This stuff works. Every week for 5 weeks I added directly to the outflow side of the septic tank because my tank was not draining the way it should. For about 7 months the septic tank would overflow on the distribution side when laundry or the dishwasher would run. It would also maintain a high level constantly and would overflow during any high use times. After the fifth week i popped the cap off the distribution side and to my suprise the tank had receded back down to where the pipe exited to the drain field. I was a total non believer but now Im a believer. Im not saying its going to work in every case but in mine it did. If you are fairly sure your drain field is fine and you have no broken pipes go for it. It beats digging it up especially when you dont have to.
I thought our septic field was in big trouble. I poured one bottle in the septic field outlet to the field and one in the septic tank. The liquid in the tank didn't seem to be completely digested, not to be gross, and it was really stinky! I also poured about A week later I opened the cap to the septic field inlet and the liquid seemed to clear and didn't smell. I poured another down the field. I also poured about 4 cups of copper sulfate crystals into the septic line. After another week our toilets work like they have suction underneath. Amazing and great. I plan to buy more of this and to keep it up.
Symptoms:
Water started draining slowly and toilet closest to septic tank started gurgling. Called a plumber and "over the phone" he diagnosed as a septic issue and suggested to contact a drainfield repair person. Then contacted called multiple drain field repair companies, so called "experts", who all said the same thing: "YOU NEED TO REPLACE YOUR DRAIN FIELD BECAUSE IT'S MORE THAN 25 YEARS OLD". HOWEVER, NOT 1 PERSON DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO SEE IF IT WAS ACTUALLY A DRAINFIELD ISSUE! Quote: $5000 to $7500 (Wow!!!!!!)
Then so called "septic expert" suggested, drain the tank and this will give you a couple of months to save your money. Septic company who came to pump the tank, and said "Ya, it's your drain field, we have seen this hundreds of times. Pumping the tank won't fix anything". Well, it helped for a few weeks at first and then the problems started again.
REMEMBER, NOT 1 PERSON TILL NOW DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE!
Money was tight, and couldn't afford $5000 to $7500. We decided to try septic shock and everything else in market in an attempt to speed up the water draining. Well, NOTHING WORKED. The problem re-appeared again, and we had guests coming for the weekend. We decided to pump the tank again, after 3 months 1 day before guests arrived and then sign the contract on Monday to replace the drain field. Sunday, 1 hour before the guests arrived the water started backing up and not draining at all. Worst, this time raw sewage started backing up (YUK).
I couldn't believe a 1050 gallon septic tank would be full in 2 days, with two people and no other discharge other than showers and toilets into the tank. Called another septic company on Monday at 7 am come and pump the tank again and when they opened the tank there was A HUGE SURPRISE.....Tank was only about 20% full, WHAT???????
The septic guy said, it's a blocked main drain line. The new septic company jetted the main drain line from the septic tank, and a few packets of solid septic shock comes flying out of the main line which had caused the block that resulted in slow water draining and gurgling.
After 6 months of this episode everything is working fine. We saved money in unnecessary drain field repairs and most importantly NOT ONE SEPTIC REPAIR COMPANY OR PERSON SUGGESTED TO CLEAN THE MAIN LINE. We learned a valuable lesson and would suggest to try the below noted before embarking on replacing a drain field:
Step 1. Call a plumber and INSIST on having the main drain line cleaned and inspected with a camera.
Step 2. Pump the septic tank
Step 3. Punch holes in drain field, because if it's a biomat issue, this will fix it in a hurry
Step 4. NEVER TRUST THE WORDS THAT COME OUT OF A DRAIN FIELD CONTRACTOR BECUASE THEY DON'T MAKE ANY MONEY BY DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM.
This product didn't help to clear the blocked line, but may have helped to clear the drain field issue.
