I recently had meniscus surgery on my knee for the second time. Part of the post-op instructions are to keep the incisions dry but I found that there are hardly any products targeted at keeping the knee dry - there are products for hands, feet, legs, arms...but not knees. :/ This was the only product I found to keep a knee incision dry. With my first surgery a couple of years ago, I didn't find these and resorted to putting waterproof bandages over the incisions, wrapping it with plastic grocery bags (hygienic?) then taping the bags to my leg. That didn't work. Next I tried the waterproof bandages over incisions and wrapped my leg with Press-n-Seal. That kept the water out but then I broke out with a rash everywhere the Press-n-Seal touched my skin. Sigh! This time I found this product on Amazon. I have heavy legs so was worried that it might not fit my 28" thigh but was pleasantly surprised that it DOES fit my leg and it DOES keep the water out! Yay!!! There is an opening in each end of this item that you can gently stretch to fit your leg. It fits tightly on my leg and I don't have to tape it to keep the water out. NO water has gotten inside. I've been using the same sleeve for a week now without any issues. After I shower I wipe the outside dry with a towel and hang it over a soft hanger so that it continues to air dry. I highly recommend this Waterguard Leg Sleeve.
After breaking both wrists in a fall, one of my concerns was how to shower. After checking out several types of arm covers, I chose Waterguard Short Arm Style. I wanted a product that would keep my casts dry, yet was thin enough to allow me to wash my body and hair. These have been perfect. For a while I had someone put them on and take them off for me, but now I am independent. The first pair lasted for 20 showers. The openings are stretched out enough now that they might leak. It's time to open a new package that will last through the rest of my healing. I have been amazed how the small opening would stretch over my arms, but seal above my elbows.
I have shared this information with the Dr. office, my occupational therapist and an oncology nurse. This is ao much better than trash bags and tape. I always had a small leak with them. The only improvement I would make would be the placement of the thumb, it was too high for me. If I used it, the guard didn't go up as far on my arm. I just don't use the thumb and get along fine. This product has been great for showers, I don't know how it would work for submerging a limb in the bathtub.
I broke my wrist and have a cast almost to my elbow. Since I have to have a cast for 5 weeks I needed something to keep it clean and dry. Trash bags and duct tape are not my thing so I was happy to see these at a reasonable price. When I opened the box I was a little skeptical that these would work but much to my delight they do! Getting two in the box is an added bonus. I keep one in the kitchen for washing the dishes and one in the bathroom for showers. I'll be in a cast for 5 weeks and I've been using these for almost 3 weeks now and I see no reason why they won't last the full 5 weeks. The only drawback is that they are really big.
Had knee surgery and need a protector for showering. 2 are in the package and they just look like a thin plastic bag. But it fits perfectly and seals off your leg so it stays dry. Be gentle putting it on and off so it won't stretch or tear. Sometimes less is more !
I had a knee arthroscopy, so did not have a cast. The material is very thin, but strong. One lasted for about a week with 2 uses per day. When using the second one, I cut off the bottom of the leg which did the job beautifully keeping the bandaged knee dry and enabled me to wash my foot while showering. The Waterguard is very long so should fit tall folks just fine. I am short with heavy legs, and the product worked well.

The waterguard sleeve is slip-on, self sealing protection that fits snug enough to keep water out, while remaining comfortable to the user. it slips over arm, leg and knee injury sites and comes in adults, children and infants sizes.
When I 1st opened the package I seriously wondered how on earth this flimsy plastic was going to protect my cast. Well color me shocked because it has done an AMAZING job at protecting it in the shower!! I would not go swimming in this, but it has been fantastic and SO easy to get on and off, and comfortable. I was so glad to be rid of tape & garbage bags and stopping the bloodflow through my arm. This product was surprisingly fantastic.
I ordered this prior to my knee surgery and I'm glad I did. It works really well. I've used it three times for a shower and my leg stayed dry. It does seal well to keep water out. I could see this bring a bit slippery on the foot area if you do not have a shower mat or a slippery tub floor. I do have a shower mat and have not slipped with it. I would recommend this for anyone getting a surgery where their whole leg will need to stay dry.
I had thumb surgery and this worked perfectly. I have a cast on my lower arm and thumb and the roomy thumb space was just what I needed. The cover is water proof and I have been able to use the same one everyday for a week so far and still have the second one as a spare. I just rinse it and hang to dry. I had tried other methods and products but this worked the best for my needs. Thank you for a great product.
Much nicer than the CVS version. The material is very supple which allows you to hold the soap! The other one Tried was too heavy no tactile feel at all. And so far the seal works great easy on and off.
I use the Waterguard to protect my arm after surgery. I wear a brace on my arm that locks it at a 90 degree angle while a muscle and ligement repair heals. The brace sticks out past my arm and the Waterguard has to be stretched every time I put it on to make around the right angle bend of my elbow. I did not think this would last a week but it has held up very well to a least one shower a day 2 and a half months and still works great. Pay attention to the legnth, when it says will work on uo to a 35 inch arm they do not mean 35.1 inches. Very highly recommended!
