OK, I don't know a lot about supplements and am just learning about DHEA as I am learning about my Multiple Sclerosis but I can tell you without a doubt that over the last couple of weeks of taking this product my sleeping has improved significantly. This is a big thing for me due to the fatigue that comes with MS.
It is a little hard to work with as measuring a proper amount is difficult so the recommendations of a proper scale and micro scoops should be listened to. And be advised that it does not mix with liquids well at all (floats to well).
I am eager to see the long term benefits but the short term sleep improvement is worth it by itself.
I'm attempting to boost my sagging Testosterone levels, I'm 55 years old and I enjoy being active and am forever improving my Tae Kwon Do skills and would like to go beyond Black Belt and be able to continue for life. I have a prescription for HRT but since I started using Bulk Supplements I know what I'm taking and have piece of mind knowing that it's pure.
My order arrived a day early which is an example of how the company treats it's clients.
I plan to come back with an update with pictures of the results I get.
There are limits to reviewing a product like this (without a chemical lab ;^) but here's what I can say: I've used this before in pill form, so seeing it all in one ziplock baggie, it doesn't look like much. But don't be fooled, it's the legit amount. And I believe the purity is good because the capsules I previously used were large dosage and I used to open them to take half amounts, so I tasted it [bleh!]. The Bulk Supplements version has the same taste, very strong, so from that I gather that the purity is good. I blend it into a dose of food that masks the taste, usually something fatty, and that works fine.
This is a sincere review, but I must disclose that I was nudged by an offer of a free sample of another Bulk Supplements product. I'm happy with them and I expect to keep buying their stuff.
If you're in doubt you can do what I did at first: Figure the quality is similar to others and buy items that are best on price.
I bought the smallest (size 4) gel capsules to take this - Capsuline gel caps on Amazon. If you completely fill one capsule, that is 130 milligrams. I've tried many doses - up to two capsules a day, the biggest dose I have tried. I found some studies online where doses were 200 milligrams a day for several months.
I went to Walmart and bought some very, small containers where travel-sized bottles are sold. I half-way filled the small container with the DHEA. To fill a capsule, just push the open, big half of the capsule down into the powder one, two or three times depending on how full you want it. Then put the top back on the capsule.
DHEA is unlike most supplements. It is a hormone instead of vitamin, mineral, amino acid, herb, etc... You do not take a lot. If you take too much, it will turn into estrogen in your body. It can also harm you in other ways.
I've been reading up on the studies. Most report very few side effects, but researchers always seemed to caution about increasing the risk of prostate cancer and enlarged prostate. Any part of the body with hormones (breasts, prostate, etc...) is at an increased risk. Therefore, I'll strike a balance and cycle the supplement. I'll take more for a week, less for two weeks, and none for a week, and I won't fill my capsules all the way to 130 mg. I'll fill them three-quarters of the way - about 100mg.
200 mg a day will make you feel good, and some weightlifters take that much. It won't kill you just to try it. I think less is better with this though so I'll take 100 mg a day for weeks; stop for a few days; and then start back at 100 mg a day. I am 54 years old and of medium build. Since taking DHEA, I have had more energy to do more throughout the day.
***LAST UPDATE*** The last time I cycled this, I discontinued using it. I already get a great testosterone boost from Tribulus Terrestis, Fenugreek, and DAA without any noticeable side effects. I think I was using too much of this, and the reviewers on here saying 25 and 50mg are probably correct.
I recently added bulk supplements dhea to my preworkout mix. I have been living on a ketogenic diet for the last two years so bulk supplements allow me to mix a zero carbohydrate preworkout drink that is tailored to my needs. I have been using approximately 1/4 of a 1/8 teaspoon until I pickup a drop sized measuring spoon which from reading other reviews roughly equates to the recommended 25 mg dosage. The powder is very fine and mixes smoothly into cold water and hot coffee without any distasteful flavor. In terms of benefits I have noticed less post-workout inflammation and increased energy levels. I plan on continuing the 25 mg dosage for a full month and then may try to increase to 50 mg to see if I experience any additional benefits. My one complaint is that the small ziplock bag inside the standard bulk supplements package was not sealed. This resulted in the powder spilling inside the large package for a net loss of powder since it is so fine and sticks to the sides and crevices of the package. Bulk supplements was quick to issue a refund and I will continue to be a faithful customer.

