Drive Medical Trigger Release Folding Walker, Brushed

Drive Medical Trigger Release Folding Walker, Brushed Steel

Drive Medical Trigger Release Folding Walker, Brushed Steel

I'll tell you what. If you need a walker you are not likely to find one any better. It arrived exactly as described. The levers are not brakes but are the quick release to fold the walker flat. This seemed overkill but I gotta say it's very handy and no fumbling for metal levers or buttons. If you have to fold to pack in a car or just to squeeze around an obstackle by partly folding one side part way, it's easy and natural without moving your hands off of the walker. Drive Medical, the manufacturer, seems to totally get what we need in simple assistance products. I am a fan.

My 94 year old mother really loves this walker. She drives her car well (just got her new license), but has very little strength for walking or lifting. This very light aluminum walker has trigger releases on each side (like pistol handles) for opening and closing it. That's very important because she can't lift a normal walker into her car, and she can't open and close a normal folding walker. This new walker is the best one I have found because it's light enough for her easily put in her car, and she has enought strength to easily close the walker when she puts it in the car, and easily open it when she takes it out of the car. This walker is well made, is attractive, and should last very well. Mother is thrilled with it because it's a big improvement in her life, and it gives her more independence and more self confidence. I recommend it highly.

I am using after ankle surgery due to a non-weight bearing leg. I use it solely in the bathroom. ( after transferring from my knee scooter). What I like about it is that you can easily ( and with one hand) close one side to move it around in the smallish bathroom which helps me transfer to / from the scooter. I also have a regular walker that I can’t close easily, and that one is rather cumbersome to move around in the bathroom. Also - even with it partially closed, it is stable enough for me to hold onto while getting onto the scooter ( while being careful - note that I am young-ish and my usable leg is fairly steady).

This rolling walker was recommended for my husband after knee replacement surgery. His physical therapist was very impressed with the quick-release trigger fiction - she had never seen one like it. It's incredibly easy to fold to put in the trunk of a car, and more importantly, you can quickly and easily fold in either side of the walker - for instance, when passing through a narrow space, such as next to the car in the garage, or through a tight spot in a hallway, etc. It's extremely lightweight to carry, and as an added bonus, it's very attractive! We also purchased the add-on 'skis' - be careful (with this and any other walker) if you have hardwood floors, to occasionally damp-wipe the wheels when coming in from outside, to make sure a tiny rough pebble or dirt doesn't scratch your floors (but of course, the person needing this is more important than the floor!)

This was the cheapest walker that I tried and is the one I decided to keep. It is pretty basic looking but that is not really a concern for me. It definitely helps keep me stable while walking. It's a pain to turn corners with this one because the wheels don't swivel, but the trade off is that it is more stable for me to hold onto while rising from a seated position. Ultimately I'd like one with a brake of some sort to make it stationary when needed, but I wasn't able to find a lightweight walker with brakes.

I got this for my mom when she came home from the hospital. At first she didn't want to use it, but quickly learned that it was the only road to recovery. As it turns out the little extra help worked out and she was walking on her own within a few weeks.

The walker is easy to open and fold, and stable enough for inside as well as outdoors. The height adjustment works well. My mom is 5'4" and she was using the next to the lowest setting. Plus, the way she was throwing it around I didn't think it was going to last the weekend, but it's a lot stronger than it looks. It's also one or your more attractive walkers.

Al in all, great quality product at a good price.

I have this walker for my use and have been using it for 5 years now. I waited to review since I really wanted to see if the product is a good one. I use this daily. I walk outdoors daily in all types of weather. I drive. I need something that is lightweight, durable, classy, and yet classic. Yes I am young and will need to use a walker for my lifetime.

The brushed steel sets this apart with the distinctive black and then the blue brush marking design plus the blue quick release handles are the best! I can fold this myself, lift it myself, and lift myself up from a seating position safely by using the lower support bars or the actual hand area bars.. The design is useful. The handles are strong enough to carry a small bag. I have already used this method to bring groceries into my home. Also for shopping trips with multiple lighter bags this helps. The brushed steel keeps a distinct appearance.

The width is the same as other walkers that I have had. I am not a big person. I stand 5'1" and this is adjustable to a person's height. I like that my body does fit inside the width comfortably since I am told to stand tall, suck in the gut, and tuck up the butt when walking so that my hips, shoulders, and ears are aligned for better back and walking posture. The wheels can be placed inside the legs for ease in getting around in small door frames or on small walkways.

The tips without wheels do need replaced as worn. I have used tennis balls, skis, gliders, and the normal rubber tip. I have not had any problem finding replacement tips that fit. This is a personal choice as to the best tip. I would like to find something as durable and the "durable equipment" is designed. This cost is normal no matter what walker I'd use. The original wheels are still used. These do get dirty often and I do cleanse occasionally.

I wish there were more colors to choose from though. I like to be stylish. LOL

04/21/2017 UPDATE:

The design has changed since I did my review. I just saw this new one and it isn't the original style. I have the older model with the ridged rubber handsets plus the rubber wheels. I don't like this new design at all but it appears all manufacturers changed to the plastic grips and wheels. The type of plastic used for the grips and the wheels makes this a hazard on wet surfaces and of course the grips are nice to see but as a grip when wet I don't feel safe. This material has caused some to fall or lose balance.

I am 6.1, and it is a perfect height for me. I was wanting a tall walker, with the easy open / close handles. I finally found this Drive brand. The opening / closing handles are the very best kind. No fighting a broken flip switch or a sticking type. AND they are easy on the hands that have Arthritis in them. Great product and reasonable price too.
I bought oversized wheels for mine. I am very happy with this set up.

I did not order this model, but didn't notice that it was different until I tried to fit a basket accessory on it and it wouldn't fit. Neither did the Drive tray! Nothing fits it! Trays are not returnable, according to the Amazon policy. The trigger release gets in the way and it does not have a crossbar. However, it is a great Walker, easier to fold up than the button release model. It goes in the car well, and seems lighter also. The blue is sporty and fun. Aman promised to credit me for the trays and the difference in price I was charged, but that hasn't happened yet.

This easily foldable walker has served me well. Better than what the hospital had and easily folds for storage in car and restaurants. I don't have this ugly object blocking the walking path. The side bar is at a perfect height to prop my broken leg on. Most importantly, I stay balanced w/out falling rising up from seated positions. Definitely recommend.