I have a 74 year old septic tank. Recently my roommate bought not so "septic safe" toilet paper. I am as careful as can be with what goes in the system as far as paper, grease, cleaning products, etc. ....but all the drains started draining slowly. I was getting panicky asI can't afford big plumbing bills right now or the new tank that would be required under current codes ....so decided to try this. I put half of the jug in the toilet and flushed (I have a small tank and wanted to wait a few days and see if I needed the other half). A few hours later water seemed to drain quicker! I thought that must just be my wishful thinking and it couldn't possibly work that fast. However, days later I did confirm the bathtub definitely was draining properly now because there was no soap residue left inches up the wall of the tub after a very quick shower as before. I did wait a couple weeks to put in the rest of the product. The toilet is also flushing better. I am very pleased with the results and am going to buy again for maintenance. It came very quickly and was sealed in a plastic ziplock bag for safety.
Week 1: I used one bottle of this directly into septic plus two GreenPig GreenPig Solutions 53 Concentrated Formula Live Septic Tank Treatment, 2 Year Supply packets in the drain field access/inspection pipes.
Week 2: Same treatment.
Week 3: Two GreenPig packets flushed.
Week 4: One GreenPig packet flushed.
Problems cleared up. Really seems to work, including drying up the mudswamp bubbling from below the surface in the drain field. Small price to pay for peace of mind.

This stuff is great. For best results pump out your septic tank add two bottles. Wait three days and add two more bottles then and one bottle per week until you've gone through 10 bottles then at 1 per month. You should see results before you've gotten through your first 10 bottles. The manufacturer offers 100% money back guarantee. It probably didn't rejuvenate my septic system two brand new but it at least save me several thousand dollars for at least a couple years.
I want to say first that I do not have a septic tank, I'm in the city limits and I'm on the city sewage lines. So I didn't even know for sure if this would work for me.
I've been having a problem for a few years, when there are heavy rains and flooding, my toilet won't flush. I have to wait for the water to dry up. As time went on, it was taking longer and longer to start working again, and less and less rain to make it malfunction. As you can well imagine, it was getting unbearable.
I knew the problem was in the lines and not the toilet itself, but it's almost impossible to get the city to do anything, and even if I succeeded, they'd tear up my fence and yard and just leave the wreckage there. So I turned to google.
It turns out that this is a common problem with modern low flow toilets - they just don't have the power the old ones did and they need to be treated with this kind of product every now and then. Newer toilets are kind of anemic and they need help. Of course NOBODY TELLS YOU THIS.
There are basically two kinds of products you can get - this kind, and another kind that dissolves roots. I figured that if roots were clogging the lines, they'd still be there in dry weather, so it had to be something else. I went with Septic Shock. It didn't cost much, and the reviews looked good. I poured a bottle down the toilet - the nasty thing wouldn't flush - and didn't really expect anything. My thoughts: "I just flushed eight dollars and seventy cents down the toilet."
For two days, nothing happened. On the third day, I noticed that the water in the bowl was clear. I hit the lever and - SUCCESS. It flushed.
It's recommended to use this stuff weekly for the first month, and periodically after that. So I ordered another bottle, and, like clockwork, the flush was a bit sluggish a week after the first treatment. Whatever was clogging the lines was starting to grow back. I flushed the second bottle.
I now once again have a functioning toilet. I can leave the toilet lid up and the bathroom door open. Two more weekly treatments, and then I can cut back to monthly or as needed. And I still have a yard and fence!
My leach field was not working as well as it should, and slows down during overly wet times. After the first treatment, results were noticed. I use it on a regular basis and you can't beat the price.
This Septic Shock liquid seems to be working on our 1500 gal. tank, tank fluid flowing good to leach field, no back-ups, draining good.
Septic was backing up not draining even after tank pumped. I put 4 of these at one time down my system and within a week or two everything was fantastic. I'll be using this monthly to maintain my system. p.s. I tried other products first which did not work. This stuff brought drainage to the septic field (we didn't know where it was) to the surface. Saved me thousands of dollars.
