's a very discreet addition. He's not elderly, just very arthritic and needs help getting out of bed in the morning. He says he's able to grab it with one hand and pull up with ease. My mom was concerned about not having slats under the bed to attach it to, but she said that the way it's made with your body weight on top of it, it doesn't budge at all, even without the slats. Product is still new, will try to update if things change, but so far seems to be a great product!
