When we moved into an older house, we were repulsed by the musty odor in the closets. Even after leaving doors and windows open and trying to air the place out, running air purifiers and steaming the carpets, mopping the wood floors and checking for mold, we couldn't quite get rid of the abandoned library smell.
I purchased these without high hopes and was pleasantly surprised by how much water they collected in the first week and how quickly the smell began to improve. Within the first month, the bags were full and needed replacing, but the closets smelled like new. I keep buying them because I have yet to uncover the source of this extra humidity causing the stink, but they do their job well.
These work very well pulling the moisture out of the air. It’s a very strong scent at first, but after a day, you can barely smell it at all.
It’s very easy to see it working as the bag slowly fills with water.
The only part I have a problem with, is it can stain fabric if the water pulled from the air leaks on anything (because the flakes that pull the humidity from the air have a synthetic in it that can cause the stain). So I am very careful with where I put them so they aren’t knocked off, and I am careful when I throw them away once they are full.
I use them in each closet, the “fish tank room,” and I use them in our camper.
I’d love to use them in the bathrooms, but they are big causing an eyesore, and would probably fill to capacity after a single shower was ran, lol
We live in the Pacific northwest. Which means Rain, which means lots and lots of moisture in the house.
We place these babies everywhere. Like closets, empty bedrooms even in dining room.

Bag style Damp Rid easy to see all the moisture being pulled out the air. Very satisfying to monitor moisture as it is taken out, since the water gathers in bottom of bag separately from grains.
I have an old truck that gets a lot of moisture in the rainy Washington weather and I hang one of these in it and the truck doesn't get that moist mildew smell and the windows don't fog up anymore. got a couple in my shed as well.

I use this product to eliminate moisture & odor from air in home. It is very effective & is so almost immediately. The design is great in that it allows you to see the moisture pulled & collected in the unit. The design also tells you when to replace. Overnight I could see collected moisture in the unit. Overnight, I could smell the difference upon entry into the home. This is a positive product, worth the $ & cost effective.

DampRid is the bomb! Have used these for years with excellent results. We live in a tropical climate, with little to no air conditioning so mildew can be a problem. The scent is pleasing and the product works as described. Put them in each of our closets and even in our horse barn for our leather saddles (not the hanging type but the containers w/ refills.
Use these all the time and they eliminate the moisture. No more mold in a small closet. The odor is okay and dissipates after a few days. I would rather have a so-so odor or even moth balls than mold.
Great for the 28' travel trailer! I can't keep it plugged in so this really helps with Georgia humidity.
