I have had incontinence since my radical prostatectomy in 2012. Over the last year, the condition has worsened to the point where pads/undergarments did not suffice. I was going through 4-6 per day. Searching for a non-surgical solution, I started researching clamps. After much reading, I went with the Bard Cunningham clamp. Well, it works as stated, but is incredibly uncomfortable. It is bulky and becomes painful after about an hour of use... even though I remove it to urinate frequently.
Enter the Weisner. This work as stated AND is VERY comfortable (all things considered... having a d**n clamp on my penis)! The adjustable clamp is obvious, but what is not shown are the 3 different "risers" that fit beneath the lower rubber press. These enable you to get a precise fitting that applies the proper pressure to the urethra without compressing other penile tissue beyond comfort. This product is great!!
I've been a user of cunningham clamps for about 1 year and decided to give Wiesner a try. 1st impression was not great since I would leak a lot. The problem seemed to be the clamp would slip to the clamping end since it was wider than the hinge end. After a few days of experimenting, my results the Wiesner clamp got better after I learned to place it more carefully. After 2 weeks I can offer my impression/comparison of both clamps. Your mileage may differ.
Ease of putting on: Cunningham clamps is easier to put on and place correctly - Wiesner requires more careful placement to minimize leakage. I switched to the smaller insert which I think helped reduce the slippage to the wider end.
Comfort: Wiesner is clearly more comfortable and can we worm all day without any discomfort. Cunningham would cause discomfort and I would often have to remove it due to the significant discomfort.
Cleaning: Wiener is clearly easier to clean and much faster. Cunningham requires several hours to dry, Wiener can be reused in minutes after washing.
Leakage: I think Cunningham prevents leakage and accident better but with careful placement, Wiesner also will stop leakage. With the Wiesner I find if I go over 3 hrs without removal it will leak. Their recommendation is removal every 1 to 2 hrs. In both cases I need to use a heavy pad in case of leakage.
Removal: Cunningham is easier to remove, the wiesner ofter requires use of 2 hands and at times is a little trickie.
Durability: can't comment since I haven't used the wiener long enough. But I do know the cunningham gets stained after a few months and requires replacement. The pads of the wiesner seem a lot more stain resistant.
Bottom Line: I clearly prefer the Wiesner clamps due to its comfort. I can use it every day, all day and I can't do that with the cunningham clamp. Its not perfect but the Wiesner is currently my clamp of choice.
Works great for me. I've tried others and they were very uncomfortable after a few minutes. I inadvertently discovered how comfortable this is by accidentally leaving it on for a couple of hours...and not knowing it. Now I feel comfortable using it when I do not have ready access to a restroom. I use a Men's Liberty which I change once a day. I need to use an incontinence clamp for a couple of minutes to accomplish this. This is why I happened to leave with Wiesner clamp on. I'm going to Europe for a couple of weeks road trip and know it is not easy to find a service station or McDonald's restroom so I will be using the Wiesner clamp to get from restroom to restroom...perhaps at least two hours apart. It doesn't take much to make me happy, but this $40 item makes me very, very happy. All men are different, but for me, this clamp works perfectly for me. I've ordered another one as back up if the one I'm using fails for some reason.
I am three weeks post protetectomy and I have heavy bladder leakage later in the day. I can sit and lay flat with no problems, but standing causes me to fill up pads pretty quick. Used the clamp for the first time this past Saturday and it changed my life! No leaking for the two hours I wore it. Needs very little pressure to work and I did not find it uncomfortable. Used it again yesterday, Father's Day, for about 6 hrs, making sure I released it every hour to empty my bladder. Not one drop of urine in the 6 hrs I had it on and for most of the time, I forgot I was wearing it. So glad I tried this product and that it works for me. Hope it does for you too!
I am a bladder cancer survivor, who had a radical cystectomy with neobladder in 2016. A client of mine recommended I try a penile clamp because her husband, a prostatectomy patient, found it very helpful. The online reviews for this clamp were good, so I ordered one. It turned out to be godsend. Until my daytime continence improved, I was experiencing a lot of leaks. Even with an incontinence undergarment or pad on, the sensation of a leak was so disconcerting that I feared others could see it on my face. Putting this clamp on solved that issue. As my continence improved, I discovered that drinking alcohol had a negative effect on the resting position of my pelvic floor muscles to cause me to leak. So even though I no longer needed the clamp every day, it became a staple for the occasional happy hour (and still is). The convenience of being able to walk into a men's room and snap it on, and take it off and put it back on at a urinal frees me from having to worry about leaks in that situation.
It has also become my go-to whenever I take a nap. When I'm unconscious, I have very poor continence, but I can put on the clamp and sleep comfortably for up to three hours. I use a condom catheter and collection bag at night, but have used this clamp instead many times. The pressure builds up behind it and lets you know you need to void whether you're asleep or awake.
