I use these only during feedings on the side the baby isn't feeding on. It regularly collects around a half ounce and sometimes even an ounce that used to be wasted in a washcloth or bra pads. Great product!
(Update: The photo is what was collected from one breast during a feeding)
I was so excited to find out tgat there is actually a product that is able to collect the leaking milk from the second breast while breastfeeding! Breastfeeding your baby is a huge deal for babys growth and immune system and when the milk supply is limited , every drop of breastmilk is like liquid gold! I was tired of throwing away the milk collected in nursing pads.
I found these and I now collect 5 to 8 oz of milk per day, and feed my baby when its needed and I even freeze a bit almost every day.
The only flaw - they leak. You have to wear a really tight bra and beware of your moves, cause if you bend over even a little - they will leak. Overall, Im glad I bought them! Best money ever spent!
This has been one of my favorite purchases as a new mom. I had some struggles with oversupply and strong let down as we first got established with breastfeeding, and no nursing pad was cutting it. This is where these Avent shells come in. I was seriously relieved to use them. The package comes with 4 hard plastic shells (2 vented, 2 not vented), and 2 softer silicon backs that attach to the shells. They allow me to collect let down and have been helping me build a little freezer stash with very little extra effort. I had been interested in buying the Milkies brand collection cup but I felt like the price for that was outrageous and you only got one cup, whereas these do the same thing for half the cost. They also come in handy when things are sore and tender and you want a break from your clothes rubbing uncomfortably. They are noticable under clothing, so I only use them around the house, but I have a larger l bust so your mileage may vary. I have had a few accidental leaks, so they aren't totally fool proof, but overall I have been happy to have this product in my arsenal as my baby and I learn our way through our breastfeeding journey!
I've used other brands and found the hard plastic quite uncomfortable. When I happened upon these with the hard plastic on the outside and the soft silicone against your skin, I couldn't wait to try them! They have certainly lived up to my expectations! I can wear them all day and forget they are in place, and, as long as you are not wearing a thin bra, no one would ever know they are there. I wear them on the opposite side when my son is breastfeeding and I collect between a half ounce and an ounce each time! That's a lot of lost liquid gold! These are a must-have item for all breastfeeding mamas!
This saved my breast during breastfeeding. My baby did not like to latch and I paid the price of continuing to breastfeed. I was left with bruised and almost ripped nipple after breastfeeding and no amount of nipple cream helped with pain since the fabric would be against the nipple. The shell gave some space between the clothes and the skin so it allowed the air to go through and ease the cut on my nipple. I was able to use ointment and have it actually do the job without having the clothes rub against it.

I bought these for my wife to use. We just had a new baby on Easter Sunday, so these came just in time.
She had used some other brand with our first child about four years ago, and they worked, but they didn't work as well as she had hoped they would, but she loves using these shells.
She says they are very comfortable to wear. The silicone backs form fit to her breasts and don't cause pain the way the hard plastic ones did. They are nice and soft against her skin and she has no problems wearing them for long periods of time and she said she even forgets that she is wearing them at times.
The silicone backs are easy to remove, which makes changing between the vented, and non-vented cups easy and quick. This also makes them very easy to clean.
Her favorite part about these cups is that they work exactly as described. You just pop them in and they collect all the let down while feeding from the other side. They hold quite a bit and the holes are the perfect size to allow milk expression without irritation.
Overall, these are a great buy and an excellent alternative to the much more expensive Milkies. Not that we have tried the Milkies brand, but thanks to these shells, we won't have to. Highly recommended for protection and/or saving all that let down milk that would have gone to waste otherwise.
Wife likes them, she was leaking a lot from doing breastfeeding and this stuff caught all the milk that leaked! It was crazy, she had to come into the bedroom and shove it in my face and go 'LOOK AT ALL THIS MILK IT CAUGHT!!' and then I went 'ewwww... you didn't bring oreo's with that?'
these felt like a must for me when just starting out breast feeding sometimes i use to them to catch leakage when breastfeeding too especially in the beginning when the flow was kinda strong. I love how it has two options for the shells the ones with holes and ones without
Got this when i had my 2nd Child and it was Just Fantastic! Why waste all of your Precious Milk going into a Breast Pad or on Your Bra or Clothes or Spraying All Over the Place! We Aren't Here to Water Grass Ladies! It can be a lil Uncomfortable wearing it inside of your bra at first but when you see how much Milk you Can Save.. Its Sooo Worth It! Especially if you're NOT a Total Milk machine pumping n filling Multiple Containers between each feeding Like Me... So EVERY DROP Really IS like Gold to Me!
So Definitely Leaving the House n Hearing a Crying Baby at the Store Regardless if its Yours or Not... I Didn't get Super Irritated anymore thinking How Much Milk I was Wasting after you Feel it Lock. LOAD n DROP! 😅
THANK YOU TO WHOMEVER INVENTED THIS! Don't Know which Brand was the first and there is some super generic ones out there.. But this Brand Definitely Holds the Milk In Secure As Long as Your Bra is Tight Enough But You have to Bend Forward to Take them Off So they DON'T Spill Out if You have some Full Cups! And it Def had some getting Used to to Balance the Breast Cups Full of Milk on the bed or a counter while you wrap things up.. Esp when my 2yr old son would jump on the bed or touch n Knock over the cups and Milk Would Spill Alllll Over... 😫😑😅
Wish I Had this for my First Pregnancy! Super Easy to Clean... 5 Stars! 💕
I must first say that I am a 36DDD and these shells are not fit for larger cup sizes, they make you look like you have cone breasts. HOWEVER, this has been the only product that has provided me with relief and has helped to heal my sore nipples better than any nipple balm, soak, soothie pads and the like. I wear these to sleep and around the house. I produce a lot of foremilk and the carrying capacity is unreasonable, so I wear breast pads incase the shields overflow at night. Overall, the pro outweighs the con. The product is well made and sturdy.
