I am a Paramedic at a rural EMS service and I love my Bat Clip.

My wife gave me a Littman Master Cardiology III upon graduating from school and I almost never used it on the truck because I was afraid of losing it at a patient's house, the ER, or to another envious Paramedic. After getting the Bat Clip I always have my stethoscope with me on duty.

I no longer have to scrounge around the truck after a call because my stethoscope rests nicely on my belt. It initially had a bit of a learning curve with re-holstering after use, but it was solely user error. I quickly overcame that issue and have had no problems since.

Trust me, it is very nice to have your stethoscope at the ready when you need it, instead of back at your patients house. I highly recommend this product.

I'm a medic, and after spending years dealing with the crappy plastic belt-clip stethoscope holders, which resulted in one lost scope just getting out of the rig, and many, MANY cases of my scope falling out when sitting down, standing up, or moving around I finally gave up and started stuffing my scope in a pants pocket. Not ideal - it's a pain to get out, and even worse to get back in, but much safer on an ambulance than keeping it around my neck for someone to choke me with. So, when I saw a flight medic wearing one of Dr Li's Batclips' I was intrigued. When I saw he was able to move freely with it without the scope falling out, I was interested enough to buy one. I just received it today, and I'm impressed. My scope (a conventional diaphragm & bell model) fits easily in the clip and stays there securely. The velcro is strong and does not seem at all prone to releasing itself, so having my scope slide out while I'm moving around is no longer a major concern. The 'easy' way to insert the scope does leave a loop hanging down, which could be a concern in some environments, like a passenger seat, however I was able to secure my scope equally well with a second loop inside the wings (basically the same way I made it fit into my 5.11 pocket) where there was no dangling loop to catch on anything. This would make it very slightly slower to re-secure (having to wrap the scope before clipping), but if you're worried about it catching it will eliminate the loop. I'll post a photo of my method shortly. Overall, the Batclip seems to be an incredibly well built, solid stethoscope clip that does exactly what it's designed to -- holds your scope in place regardless of what you're doing. In that sense it might be a one-trick pony, but if you're an Paramedic, EMT, RN, or ER Doc, that's one trick that you, your neck, and your pockets will really appreciate!

Update after about a month of solid use: Works great. The clip on the back is solid metal, well made, and holds well to your belt. The wings secure solidly and I have had no problems with the scope sliding or coming out. The only potential issue is that the Batclip can slide on your belt if you wear an especially thin belt. It's made to fit about a 2" belt and will stay in place quite solidly on that. If you wear a 1.25" belt it may be prone to sliding, depending on where you position it. If so it's not a terribly difficult fix, either adjusting how to clip it on, wearing a slightly thicker belt, or clipping it to both your belt and pants will all stop the sliding. Overall it's held up excellently during a month of solid 911 shifts.

The ONLY stethoscope holder that works!!

I used to drape my stethoscope over my neck, until I had an expensive high quality one (and WORTH IT) actually crack on the tubing because it was always around my neck in contact with my skin oils.
I only ever even kept it around my neck because NONE of the stethoscope clips i had tried even work! (The plastic ones) NOT A SUNGLE ONE WORKS!! (If it’s plástic? Don’t waste your $$).

Bat lip is the ONLY ONLY ONE that works with EVERY single stethoscope I’ve EVER owned.

It actually PISSES ME OFF that the stethoscope clip world has started to COPY batclip!
I see 2 or 3 out there now on Amazon which seem comparable (and probably do work), but since WildTree is first in my book, I will NOT buy the one which is 51cents cheaper, nor will I buy the one I just saw which is a few bucks cheaper. Wild Tree deserves my loyalty for making the best product while mass-merchants make clips that LOOK like they’re work but NEVER do well, no matter the stethescope.

The batclip is the first one I ever found that actually makes ANY sense, and not only that, I believe it’s STILL hand made! (Right?)

I’ve had my batclip (and shears-holder - awesome titanium shears!) a year or more now with almost DAILY use (between jobs - I only get every other weekend off. Though I even use it on days off sometimes with my daughter, or my bff’s sick kids).

There is no way in HECK that I’ll EVER buy any other stethoscope holder from someone else - even if it’s similar & cheaper.

The similar ones might not even last as long. My batclip looks and performs just as well as it’s first day in service.

LONG LIVE BATCLIP!!.

I’m even thinking of buying a large batch for my 22 graduating students this May, and maybe for all my hospital coworkers on PM shift this Christmas (if I can make ends meet well enough)
Im for-SURE getting it for close nursing/medical friends & family this year at the very least.
***batclip is WORTH IT!!!***

Do NOT waste $$ on plastic clips for 12.99... your stethescope will never seat in them.