It takes a little while to get used to the sensation, but I have been able to dance wearing it and do other activities. Bending and stooping are a little tricky (getting in and out of a car requires care), but with practice, completely manageable.
My first one lasted about 18 months, and the hinge pin finally broke. I have just gotten my second one. I hope they continue to make them, but I may stock up, just in case. My only complaint is the cost seems a bit high for the parts involved. I know that is par for the course for a medical device, but if the price point was a little lower, or there was a way to get insurance to cover the cost, I would probably have more than one on hand.

I have been wearing this device 24/7 for approx, 14 months now. It isn’t perfect, but based on models from other companies I have looked at, I feel this one is the safest and easiest to clean. Best thing to do is wear it along with an incontinence pad in case the clamp moves off center and you start to leak. This happens occasionally. It is not the fault of the device, it is due to your urethra retracting (muscles contracting). You can also use a lower clamp setting when wrapping your penis with a non-stick pad or piece of guaze, as this provides additional thickness. The most important thing is to practice good hygiene and keep the clamp clean by washing it one or more times per day.
I have SEVERE incontinence, and used 3 or 4 adult diapers a day, with all the negative and depressive results: feeling wet all day with heavy diapers, getting burnt by acidic urine, alergies, and the cost. Now I know why a baby cries when he is wet or burnt.
When the clamp arrived I almost threw it away because it would not stay in the center where it is most effective, (It has a small bulge in the center of the inside of the soft cover of the lower clamp. This presses on the center of the underside of the penis where the urethra is located.) It would slide from one side or the other and not stay in the center, and therefore was not effective. Then I realized that the cream which I was using so as not to get burnt, was acting as a lubricant. I put it on dry and found that if I was carefull to use the center of the clamp it would be effective with on click. I dont need it at night but use it all day until bedtime, and have no discomfort at all, and shows no skin marks. Now I only use 1 adult diaper a day (instead of 3 or 4) because if I don't get the clamp exactly in the center I may have a leak which would be very embarasing. Now I don't even need the antialergic cream any more.
To sum up: It has a small learning curve at the end of which you will be relieved. If all those who gave this clamp a bad report had been a little patient they would be happy now.
I am not giving it 5 stars because I think the clamp could be better designed so as to center the penis automatically in the clamp where it is very effective, and also it could have an adjustable hinge.
The silicone pads on the Wiesner clamp are much better than the foam ones on the Cunningham-type clamps I bought years ago, much more comfortable and easier to put on and take off. After a while I would guess the silicone would wear thin and crack and you would have to buy another Wiesner clamp, but over the long run it is cheaper than using pads all the time. And if you happen to be allergic to silicone, as in silicone gloves, then this product probably would not be a good move. NEVER wear a clamp at night, you could hurt yourself by rolling over and twisting things, you should never wear it more than a couple of hours during the day without urinating and then after urinating slightly repositioning the clamp. It may be my imagination, but since the clamp means your urine flow tends to be stronger when you remove it to urinate and fully empty your bladder, when I don't use the clamp and use pads only my leaking problems seems far less severe.
I am 84 and became incontinent at the age of 82. Need less to say my life changed radically. I find the Wiesner clamp, for me , preferred over other clamps I have used. The pouch bag is very handy. I use the clamp to stop my incontinent flow for about 11/2 hrs. and then release the collar for about 30 seconds then reclamp for another 11/2 hrs. I was told by my Uroligist that because I had a Penile Implant, had a my Prostate removed due to cancer, (many years ago) I feel pain after 11/2 hrs. with the clamp on. I was also told that his patients who did not have an implant suffered no pain and therefore can simply release a collar, stream, then simply use a collar throughout the day. I also find the clamp very useful when changing a diaper (oops a man's underwear). I use the pouch to carry the clamp when I know I need about 5 to six hours to be in diapers. I carry a belted shield, sold by CVS drug under their name, which makes it possible for me to change into the belted shield by taking the clamp out of the pouch, drop and cut off, with my pocket knife, a regular diaper, put on the belted shield and then can leave on the collar and stay dry for another 11/2 hrs. By using the belted shield you do NOT have to take your pants and shoes off. While clamped you can simply strap the shield belts around each leg while your pants are lowered. I recommend this clamp as my number 1choice
Recently had my prostate removed and incontinence comes with this procedure. I purchased this product so I could go shopping, nite out, dining without filling up a pad. Found this product to do exactly what I wanted "Freedom". With some experimenting you will get the right fit, works excellent, yesterday I raked leaves for 3hrs and had no problem, you will know when you need to relieve yourself. Its a plastic product you will have to be careful with it. You could break it if you get rough with it. I found that if you place the right adjustment piece in and do one click works great without stressing the the product. Easy clean up with soap and water, hope this info helps as I am always skeptical..Great product...
