Until you need a set, you don't. When you do it's beyond a disaster. These chest seals simply offer time for a team mate to get to a critical care unit, time is critical, the magic hour is real, this is a hedge and a solid investment in my book. We purchased multiple sets for our personal blow out kits, and in our med kits in our vehicles and raft med kits.
Bought this brand due to reading about how well it's adhesive works in dirty environments and and skin that is usually so dirty others won't stick very well. The packaging seems very durable and has what appears to be a ziplock on one end to reseal after opening. This is a lot larger than I expected. Had to trifold it to fit my kit and was able to without creasing it. Would definitely recommend this just from reviews I have read from those that have used them, and the quality of the packaging it is in.
Well... I hope if I ever have to use them, I can return to ay "5 stars, worked great"... until then, they are what I expected. ONLY thing I wish... I wish the packaging department could design the packaging into a roll, or smaller sized protective envelope to assist in making it fit better into an EDC bag that is not a large backpack, etc.
I bought this for my first aid kit to increase its versatility.
Like others, I have not used this yet, and hope I never have to. However, it has been said to be the best of the best.
One thing that hasn't been said and not in the description is the chest seals size. The seal itself is an oval and the short and long dimensions (area within the adhesive edge) is roughly 4.5" x 5.75" respectively.
The size is somewhat of an issue for my first aid kit. Even though it is flat, there is no real good place (for me) to keep it without folding. It is possible to fold but you must be careful as to not let the adhesive lift from the plastic its stored on and have it lose its tackyness.
And last good thing is that although it is a bit pricey, it does come with two. And two is good for entry and possible exit wounds.
I haven't used it. Hope that I do not have to. But I saw a review on it and advertised through Battlbox.com on their active shooter box.

Proven in the field
Bought this to bring along on hunts. You never know what might happen but a Halo Chest Seal is pretty much an essential first aid item for gunshot wounds. Better to have this and not need it than need one and not have it.
This is a great chest seal that seems to work well in military applications. I have my SWAT guys using these and they are easy to carry and come in a good package for the device.