#batclip

I bought this after losing two stethoscopes, ordering another, and then finding the original in a draw in the hospital. I now have three and can attest that this works equally well with Littmann cardiology III and Master Cadiology stethoscopes. (I got an upgrade!) My Batclip holds my stethoscope out the way without tugging on my scrubs. It feels expensive and well made. It's truly a joy to use and I anticipate many years of rounding-made-easier. It has also reduced the upper back pain I was getting from carrying my scope around my neck on top of my overstuffed resident white coat. :)
This would make a good gift for the resident/fellow in your life.
It's particularly awesome if, like me, you ordered a really good quality stethoscope that has the short tubing to reduce interference and it falls off your shoulders all the time.

I am a physician, and I am very prone to headaches. I hate wearing anything around my neck as even a tiny weight can give me nasty tension headaches. I can't stand to wear a white coat or even a stethoscope around my neck. For a couple of years I tried to suck it up, then carried my stethoscope in my hand or over one shoulder - all terrible options. I tried the cheap hip holster I'd gotten for free somewhere, but the hard plastic shape is impossible to actually clip on your waistband and it's surprisingly tricky to get your stethoscope in and out of those things.

Enter the Batclip.

I found out about them when a colleague of mine strutted into work one day with one on his hip. It looked professional, functional, and comfortable, and I was sold immediately. I bought one that day and loved it just as much as I thought I would - it's easy to use, the clip works well on scrubs or slacks with or without a belt, it looks good, and it is entirely reliable - all of that a must for a busy day in medicine! It held up well under heavy use (seeing 20-60 pts per day, 3-6 days per week in various settings) for about five years, but gradually the velcro just wore completely out. I don't fault the manufacturer for that since velcro will always wear out eventually. I contemplated buying more heavy duty velcro and trying to fix it since the leather and clip were still in good condition, but laziness won out and I recently bought my second one. I love it just as much as the first. The only thing I wonder about is if a snap might make the product even more durable. All in all, though, I love these and plan to have one forever. Thanks for a great product!

  • DISTINCTIVE, PROFESSIONAL, TOP-OF-THE-LINE QUALITY. Individually made in Maine from hand-picked cow hides, the BATCLIP holster provides an elegant carrying solution that matches the value that physicians (and all healthcare workers) place in their stethoscopes. Unlike the newer plastic hip clips, the BATCLIP simply feels better in the hand. Its lineage includes the venerable leather doctor's bag. Both improve with age are built for a lifetime of proud distinguished use.
  • DESIGNED BY AN EMERGENCY PHYSICIAN seeking a solution to repeated misplacement and loss of his own stethoscopes. His criteria for an ideal stethoscope carrying solution included extreme portability; durability against water, weather, and age; a fail-safe scope-securing mechanism; quick scope access; and simple scope re-holstering.
  • >20 YEARS OF TESTING. The original prototype, from 1995, has undergone over a dozen substantive improvements based on the inventor's use in his hospital, EMS, and rural developing world medical practices. Upgrades have included changes in materials (ballistic nylon to leather), fasteners (plastic to metal clips), shape (short to long wings), and even thread types. The fundamental driving force has always been to create the best stethoscope carrying solution for real-world medical practice.
  • MANY STETHOSCOPE VARIANTS, ONE BATCLIP. Based on feedback from doctors, nurses, paramedics, veterinarians, and medical students, the BATCLIP is designed to accommodate many variations in scope design. Originally sized to work with the Littman Classic, the holder was redesigned in 2012 to work with scopes having a variety of head sizes. The BATCLIP now fits most types of adult and pediatric stethoscopes, including the single-head Cardiology and electronic or amplified stethoscopes.
  • NO HASSLE WARRANTY. We're proud of our products. (Our other one, the BATCLIP SHEARS, includes titanium trauma scissors.) Unlike the makers of once-use disposable medical goods, we make BATCLIPs to last for a lifetime. Made with love and care in a small multi-generation family-owned leather shop, the BATCLIP works better, lasts longer, and has achieved a superior reputation because of its success in actual use. Thus, if anything ever goes wrong with your BATCLIP, we will repair or replace it.

Description

BEWARE OF COUNTERFEITS. The BATCLIP is the genuine article! Tired of carrying your stethoscope on your neck or misplacing it after setting it down? Want a solution that reflects the profiency symbolized by your stethoscope?

The BATCLIP is an elegant handmade holder that secures your stethoscope for quick access and trouble-free carrying. Two leather wings lined with hook-and-loop material (the same industrial grade "Velcro" used in blood pressure cuffs) hold your scope securely alongside your hlp. A military-grade metal clip firmly attaches the BATCLIP to your belt, pants, or scrubs.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE.

