Invacare Safe-Clip Insulin Syringe Needle Clipper, 3

Invacare Safe-Clip Insulin Syringe Needle Clipper, 3 Count

Invacare Safe-Clip Insulin Syringe Needle Clipper, 3 Count

Great device I wish I'd found out about before investing in many Sharps containers over the years... Wow, so you can now clip off the small needles from your insulin/tuberculin syringes and throw the used syringes in the trash! How wonderful to not have to carry around a Sharps container anymore and have to find a facility to dispose of used syringes. Now all those hazardous needles are stored in a tiny, easy to carry plastic device. Granted this device is only appropriate for smaller, thinner needles (see package description for what sizes), but my life is much easier keeping this with me on the road, traveling, one at home too for daily use. I have not had to dispose of the container/needle clipper yet but it is small enough (about the size of 2 corks end to end) and is easy to use too.

If you use a syringe, this is for you. These are really hard to find and I've been using one since I discovered them here- so glad they're still around! I was devastated when I broke the one given to me by a nurse that replaced the worn out metal one I was given when I developed diabetes over 50 years ago and was still using a glass syringe that was sterilized daily. Boy those were the days. This thing is super great for training kids to use- you can reach around and use your butt or your arms or legs or stomach= super, super easy. Push a button and flicks it in painlessly without having to think about it. THANKS A LOT. I've ordered them multiple times here. They hold up, last forever and so glad they're here!

Over the years I have tried a number of different needle clippers. This B-D clipper was the first I used, as it was recommended by the diabetes educator and my pharmacist as well, even though there are more expensive ones. Easy to use and effective as a save way to dispose of the sharp points. It worked so well I bought a second one, and they took forever to become filled.

Eventually I tried a couple of other types and also purchased sharps containers. The containers have been a very, very poor option since there is no save and environmentally friendly way to dispose of them. I have not found a hospital, medical facility, or recycling center that will take them, nor pharmacies etc. Other clippers either failed sooner or later (usually sooner) or were somewhat clumsy to use.

I have stuck to B-D clippers because of their durabillity (only one has ever been a problem) and safety (never had an accident). I am comfortable disposing of them in the trash because they take up so little volume, then I put the other parts of a syringe in recycling. Works out well.

This is one of the best things I have bought, no worries about someone getting the used needles and getting hurt.
It is so easy to use and not bulky you can carry it everywhere. I keep It in a bag with my insulin and needles so its easily accessible.

These Safe-Clips were bought for my parents, and this is what they had to say about them. This is a great device much better than those big syringe containers. These are much more user friendly. You just clip off needle which stays in this little device, and throw the used syringes in the trash. It is compact; you can easily take it with you. It stores a lot of needles. The price was so good; they can keep them in multiple places such as work, home, traveling bag, purse, and/or backpack.

Description

The BD Safe-Clip Needle Clipping & Storage Device removes insulin syringe needles and pen needles safely and easily.

In many states, using this clip will allow you to dispose of pen needles in the trash, as it removes the bio-hazard end of the needle. The end that punctures the pen is still there, but that is not usually considered a bio-hazard, and the cap makes it unlikely that someone would stab themselves. However, it will NOT cut the lancets, so you still need to dispose of those as a bio-hazard. Because you use a lot more pen needles than lancets, that is not too inconvenient.

Packing this in your needle kit will take less room than keeping all of the pen needles for bio-hazard disposal. When it finally is filled with needles, get another safe-clip. It does leave a very tiny needle stub, which never entered your skin. That stub will be covered by the cap.

This Invacare Safe-Clip Insulin Syringe Needle Clipper holds a tremendous amount of needle tips and is very easy to use! I would never go without one again having to use insulin syringes!

The Safe-Clip is a simple, elegant solution to the problem of dealing with used "pointy things" like syringes. I use the Safe-Clip to remove the needle, rendering the syringe just another piece of plastic. At that point I can treat the syringe as ordinary garbage if I don't have a better choice.

This is a replacement for the ones I purchased when I first started using needles. I never put a used needle in my sharps container before I cut off the point. The ones I threw away I have used at least five years. They would absolutely not take another point. I think that is incredible.

Great product for those of us who are type 1 insulin dependent diabetics & have to clip syringes after each use. The fine needle tops are store in the barrel section of these devices, they are small, compact & convenient.
These were a brilliant buy due to the price.
Wasn't impressed with how long it took to receive them, took 30 days for delivery after paying $33.71 AUD in postage, sent a message about the goods as had tracking on them but was totally useless after the 29th July, 2013 just completely dropped out.
So thankful they arrived today, Monday 19th August, 2013 & everything was in good order.