Description
DHEA, or dehydroepiandrosterone, is a natural alternative that supports the levels of DHEA in the body. Dehydroepiandrosterone, DHEA is secreted by the adrenal gland and serves as a precursor for testosterone and estrogen. After the age of 30, DHEA levels begin to decrease.
I had been using a cream containing a low level of DHEA, as part of a doctor-supervised diet. It really helped with food craving and energy levels while on a low calorie / low (glycemic index) carb diet. But this stuff is another thing entirely. Even at the introductory dosage it made an amazing difference in my energy level. I think I'm going to lay off for a while before my next physical (coming up soon) so that I can get a "baseline" number on my natural DHEA from the doc - it is recommended that you do this to see if you really need the supplement. I'm pretty sure that the number must be low for me, and at age 62 it is highly likely.
Weighing the dosage does take a little practice, but I like the idea of having precise control. After feeling what the intro dose did to me, I'm thinking this is pretty profound stuff and hence the less, the better.
We received the DHEA powder and used it according to instructions. Small doses to begin with to see how you react. Ours was positive no side effects. More energy better workouts so far. Happy with this as we have been with all of Bulk Supplements products.
YES THIS STUFF WORKS!!!! is this legal lol I definitely noticed difference in workouts. I mixed with my pre workout, and also took a dose before bed.
Only drawback is measuring can get tricky, and it's on the pricier side of bulk supplements offerings but worth the splurge
I drop a small amount into a shot glass with a bit of water in the morning to start my day. For me it provides a calm energetic alertness that last all day. The DHEA in powder form is a bit tricky to use at first. I placed it in a left over pill container and use a wooden coffee stirrer to dispense as the daily amount required is very small.
I spent half my life in a weird fog where I couldn't get restful sleep and never felt all the way awake. I had horrible fatigue, couldn't remember anything, and didn't care about anything. I as waking up every morning in pain and still desperately tired.
In my more lucid moments, I'd go to a doctor I hadn't tried yet or search for my symptoms online, only to hit dead ends or sometimes find a thing that would make me feel better for a few days.
Then I ran across a list of symptoms that were like, "fatigue", "depression", and "super-sensitive hearing." Which immediately had my curiosity piqued, because I seriously had some Daredevil-level sensitivity to echoes. While sitting at my desk at work, I could hear every single creak, rustle, tap, sniffle, or whoosh on the whole floor.
That article said that combination of symptoms was DHEA deficiency.
So I bought some (Zhou brand). I was willing to try anything; nothing could possibly make me feel worse than I felt already.
Day 7, I was bouncing in my chair at work, giggling maniacally and feeling the urge to go for a run. No, I'm not bi-polar, LOL. It's been a couple of months now--this is for real! I break down into tears every few days because I'm so happy to be alive again.
The 50mg I started with turned out to be too much, so I switched to BulkSupplements so I could fine-tune the dose.
It's the same stuff, with the same effect, and that's the highest praise I could possibly give anything.
In case you're curious about the dose, I'm a 39-year-old female that weighs 150lbs. 50mg was too much after about 6 weeks (got a little aggressive and pimples on my chin), 30mg wasn't enough after 10 days (started waking up tired again and got forgetful), trying 42 now, and that seems about right. I'll keep fine-tuning it as time goes on.
A strange side-effect I've noticed is that my tolerance to caffeine is about half what it was before I started taking DHEA. Another one is that I never got hunger pangs before, and now I get them. With a *vengeance*. I also get sleepy now. You'd think I was sleepy all the time before, right? Nope--I was too broken for that, apparently.
And yes, the echoes have been dampened--I now have a hard time parking my '04 Civic just by listening to its engine's tap-tap-tap bouncing off things, without rolling down the window first. Small price to pay! LOL.
