LifeVac - Choking Rescue Device (Public Access)

I actually purchased this through our CPR trainer. My adult disabled son, who has Cerebral Palsy choked today on french fries while I was driving on the freeway. He was not moving air and very scared. I pulled onto the shoulder and was able to frantically put it together and used it on him. With 2 plunges the french fries were out and he was breathing. It took a matter of seconds to put together and use it and he was moving air. He is in a electric wheelchair and the chair is tied down on the floor. If I wouldn't have had this, It would have taken too long to get him out of the van and out of his chair to do the Heimlich. Because of this device my son is alive! Thank god! Thanks to the inventor. It is definitely worth the money. I am going to buy more!

I heard about this product online, in the comments of an article about a toddler who died from choking. I immediately put one on my amazon cart, but left it there for a few weeks while I debated whether it was worth the price. But I kept thinking about it, and couldn’t imagine how angry with myself I would be if one of my children choked and I DIDN’T have this.

It comes with three masks - one for children, one for adults, and one to experiment with. The masks are reusable. This should not be used on children under 22 pounds.

My husband immediately tried it out on himself, and confirmed it does indeed have very strong suction. The instructions suggest you just try it on a table. It’s very easy to use - I have doubts about my ability to do CPR correctly if I had to, but I am sure I could use this one in a choking situation. Technically you could use this on yourself, though I’m not sure I’d have the presence of mind to do it if I was choking - but if you could stay calm, you could do it.

The people giving this product bad ratings because they don't like its price are absurd. This isn't some jerry-rigged piece of junk. It's a life-saving medical device that took time, research, manufacturing, and marketing to make it out to the general public. All emergency medical tools cost money because it took money to make them. $70 to have a life-saving device on hand isn't expensive. You can store it until you need it and it'll still work. If someone's life is worth less than $70 to you, then there may be other issues to consider, but don't take it out on the manufacturer. We keep 2 of these in our team clubhouse and I had to break it out once when a kid was choking on a burger after one of our football games. They're great, and they work.

When we received the Life Vac I got a little too aggressive trying to insert the mouthpiece into the vacuum and it got stuck. My husband tried to pull it out for me and broke it. Life Vac kindly sent a replacement along with a link to a video showing how to insert the device correctly (it doesn’t actually go in as far as it appears to in some of the photos & videos). We tried it out and the suction is strong. Great peace of mind and I hope we never have to use it.

The cost is fine. It's better than funeral costs

I have a terrible fear of choking for myself and my two children! My friend's niece died after choking on a piece of chicken, and it was devastating. When I found this LifeVac, I ordered it and now have it in the kitchen.

Our boys are 10 and 12 years old and we have now gone over the instructions with them and discussed what to do in case of choking if one of us are not there to help. I know it's a little pricey, but the alternative is UNTHINKABLE! I worry since my oldest son comes home from middle school and is alone for a little while until I get home. I beg him not to eat anything that he could choke on until I get home, and he knows I have this fear. At least he could use this if the worst happened. Both of the kids are older now and I think they're capable of using it if they needed to. The instructions say not to use for kids under 40 lbs., so keep that in mind. My kids are more than double that weight, so I don't worry, but don't try to use on little ones.

As an ER physician and a new parent, choking comes unexpectedly and takes lives. This is necessary for anyone with babies. If they are choking, this is your best bet as standard practices don’t work and can damage soft developing tissue.

I love having people over! A lot of people! One of my biggest fears is chocking or heaven forbid having my children, my husband, or one of our many guests chocking. I pray that I never have to use this, but so thankful to the makers of this products that I have one!

I ordered this after watching videos on it. I have this crazy debilitating fear of my children choking. My daughter chocked when she was one and luckily I was able to get the food out. I keep this on me at all times. It stays in the bag in my diaper bag. LifeVac you have made this mama feel better if it ever happens again that this may save my kids or someone else’s life.

I hope I don't have to use it, but the product is high quality and I would feel confident using it on myself or anyone else should it be necessary.
I love the peace of mind it gives me!
