No fabric, perfect! I hate when my aches-and-pains ice packs (esp around my neck) smell like my stale freezer. The vinyl exterior doesn't absorb smells, love that. You will need a towel between you and the ice pack-- or else it will be too cold (freezer burn your skin). Also it does drip (without having a fabric covering) and a towel will take care of that (small, few drips...not like a leaking faucet). It freezes quickly but you will need to lay it out for a few minutes before using for it to become flexible. And flexibility is the BEST part about this product...it softly wraps around your neck and shoulders perfectly unlike most ice packs. You can walk around with it on because you don't have to hold it or balance it against your chair/bed. I am thrilled that I purchased this ice pack for the pinched nerve in my neck and strained shoulder muscles.
It is filled with gel that stays cold for at least an hour, much more than the 20 minutes of icing that is recommended. It is heavy enough to stay put and it's flexibility ensures wrapping. The shape helps to ensure that it is high enough on your neck so you are truly icing your neck. It would have been 5 stars of it were longer or there is a choice of sizes, small and large. This fit well enough but does not come down to my chest as shown in the picture. As an paddler, I have broader shoulders than most women and I am a larger woman. A large man would have trouble wrapping it around his shoulders. I wrapped it in a king size pillow case and it fit fine for me.
It was in great shape when it came and it was shipped quickly. I do recommend this product.
Great ice pack! I unfortunately deal with migraines especially around "that time of the month," and even after taking meds it does little to dull the pain. To get some relief I use my cold packs but the ones that I have were not that big and pretty much only covered my forehead. This would not be a big deal IF my migraines were only in my forehead, as anyone with migraines knows, they can go all over the place, even down my neck :(
After my last migraine where it was all over the front of my head and in the back of my neck I decided it was time I got one that would cover a larger area so, I took to Amazon and came across this one.
It has been a life saver! Not only can I cover a larger area but it can pretty much wrap around my head for those times that the headache/pain is everywhere.
The other major plus about this is that it gets nice and cold but the pack itself doesn't get super hard to where you can't mold it the the areas like some of my other ice packs. It stays completely flexible to fit anywhere and keep it close to the area without loosing its form or coldness(?). (Is that a word? Meh)

I need another one! I like how malleable it is. When I take it out of the freezer, I can situate it however I like. It's not like a brick of ice that you have to wait for to mould it. I can roll it up and stuff it in my neck and lie on it. I can wrap it around my head all the way for a migraine and I like how the curved part can go down my forehead. That was a little intense and I could only do it for a little while. I like the material of it. It's not soggy like some get. I like how far down my back I can drape it. I move it every which way. I do wish it stayed cool longer. It will for a good 20-30 minutes. So I need another one when I get back spasms that won't go away. It's not so icy cold that it causes initial pain like some other ice packs do. But it's cold enough to decrease the inflammation. I can wear it right on my skin and it feels good. I like how far out on my shoulders it reaches. I am petite, but it does go across my upper back and drape to the front of my shoulders where I get really sore. I will buy another one because they sent me a good coupon to be a repeat customer.
BEST ICE PACK EVER!!! Seriously, I NEVER Write reviews...I'm icing my neck now. This pack is soft, does not leak, lasts a long time. Stays super cold beyond the 20 minute limit recommended by my doc. But if I step away for a while or get distracted...I can return and not worry about having to refreeze it. I'm thinking of buying 4 for my nephew who will undergo double knee and ankle surgery this summer. Never seen a better ice pack.

I suffer from migraines and this is a great product. Works nicely, stays cold long, fits my neck and shoulders perfectly without having to hold it in place - much better than smashing a square ice pack around my neck and shoulder.

The best thing I've bought myself in a long time. I've used it every night since it arrived! I must admit though, after the 3rd or 4th night, my muscle spasms were gone! My wife is using on her shoulder she told me that jell evens out very quickly and she can lay down it lasts her a long time and she gets some relief quickly and most times it lasts for hours. The he’ll get very cold but never to the point that you can not move it and the refreez time is not very long .

I have had 1 neck surgery and facing 2 more in the near future. Have always had neck and shoulder pain I have tried at least 10 or more different types of ice wraps this is by far the absolute best! It is light in weight and very bendable and stays cold a long time. It molds to your neck so I am able to get up and move around without it falling off. Your not stuck in one position like all the other ones I've tried that would fall off as soon as I stood up. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that needs a good ice wrap!!!
I really like this product but I don't love it. The shape is a little bulky around the neck(when first out of freezer) if you use it like the picture advertised. When it starts to soften up, it's great, however it doesn't hold the cold that long afterwards. So, since all of my back pain is on the left side, I drape it over my left shoulder and down the left side of my spine, that works great for me. (2 herniated cervical discs w/left arm radiculopathy, spinal stenosis, bone spurs, arthritis) I still use my other ice packs in addition to this one.