First, clip on the empty BATCLIP. The optimal place to attach the BATCLIP is at the midaxillary line on the left hip, clipped to a belt or pant waistband. (The metal clip can be used with scrubs but may need padding - knuckle bandage or similar - if the clip lies against bare skin.) Placement on the left hip ensures that the opening leather wing is facing backward, so that it cannot get caught on anything that would inadvertently pull it open.

Midaxillary placement allows the BATCLIP to be out of the way when sitting, walking, running, or boarding an ambulance or helicopter. Too far forward and it gets in the way of things like a pants pocket, grasping hand, or doorknob. Too far back and it impedes comfortable seating. Thus, midaxillary line is usually best. (For those with wide hips, placement slightly behind the midaxillary line is sometimes more comfortable.)

Second, get the stethoscope ready for holstering into the BATCLIP by tucking the head (the diaphragm and bell) of the stethoscope inside the top of the round space made by pushing both earpiece arms together (see photos). Open the two BATCLIP wings, place the head-and-earpiece assembly inside, and close the wings so that the stethoscope head lays on top of the wings. The stethoscope tubing should hang below the BATCLIP.

I'm a nursing student always on the lookout for items that will make my clunical more efficient and safer. This is the best invention and investment I've found to protect my stethoscope. Not only does it provide a safe, out of the way place for carrying; the sturdy, thick leather base of the holder protects the diaphragm from damage and contamination. I no longer have to worry about losing it, or it falling out of my pocket. The quality is better than I anticipated, and with a lifetime guarantee makes it even better. Although with the quality being so high, I don't anticipate having to use the warranty. I Love it and have recommended it to the rest of my student nursing cohort. Thank you for an amazing product!

I work in EMS and am always leaning over for equipment, pt assessment, and other physical tasks. Here comes the day that the bell of my steth conked a pt in the forehead because I always carried my scope around my neck. I needed a way to keep it close but out of the way. I've owned this velcro strap for a year now and it is one of the best buys I've invested in for my job. It not only looks cool but the velcro has stayed very strong. I clean the leather often with the caviwipes and it has not worn down. I think of EMS as a sort of medical police, so to have a holster of some sorts is fitting for the job.

On the first day of lab in Nursing school our instructor told us she had better not see any of us with our stethoscopes around our neck. She told us she'd seen one too many frightened patients grabbing stethoscopes around people's necks, YIKES! I quickly sought out to find an alternative way to have access to my tools and came across the BATCLIP. This handy dandy clip allows me to wear my stethoscope on my scrub pants where I have easy access to it and I'm following my instructors request. It is very easy to remove and place the stethoscope when I need to and the scope is held snuggly in place. It is made well and has held up nicely for me so far. My only issue has been that the clip itself that holds the clip to your pants is difficult for me to open enough to slip onto my pants and it tends to hurt my fingers, but I imagine it is designed that way to keep the clip in place, or maybe I just have wimpy fingers haha! This is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. It would also be nice to have some additional colors to choose from. I am glad I purchased this clip and it has served its purpose well. I've even had some class mates admire the clip and ask where they can buy one as well. Hope this review helps you make a decision.

I used the Batclip essentially throughout all of residency. Very convenient, I will likely continue to use it for the duration of my medical career. I have never lost my stethoscope like the rest of my colleagues. Frees up a pocket for storing additional tools/stuff.

Nevertheless, there are certain recurrent criticisms that are evident though if you sort through the critical reviews.

1) Velcro. Very easy to open shut and hold snug, but it will definitely wear out. In fact, My old one stopped working due to the Velcro wearing out after about 3 years, but Wild Tree Designs shipped me out a new one and I sent my old Batclip back in. Excellent customer service. I think that all things considered I would prefer for Wild Tree Designs to keep the Velcro design.

2) The clip itself. If you sort the reviews they all say some iteration of "the clip hurts me". I assume these are doctors/RNs/EMTs that wear it on a scrub. I myself wear it on a belt and I never encounter these issues. I do notice that it tends to leave an indent on my belt, but this only became an issues after 3 years too and I just bought a new belt for 15 bucks

Summary: Solid product. Amazing service. Keep a reasonable expectation of what you are buying. For its price this is the best on the market.

So good I bought 3! I purchased one back in 2011 and recently bought another one for a part time job. Recently I bought one for a friend for Christmas. I still have the original, and it doesn't look much different from the new one - it has held up VERY well. I have used it everytime I work. I can't stand having my stethoscope around my neck, I've tried other clips that don't work well for one reason or another - this one works. I've never had it come off my pants (the clip is secure). It also keeps my scope from walking away - before I bought this clip I'd lost 2 or 3 scopes. Haven't lost one since 2011. Worth the $25 dollars. It is made of quality leather and the clip itself is metal. I've not had any problems with the finish of the metal coming off or rusting. The leather has held up well also.
